The video above made me try it and i found it impressive!

The seal with the silicon bowl is very easily obtainable with a mflb glass stem for example.

My FW 1.0 performed perfectly.

I had a defective unit upon my first purchase early on when they were first being shipped and your experience sounds exactly like the problem I was having. Marc quickly exchanged mine for a new unit and it was a night and day difference.

It's producing very thick vapor clouds in under 40 seconds now. I'm really impressed with 2.0 model.
wow... 40 seconds? Got out a stop watch, If i give it 6 minutes I can get vapor, 2 minutes between hits, fast than that and it loses its heat. So yeah must send back. Thanks for the info.

Mine after 2 weeks has a problem with the heater clicker. Cuts out and I have to press down again, sometimes it catches , other times not. It might stay on while I hold it down, other times it just cuts off. I haven't dropped it or mistreated it and even have a nice plushy case for it. Guess it needs to go in for service.

This thread is getting a bit confusing for me,
as I can't tell anymore which version of the firewood is being discussed,
version 1 or 2.

I just started experiencing this, the trigger is clicked/down, but light goes off. I can still get the job done, but it is an inconvenience. Firewood is good about returns/fixes.

Other than that the Firewood kicks ass.

Yes, mine is a v2 received 3 weeks or so here. It's not the light itself, at least I don't believe. My guess it's the heater mechanism itself cutting on and off. I just need to dig through my pile of boxes and find the FW one to send it in. It's tempting to just say screw it and not send it back, since as you say, job done but an inconvenience.

Sounds like it needs a better component(s), meaning better quality if these issues are showing up in the field in multiple places. It is though a really nice, well designed, easy to use, well worth it and value wise vape.

And it is a nice looking piece.

Just noticed a crack on my v2 firewood.. hasnt left my room nor has it been dropped, looks to be right where the heating element is. It is not seeming to affect performance but is kinda shitty :(

damn, sorry to hear that. It definitely won't affect performance but we can fix it if you'd like.
We also made one other tweak to the process a few weeks ago (after you got yours) aimed at preventing cracks. Again, it is up to you if you want a fix, just PM me.

Hey guys, sorry i have been absent so long, that massdrop was way bigger than I expected and i was pretty much working non-stop for the last month.

Regarding the brown spots that form over time near in the area above the switch... This is normal and will happen on all of the wood varieties. It shouldn't cause any problems though. I have never seen one get even close to burning through. If it did burn through, the vape would still work fine, and a repair would be covered under warranty. If burn throughs became a common problem I would probably make a minor design change by adding another window right where those brown spots occur and any repairs would get this change.
So I also have had this problem. New maple 2.0... Can we ask firewood about it?

hey, firewood here. It is possible to get some browning of the wood at the hot spots, but it also may be a sign that you are going too hot. The 2.0 that I have been using for a couple months doesn't have any browning at all. Did you have any more specific question(s)?

After my first test run I like the 2.0. Vapor quality is better. I can't "almost combust " like with original FW. I ran battery out to recharge and it took forever so battery life is stronger. My first gen FW also has brown spot on wood from the heat overtime , but has not effected the performance.

Hello all, long time lurker here. I have come to some sort of choice on what vape to get and that is the firewood. However, I am torn on which version I want to go for. The 2.0 looks better in a lot of aspects, but I am willing to go with the v1 for the drop in price. My main gripe with the firewood in general is that I want to be able to get it 100% clean to bring on an airplane. How hard is it, if it's even possible to get it clean? I am more worried about the cleaning on the v1 than the 2.0 but I'd like to know for both, thanks.

One more question, on the 2.0, how big are the capsules(length and diameter)? Will a pack of 4 fit in a doob tube(5 1/2" x 11/16" or 4 1/8" x 5/8")?

enjoiment,
I bought one of the Firewood 2.0s from the most recent Massdrop.

I started with an MFLB, so I'm used to a device that can kick vapor without much delay. The FW seems gentler, and takes a while to get up to visible-vapor temp (a minute or two and 3 or 4 long draws at least). Even then I'm not sure I'm vaping the herbs terribly well. The ABV from a FW session is generally a light greenish-brown, and oil glands are often still visible, no matter how many times I try and finish the load off.

Trying to use the FW with a water tool feels like a lesson in futility because I must draw so incredibly slowly to get vapor. That's no fun! :)

The ceramic bushing/heater container in my fw is mounted at an angle—a few MM off-center—thus perhaps not making the best contact with the capsule... That or maybe I've got the weak battery issue a few folks have run into. Does anyone have any tips for making this thing perform better? Or does it sound like I should try and get it replaced under warrantee?

My firewood v2 is having the same issues. I'm not sure what's causing the issue. I have to hold the button for at least 1.5 to 2 mins before getting any visible vapor.

It takes my firewood 2.0 atleast 2-3 minutes before making vapor. I have abandoned using the trigger and just wrapped a rubber band around it. I usually preheat my firewood for 2 minutes before dropping the capsule in. Then another minute or so before vapor production. Guessing i should send it in for warranty too.
Mine also has a large crack in the wood near the heat exchanger/glass.

I use my fw1 and fw2 thru a water tool and have no problems producing large vapor clouds. I'm digging the new FW but dropped my glass capsule so back to fw1 till I get more cap.
