Firewood Vaporizer

What battery are people using nowadays in their Firewood(s)? While I use Molicels in most of my stuff, I recall at one point these being slightly off-sized, and not fitting well in the Firewood 7, so I'd switched to using Sony VTCs (5A, 5D). Or, do Molicels work now, or anyone know what Marc is supplying with the X by chance?
My FAT X came with a Vapcell V30...the bright purple one

I wonder if Molicel P30B is a good fit?
P30B is what I run in everything now. Works fine in the FATX.

Did you put a lot of pressure on the glass or lid?(I'm trying to figure out the real reason for what happened and how to avoid it)
I don't think so, I think it's just the normal friction of sliding the lid on and off that puts any stress on the glass. Maybe the pad of my finger slightly touches the glass when I use the lip of the window hole to slide the lid off. There's really no other edge to leverage and the lid is a tight fit.

Just a heads up, the glass window can break. Mines breaking on one side near where it touches the spring. Have emailed Marc to see what's what (user error, defect, etc), but thought I should give a heads up anyway cos it's not in the manual. I figured that particular part was pretty fine compared to the exposed stem...
You get any response from him on this? Mine completely failed. :(

I'm pretty sure even the final batches of FW7 had the battery compartment made roomie enough to fit molicel (so I think that was only an issue with the earlier batches?) definitely not an issue with FW9 at all and seemingly no different with the X, still great cell choice

The storage parts are available on the FW website for the FATX early adopters. My Firewood X arrived today and I ordered the storage bits!

Also there are FW9s available, if folks are interested.

Well this is a bummer. While sliding the lid off for a bowl change the glass fell out. Seems it’s held in by a lip that failed.
The glass in mine keeps slipping out as well. I have to reset it each time I close the lid.

Also, I'm a lefty and have been using my thumb on the button, and am constantly burning the shit out of my pinky on the side glass, esp if it has slipped out a bit.

I'm going to take it apart tomorrow, give that clip a bit more bend, and see if that holds it better.

I was looking to replace the screen in my Firewood 7. I ordered the 1/2" replacements from Firewood. Based on what I could find here, it sounds like I'd push the screen up from the bottom of the bowl to remove, and then the new one would go in from the top towards the bottom (?). Can anyone confirm this is right (or any other helpful details)? TIA

When i replaced mine I just pressed on the edge of the screen with a little poker til it popped out of the groove then I was able to pop it out. For the new on3 I just molded it into a slightly cupped shape and slowly pushed it into the bowl until it slid into the groove.

I saw the storage parts but couldn’t figure out how they work. Does the base stay in the FAT? Do you remove the lid?

How do you move herb into the bowl?

Do you know what the mouthpiece adapter spring does?

While I’m at it… does any 8mm stem work?

He posted some videos that answer questions about the storage compartment, and inserting/removing the screen.

I kept reading this thread in hopes that he will add an "off" function- will buy one as soon as that happens.

There are a couple of videos here:

Do you know what the mouthpiece adapter spring does?
It holds the ceramic MP adapter in place.

Most. It just depends on the OD mostly

Hey all! Finally received my F.A.T. X today!

However I just realized that I literally don't have any 20-amp high discharge 18650 batteries! All I have currently are some Samsung and Panasonic batteries rated to 10-amps max discharge.

I'm betting those batteries are not safe to use, so now I need to find some new batteries quickly. Are there any legit decent 20-amp high discharge batteries on Amazon?

What are the chances the local random smoke & vape shop in town has 20-amp batteries in stock?

I'm just looking to take the vape for a test-spin, I don't care about the longest battery runtime or anything like that.

I've always heard to steer clear of Amazon for 18650s because they're often re-wraps, fake, etc. And I think otherwise that the discharge rate matters to use the device safely (but not an expert there).

You could luck out at a random vape shop, maybe on something (while slightly outdated specs wise) that'll work; like an LG HG2, Samsung 25r, etc.

Or - you're in FL right? (based off previous orders). If so looks like Orbtronic (reputable battery site) is based out of St. Petersburg, or 18650batterystore dot com is in GA, FWIW.

Yeah, that's always my assumption. I wasn't sure if maybe things had changed since I last looked to buy batteries years ago but I guess not

I'll probably just grab a battery online and let the vape tease me haha.

I already have a few ideas for some accessories, and can confirm that my Medium NuSonG Nearly Universal WPA fits the FAT X mouthpiece

Received my X today. Haven't taken the device for a spin yet, but I did try out a couple different mouthpiece options for aestheics. I quickly landed on likely using a (short) Mistvape Beaded glass stem with a wood mouthpiece. This fits quite nicely (images below). I also thankfully had some leftover felt pieces from my Firewood 7 which helped to stop any minor stem rattle.

p.s. Was pleasantly surprised to see that the storage components were included with mine (must have come into stock around the same time). Wanted to share in case anyone else has one en route, and if so - you may want to hold off ordering these separately.

Just got my firewood X in today as well and also had both storage parts! What a great surprise! So far really enjoying this little device, and it's an absolute pleasure to use. Def looking forward to 3rd party stems/mouthpieces with a *bit* more cooling! At first I wasn't sure about the internal storage, but I actually think I'm gonna try it out and see if it makes filling a little easier.

EDIT: What temps are everyone settling on? Gotta admit 440 has been enjoyable for fast, heavy vaporizing!

How long are you looking for? I've been considering a sweet 3D printed stainless steel stem, but instead I may try to partner with one of the glassblowers I've been talking to and see if I can get a custom glass stem made for us. Although if anyone did want to try a stainless steel stem, I'm all ears to discuss what must-have features you'd want ;)

Marc shipped me the storage pieces. For the life of my I cannot get the “base” piece of metal fully inserted. Anyone have success with this? I can get it 95% but then the wood lid won’t fully close.
