I think you and @vapviking are right to point out the difficulties of shopping for something handmade and in demand, I just don't think he should fuck with a drawing or waiting list,

I agree. But even more, I think he should do whatever he thinks is best for him. At the end of the day, we're not giving him enough of a margin to have demands. I just appreciate that he puts his work out at a decent price and for the very highest tier of quality.

I haven't done it yet, but unlike when I purchased, it appears that you go through the whole website purchase flow and then mail a check to the address on that final page. There are instructions on the page after you enter your shipping address.

Wow I did not realize that had happened and that was the system now, that's a pretty big barrier, who the hell has checks anymore, mailing a check, what year is it?? I'm going to have to figure something else out with him...

I think this is key right here.

To put it bluntly, it’s not (and in my opinion it shouldn’t be) his obligation to ensure everyone gets a fair shake (he probably has his plate full ensuring he gets a fair shake).

I’ll try each drop (if that’s the mode) to get one; I’ll complain when I can’t; the honus is on me to procure from, not the maker to sell to. (At least with shit that I want lol)

Ouch….I think I had to do this for Fluxer too when the pact act started and they got hit with a PayPal down age at the same time. I didn’t have checks then and had to go get a cashiers check to send…..I guess I’ll be getting another one.

Wait, how will he confirm that people who request one will actually send in the check?(unless he is building to order this time)

If paypal is cracking down on the sale of these evil devices, I can see why he might be concerned.

I don’t remember if he already had problems with them or not, but if he made a bunch of FW8s and had $50,000 in orders come in through them and then they decided to freeze his account or something…that would be a real mess.

The laws and corporate rules around these things are so ridiculous…

There are still ecig companies processing online orders. I'm pretty sure there are "high risk" payment processors he could use. Might be a pain in the ass for a one man operation to open up a merchant account, but the fees would also be more reasonable than PayPal.

Yeah there are ways to send money to friends and family online, get so complicated running a small business like this, I don't envy that especially now, probably a big barrier for people to enter this industry!

What a hassle to write check, envelope it, stamp it, mail it, wait for him to receive it, cash it, THEN finally mail shipment.
Waste of fuel and time with checks.

As someone who has implemented blockchain-based software and is deeply familiar with current crypto currency, I would skip the FW8 if that were the only way to pay. And I ADORE my FW7.

I've read through most of the thread (well, from about page 200 or so) and am trying to figure out how to maximise its potential but I love it so far. I have a question - does it matter how I hold it? I'm left handed, and the most comfortable position is with the stem side below the battery side, so the oven ends up upside down. Does this matter?

That's funny I prefer to hold it in my left hand because I hit the button with my thumb. I had always assumed Marc was a lefty because of this. I'm right handed, by the way.

I do think it needs to be "battery on top" in order to optimally heat your herb. This why the WPA is the way it is too, afaik.

You should totally not buy one Shit Snacks. I think we should all boycott. And by all of us, I mean all of you!

I don't write checks, but I can type the info into my bill pay and my bank will send a check out. It still feels archaic somehow, but I'll do what I gotta do! I'd rather do that, rather than pay extra money for credit card fees.

Many people have at least 1 bank account that will send checks out for you, if you input the information online in bill pay.

Ah, yeah, I meant with battery on the bottom. If I hold the button with my thumb, then my hand is over the top in a weird contorted claw. But I have weirdly small hands.

Same happened to mine and it also fixed itself. Marc got back to me and recommended using tweezers to grip and rotate the button in the event that it happens again.

Funnily enough that's exactly how I got the button to unstick lol

I ordered a water pipe adapter a couple weeks ago and the payment options were Transfer Wise or personal check. I was unsuccessful setting up a Transfer Wise account after several days of trying (due to an issue with my bank) and eventually mailed a check (US customer). He patiently held my order while we sorted it out and I received it last week.
