I got my FAT X over the weekend. Had the 7 previously. In my opinion it’s better in every way, with the exception of the retractable stem, but it’s not that big of a deal. Heat up time is improved, the “extraction” is very uniform, air flow and taste are great. It also feels nice in the hand. The viewing window is also a nice touch. I’d recommend!

My M7 fits but is the external diameter isn't as large as that of the glass stem, so it has more space to knock around in the wood.

Any photos for us? So far one case of this. Maybe there was a miss alignment issue when building? I've had mine on and off 50 times now with no signs of wear.

Yeah I have a bb9 stem in mine for my bubbler. Just have to tape off air intake hole if it has one. Very little gap in wood with no adapters. Could add a little felt tape like in the 9 to prevent gap on narrower stems.

Anyone else notice that he calls it the "Walnut Firewood Aroma Tech X"?
This indicates to me that there may eventually be other woods.
Perhaps a PurpleHeart FATX?

While I personally didn't interpret that to necessarily mean it was a Walnut edition (i.e. with more to follow), I do know the 5 was offered in several different woods (Padauk, Cherry, Maple and African Mahogany) - so it's possible.

I Loved my 7 which I still have and keep in Water Pipe mode. Love the way the wooden adapter works.
I had the 8 and had love hate relationship with it, but sold it off when the 9 came out. Never really like removable chambers, I found it wasn't terrible reliable didn't heat the same way each time. Bowl mode with the 9 pretty much fixed that and the return of the regular 18650 made me like the 9 a lot more. Usb-c charging was a nice upgrade compared to the 7, but it was always a bit finicky. I do like the 9, but I don't love it the way I love the 7. I still think the 7 is my favorite, but I just sent in my order for the X a few minutes ago. Really excited for the bigger heater and improved airflow and improved usb-c charging, maybe this will finally be the Firewood that I travel with?

For what it's worth, in the early Milaana days, a few occurrences of near-fire charred wood due to the trigger being accidentally pushed while stored in a bag were enough to warrant having all devices retro-fitted with the "guitar pick fix" (which you could slide between the cell and the terminal in order to break the circuit)

That being said the Milaana was fully unregulated, so the danger was likely higher. But to me it feels very unfair to dismiss the fears and worries of the potential users having expressed them here. Especially since as I said earlier, even my Firewood 2.1 had a two positions switch to turn the device off.

But again, the FW2.1 was also unregulated and the risk of damage higher. For the FW10, I guess nothing too bad could happen? It's temperature-regulated and not just power-regulated right? (haven't used any since my ancestral one, I really don't know)

Yeah, I ain't concerned about damaging the vape or myself like I could with the Milaana (never got sent my pick. Australia was apparently too far to send a guitar pick...), but it's gonna suck when I go to hit it and the battery is dead after only 2 or 3 bowls. So I just carry the battery externally now. Dunno what it is, but I've turned on my tm2 multiple times, so this turning on and getting hot isn't surprising.

Has anyone ran into an issue where you do the unregulated mode and then the vape starts clicking? All of sudden it stops heating up with a few buzzes

Does this happen with all settings now? Or just unregulated? My original early adopter had the constant buzz error on all settings randomly after a few days of use. Marc provided a label and I got it fixed and shipped back in a week

All settings randomly, everytime now in unregulated mode

Hi,
I'm working on a leather jacket for the FATX, and here are the first photos. I'm thinking of offering 2 models, with or without a button protection strap.
The access to the bowl is left free, so you don't have to remove the jacket to reload. The bottom is also left free to let hot air escape without constraint. No access to the usb socket, as I prefer people to remove the jacket for security reasons when recharging.
As always, i use high grain vegetable tanned cow leather from frecnh tanneries.

Let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas you'd like to share.

Anyone else with a FATX figure out how to remove the heater and joint ceramics for deep cleaning? The instructions don't cover this or screen removal/replacement.

If you pull the spring straight up, the mouthpiece joint will come out by sliding it up. To get the screen out, I just pushed on the edge with a bamboo skewer to knock it sideways and grabbed with tweezers. Getting the screen back in and set properly was a pain though.

More curious on if and how we can remove the bowl and joint ceramics to torch clean like I can with the FW9 bowl and joint.

Looks awesome! Only suggestion I'd have to offer is for the non-button strap version: maybe have a smaller opening around the button. This would seemingly still help prevent the possibility of any accidental button presses (due to the button no longer being flush); but wouldn't require a button protection strap to do so.

Oh, sorry, I didn't read the first message carefully...Apparently, this is the second such case.Yes, this situation is not encouraging..

Did you put a lot of pressure on the glass or lid?(I'm trying to figure out the real reason for what happened and how to avoid it)

Thank you, i agree with you, The hole needs to be large enough to allow easy pressing, but not too large to prevent unintentional pressure.

What battery are people using nowadays in their Firewood(s)? While I use Molicels in most of my stuff, I recall at one point these being slightly off-sized, and not fitting well in the Firewood 7, so I'd switched to using Sony VTCs (5A, 5D). Or, do Molicels work now, or anyone know what Marc is supplying with the X by chance?
