I'm almost certain Marc at Firewood is selling the Hula XL. It's 3 inches on the dot. At least the version Sneaky Pete is selling is. The regular Hula he sells is 2.5 inches. So it's not going to work with the standard cooling unit setup, unfortunately.

@playonword if you end up ordering again from SP, here's the right stem: https://www.sneakypetestore.com/col...stem-v2-xl-for-dynavap?variant=23192049451089

I picked up a couple stems when SneakyPete had his end of the year sale. I'm impressed with their service. Fast, free shipping. Honestly, the best stem I've found is still the standard green Hula (or Hula XL) that shipped with my FW (I should've just listened to you, @Shit Snacks) But, no harm/no foul. I ended up buying a VapCap tip as a back up option. All the FW stems are cross compatible with the Dynavap tip. Given how much I'm liking this "hybrid" heating, I decided to give the VC another whirl.

Oh! Hmm well if the stem that Marc is selling on the site is in fact the XL hula stem then I have been operating under a false assumption! Thank you for the clarification

There may be different names for it? I just know that's how Sneaky Pete has them labeled. The FW site just says the stem needs to be at least 3 inches. And to retract completely, it has to be 3 inches exactly. I picked up one of these weird looking things during the sale...

Sneaky Pete had them listed as 3 inches. They're actually about 3.25. Maybe that's why his first name is Sneaky?

I probably should've grabbed the 3 inch Hula in every color during the sale.

Ya’ll are legends for your responsiveness. Why I love the vape community. @Shit Snacks to clarify, I have the regular non XL hula stem (2.5in). Interesting to hear that you’ve been using the non XL version... I suppose it could be used, I just worry about the bottom half of the cooling mouth piece becoming unattached, etc. how’s your experience been?

@florduh using the vapcap tip... GENIUS! I’ll give it a shot

Haha nice, I think those will be annoying for FW, bc they have the carb hole though...

Sorry, I was just confused, I have the green cooling stem purchased from firewood, I thought it was a regular hula stem but apparently it is the XL that I have afterall!

Yeah I would think it would be too tricky and annoying to make sure you didn't disconnect the bottom half, meanwhile the tip probably does not stick out far enough for my liking either... I would try messaging Sneaky Pete why not, tell him what happened that you made a mistake, he is a good dude so he'll probably take care of you in some way!

It's definitely not ideal, but when extended the carb is partially blocked by the wood. It's located maybe a quarter inch into the body when extended. I'll still get thick hits, but there's not a big advantage over the stock dimpled Hula.

This is a good idea. I saw him using the FW7 in a video, but he didn't have the cooling stem. Maybe he'll appreciate knowing he's selling cooling stems for this vape in his store?

hey guys- just got my FW7 in the mail. unfortunately i realized i ordered the wrong hula stem from sneaky pete. i believe its supposed to be the XL version. is there anyway this can still be used?
I imagine that if you can find the proper tool to cut the tube of the original MP (like this one https://www.rapidonline.com/eisco-glass-tubing-cutter-52-3569), you can then cut it to the right length so you can adapt your hula stem on it and make the all thing fully retractable. Like the adapter sold with the FW but longer

edit : oops, saw to late everything has already been resolved smoothly

I finally had a chance to try the 75mm Mistvape Beaded Cooling Stem with my FW7. I’d posted earlier that the 50mm one was a little too short. I’m finding the 75mm one though to be (another) great cooling option!

Without the wood mouthpiece, it fits perfectly in the FW7, as it’s right around the same size as the FW dimpled stem. I found the beads cool the vapor a lot, the draw restriction works well, and I wasn’t feeling warm glass at the mouthpiece either. Below is a picture of this setup:

You’d also have the option to use the wood mouthpiece (if purchased that way) for additional length/style. The purpleheart in particular (from PIU) looks nice against the walnut👍. It will stick out the length of the mouthpiece from the FW though, as shown below:

I was already considering getting a beaded stem from Mistvape as another option for the Nomad, so I guess I’ll have to pick up two sizes!

As long as you don’t mind a mouthpiece sticking out, the Dynavap Omni mouthpiece (without condenser) Is another option. It does fit in *some* XL Hula stems.

I bought 3 with my FW7 and it fits well enough in 1, but it fits in the end that is usually connected to the small glass tube so the glass still sticks out a very small amount along with the mouthpiece. If you have a bunch of Hula stems to try though, one of them may fit perfectly.

If Dynavap has any Omni mouthpieces with screwed up threading though, cutting off that section and leaving the part with the o-rings would make it fit in a lot more of these stems.

I also tried the super cheap glass chillum I picked up that fits my VapCap tips...strangely it didn’t quite fit my Omni mouthpiece and it’s a bit longer than the Hula XL, but if you took the mouthpiece and your FW7 to a head shop you could probably find one that fit well.

At that point I think putting the mouthpiece in the end closest to the narrowed section, adding some glass (or other material) balls and then sticking the FW7’s small glass tube into the end should work well. If not, a screen should fix it.

The downside to these is that they stick out, and due to the extra weight they may shake a bit more noticeably or even fall out. We need some more experimenting... :sherlock:

It’s funny I was experimenting with this stuff while doing my first FW cleaning before rvarick posted, so good timing I guess!

What do you think, @rvarick ? Does your new stem feel like it might slip out?

The mistvape stem is fortunately pretty light, even with the tip (which is very light) - so it feels secure/doesn't fall out.

Nice! How would you compare it to the basic Hula stem Marc sells? I bought a bunch of stems, but nothing has really beat my original cooling stem in terms of cooling the vapor. I could see those beads doing a better job though.

I'll caveat that I've only tested it with a couple sessions, but I do think I like the cooling maybe slightly better. I noticed it most in the lack of warmth at the end of the stem, vs. the FW dimpled stem which can get warm at the end after back-to-back draws in my case. With the wood mouthpiece on I definitely like the mistvape stem's cooling better, but this comes at a compromise on the size/length of course (as it doesn't fully retract). I think the overall winner on coolest vapor for me though is the inception stem from OCWW, however I'm liking the mistvape stem so far as a better fitting compromise. Hope this helps.

I am very happy with my new toy.:D
4 bowls and I can already say that this vape will have a lot of use.
Thanks  @brian for alerting me to this, you know that I love my TM, but you were right ... it is a more roasty steam and as I have only been using TM for a year, it was what I was looking for, as I mentioned in the post you saw.
Excellent finishes on the FW7, I bought the unfinished but as soon as it arrived I applied a light layer of beeswax and polished it and it looks beautiful.
Already had 3 hula xl stems waiting for him and it looks like they were born for FW7. In fact, this was how it should be sent and not with the narrow tube.
Very comfortable steam, level 2... well-toasted AVB.
I am very impressed, but I wouldn’t expect anything else for a guy who has already made 7 different vapes. It is a lot of acquired knowledge. Congratulations Marc! @firewood

ops almost forgot ... I'm going to take some pictures ...

had a chance to use mine yesterday... keep in mind i'm a very light user (i enjoy tinkering and the ecosystem, but try to keep my tolerance low). i typically do about 1-2 dynavap bowls at night and just chill.

first: design. beautiful. super nice to hold and lay on a desk. i'm sure no one would guess its a vape if that's a concern.

the learning curve is a bit intimidating, but not steep. the guide has all the information one would need, and i was quickly able to get it to work within a few minutes of receiving it.

i did a half pack yesterday in the FW7 at around 9:30pm. used preset 2 and was able to get 5-6 pulls before the ABV came out with an even, coffee-esque roast. flavor was solid throughout, and the rips were warm but not irritating (i am using the stock mouthpiece). i do not use glass but can only imagine the rips one could get through a nice piece.

highest i've ever been from a vape bar none. granted, i've only used a pax 3 and a dynavap, but this still was a punch in the face. at 11:30pm i was debating whether to pack another half bowl but couldn't bring myself to do it. i was lights out. this ones a keeper guys.

Awesome! Happy to see it made it to your hands finally!

Those Hula stems are what you can buy from Firewoods website also but only in green, so they basically are made for the FW! Or was the FW was made for the Hula? Hmm.

I really like the amber color on that though. May have to get some other options .

Pics look great! Enjoy!

Level 2 is where I do most of my firewood vaping at. once the vapor starts to end, I bump it up to 3 to finish it off.

I've also really been enjoying switching between the TM and FW. They're great companions

question for you all... how do you load your FW7? i used the "straw method" for the dynavap and was able to have a bowl ready to go super quickly.

with the FW7, sometimes i find myself removing little weed bits from the battery compartment. i think a funnel may work here but not sure. maybe i'm overthinking this?

A funnel would be good, but the scooper from @RogueGuy (Rogue Wax Works on etsy) happens to fit the FW7 oven pretty perfectly! could also try pouring from a narrow container, and @Delta3DStudios is another great place to look for tools btw!

A VapCap also works for loading. That’s the cleanest way I’ve done it so far.

I also use a little rolled up piece of parchment paper as a funnel or half funnel sometimes, but being flimsy paper it’s more prone to spills, etc.

I’m sure most tools like Shit Snacks posted above, NewVape’s loading tool, etc. would be better, but if all you have around is a paper...

I use a metal doob tube I got off Etsy and it works pretty great as long as you aren’t in a windy area

@Shit Snacks thanks for the shout out. The Scoop Tamp does fit nicely. I also have a small tamp stir tool that works great for people that stir.

Curious about peoples experience with the various stems/WPA. I have the OG skinny stem, cooling stem adapter and WPA. In order of preference its OG Skinny, WPA with J Hook and the cooling stem comes in a distant last.

Well that's surprising haha, the OG skinny stem was unusable for me (missing original wood piece), but I haven't tried the newer re-designed version as I went straight to the cooling mouthpieces with that new setup. I find the one available on the site to be the best even, but I have a couple from O'Connell that are nice too. But using the WPA with my various custom j hooks is still probably my favorite though I need to compare more...

I went back to the skinny stem because i liked the cooling stem adapter, but i just couldn't get over the fact that there was an open window after using it enclosed with the wood slider.

I hope that i will be able to get others in the future if mine breaks.
