Also, I know you can order more capsules from the firewood vendor site, but is there a way to close off both ends so I can carry pre-filled capsules to bring with me, so that I could simply replace the capsule instead of emptying and refilling? Something like a cork that'd fit in both ends of the capsule comes to mind.

Good choice of dialogue, I honestly can't tell you if these would fit as the sizes aren't all the same, I use them on my silicone capsule but it was made for it.

He also has screens, not sure if they would be the size you're looking for but modding could be possible, he also sells silicone that I use as my capsule.

How often should one clean their mouthpiece+capsules, and also how often should one clean the chamber part where you insert the capsule? Is there a certain type of liquid or alcohol solution to clean the chamber part with since there's wood & the coil is exposed?

Also is there a link to where I could download the little bifold manual? I had one in my wallet but seem to have misplaced it where its gone. Thanks.

I have never cleaned the silicone capsule but its not getting daily usage, I used to clean the glass chamber inside when I had a screen down there but now it doesn't get as dirty so I don't anymore.

I do clean the mouthpiece though, as they resinates very quickly. If I still had a glass capsule I would just give it a clean every week.

The FW 2.0 is a pretty clean device and is easy on maintenance which is another great improvement over 1.0.

I wouldn't attempt to clean the area underneath the glass chamber when it becomes wood and the coil, that region shouldn't really need to be cleaned.

Iso on the q-tip is what I use.

Hi everyone! I've been cruising this site for a while and got inspired enough to order a vape from the firewood site. But I'm currently residing in the UK and I remembered that a lot of the stuff that is shipped from the outside the EU gets Duty and Taxes charges (Uh oh)... I've calculated what my charges would amount to and that's more than the actual vape!! I don't blame anyone but my own carelessness- but I was wondering whether anyone who ordered from the UK (or the EU I guess) got away with not paying any duty charges?? I think someone mentioned that the boxing is discreet - so might that mean that I might get away with not having to pay as much? Blaah :p

Hi! I received mine today (well, it's waiting at the local post office). I got it off massdrop for £65ish, customs and handling cost a further £20. Frustrating, but there's not much you can do! I have heard that if you answer the door to the postie you're fairly likely to get away with not paying, so if you can work out when it's going to arrive then try stay home!

That's interesting that some people are returning their 2.0 models because they don't heat up very fast or very hot. I thought that was just a feature of the 2.0 model, but it is partly why I don't use my FW2.0 as often as I might otherwise. Does anyone have any opinions on how to tell if my unit is faulty or not? I've been preheating for about a minute.

By the way, I just wrap a rubber band around the unit so that the trigger is always pulled and use the on/off switch to power on and off. Then I remove the rubber band when I put the vape away in my bag or pocket (I use my FW mainly on the go, not in my house) so that it doesn't accidentally get turned on.

Anyway, the resulting vapor production is satisfactory, if not spectacular. It's my stealthy vape. But it doesn't produce clouds like, say, my lotus.

About a minute is how long should it take for cloud chasers. Preheat it for 40 seconds, then test your vapor production, I can understand heating it for a full minute if you want huge clouds on first exhale.

I believe the paper he gave with initial instructions said to preheat for 30 continue heating but start inhaling for 20, I've noticed waiting an extra ten seconds gets it's hot enough I don't have to do such a long draw.

But I will agree my Hammer also gets to a higher temp quicker and easier resulting in bigger clouds. But the Lotus has no heat limitation, combustion is far easier to reach for those butane powered vapes.

@wisherly what is your technique? Have you tried increasing your inhalation speed, I've noticed bigger clouds as a result. Also do your countdown near a real timer versus in your head so we can get an accurate reading on how long you do preheat.

I'm sure this is knowledge known but ensuring you give more than a 10 second heat up when increasing the temp to extract your herb turning abv is necessary. Otherwise you will notice your cloud production fall.

I started using a rubber band, too, and it frees up my hands during the 40-60 sec warm up time. I'm not a cloud-chaser, and the unit works great for me. Only at the very end of the herb's life do I *really* heat it up enough to turn the herbs from light brown to dark brown (sometimes black if I get carried away) in order to get that last bit of goodness out of the herb.

That's a good point about inhalation speed. I need to experiment with faster inhales.

I've been using my FW2.0 only when I'm on the go lately, although I have used it at home in the past and did use a timer to count out a minute. Honestly though, that's one of the things that I really don't like about this vape is the fact that I feel the need to count out 40-60 seconds or use a timer to know when it's ready. That gets to be a drag. It seems like there's got to be another way to tell when it's hot.

So sometimes I count out 60 seconds, and sometimes I don't. Then I usually keep the heat on for most of the time throughout the session. I've been drawing slowly, perhaps at about a 30seconds-for-full-lungs inhale speed. At some point I guess it would help for me to sit down at home and practice different techniques with a timer. It's just that I have other more powerful vapes at home so I haven't gotten around to doing this yet. It's hard to put away my cloud in order to use my FW2.0, but FW2.0 is still my friend when I'm away from home.

Havent read this whole thread yet but i really like this design. Im just not the kinda guy that likes to press the button down constantly i use to have a mflb and i hated doin that always would find myself counting how many seconds i was holding it for and distracting me from the vaping experience. but hell the price alone just makes me wanna try it.
Mabye if theres ever a vw3 it could have a small thumb dimmer built into the unit instead of a hold down power button?? It would be similar to the ssv and dbv in the way were you could experiment with different positions on thr dial and fine tune your temp. Still an awsome product tho i would definatly buy this over the pax.

How finely do you guys grind up your herbs? I use a Mendo mulcher 2.25 do I need an additional finishing grinder or something similar? Would one like their ABV to be: A) fully brown and a little burnt on the edges or B) browned on the edges and greenish-brown in the middle? I haven't been getting much vapor clouds, but the herbs turn out brown so does that ensure that I've vaped it correctly?

Have any of you guys been using this for anything other than flowers?

Also, is there anyone else that uses this while outside/mobile? How do you guys reload the chamber while outside/on the go?

Finally, how much weed does it usually take you guys to get a good high going? Usually it takes me 2 half-full chambers to get a good buzz going which is weird since I don't have a high tolerance. Could be that my weed is low grade though.

Relatively fine grind. I like fully brown and a little burnt, just to be sure. Hold the button down for a longer time to get visible vapor.

For on the go, you'll need to have some pre-ground herb with you, and you just refill the capsule.

Takes me *very* little, but that's 'cause I only toke 2-3 nights per week so I never develop a tolerance. :-) As an experiment I went through a mostly-full capsule in one session. It took quite a few pulls, and by the end I was waaaaay too high.

Hey everyone, I own 2 firewood 2.0's (a maple and a walnut). I've had the maple since it first came out and the walnut since January. I've put them though heavy use and I'm sad to say both have noticeably degraded in function. The maple no longer heats up and for the past few weeks I noticed my walnut takes longer to heat up not and doesn't produce as much vapor as it once did. I also feel it doesn't hold as long of a charge anymore. When they were both functioning 100% they were my favorite but now its become a hassle to use the walnut. I might get it repaired but for now I'm back to using my lotus as my main.

Has any other long term owners of firewood 2.0's experienced this?

I've had a 1.0 since September and a 2.0 since December. Both still work fine. One thing I do to preserve battery life is I always wait until the unit has cooled down completely before recharging. Charging a hot battery will shorten its useful life.

On my 1.0, I tripped the thermal fuse and had to send it in to be fixed. It was quick and painless. If I were you, I would spend the few bucks it costs to send them in for repair. They're under a 1-year warranty. Why not use the warranty service you're entitled to use?

I received my Walnut Firewood, via Massdrop, the other day and I must say it's gorgeous. I don't know why but it reminds me of a Guild Navigator tank. I can't resist hand crafted pieces of art vs cheap Chinese Junk. So it was a a natural must-have addition to MFLB, Maud-Dib, Lotus, VapMan. Getting Walnut (my favorite hardwood) was a huge bonus as well.

I do think I ran into the V1 thermo safety issue though. But just a few minutes ago I e-mailed Marc and already I've heard from him. Confirming it's V1 so looks like I needs sending in per anticipated instructions from Marc.

Very much looking forward to this outstanding hand crafted item, albeit now after a brief (apparent) V1 service hiatus.

Long live craftsmanship, quality, and design!

I've been a lurker here for a bit and am pretty new to vaping, or bud in general (just moved to a legal state). Anyways, I love my firewood, but I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on using it with a water pipe of some sort? I was interested in the new mflb orbiter, but I'm not sure if the whip would fit, and I'm not sure how well it would work with the slow rate required for the firewood. Thanks!

Since the Firewood is so tasty I never use it through water but you can do it, look at Jambandphan vid's
to see which set up he used....(I think silicone tubing around the mp and in a 14mm GonG)

Updated Firewood 2.1 is now available! Based on all of your feedback, we made a few internal improvements while leaving the form factor the same. The biggest improvements are faster heat up times and less overall time holding the button. It also comes with a stronger battery that is rated for 1500 charge/discharge cycles. A Massdrop will be starting tomorrow!

Version 2.0 is simply excellent. I'll consider the upgrade but I'd like to compare the specs. The Firewood website gives the new specs for the new 2.1 but I don't see the old data for 2.0. New batteries, wonderful, but what, exactly is the difference? Faster heat time, but I'd like to know how much faster. Knowing what other changes, if any, would be useful info. Again, this product (2.0) is superb and it may be worth the upgrade fee to try 2.1.

It is hard to measure heat up times because there are different ways to do the test. Do you do it on a full battery or is it better to use a half full one? What is considered "heated up" - when you first see visible vapor or when the heating element or plant material reach a certain temp? Anyway the point is that it is difficult to make an accurate measurement. That said - i can say that the 2.1 is quite a bit faster than the 2.0. I think most people would agree that on a full charge the 2.0 took at least 40 seconds to get visible vapor. On a half charge on the 2.1 I can get visible vapor after about 20 seconds, but I typically start drawing at just 10 seconds because moving the air helps get things heated up. So a very unscientific answer would be that the 2.1 takes about half as long to heat up.

The other major improvement is batter battery lifespan. The old batteries lasted 500-1000 cycles and the new ones last up to 1500.

I didn't actually know about the battery life span. I have a 2.0 - when the battery uses all of it's life cycles will the unit become defunct? Also, to increase lifespan should I make sure I completely discharge the battery before I charge it, or can I charge it after every sesh if I want to?
