It fits right into my shirt pocket, without a rattle to it !
Works for me, heh...

How can you guys justify the $400 price when you could practically buy 8 DT Lightning Pens for the same price?

There are so many discount codes you might as well just say the price is $350 now. I feel like it won't be very long until they are available for $299. Regardless, if you're asking it sounds like it's not the device for you. Money isn't a factor for many people if the product and quality are on point.

The one thing that is stopping me from pulling the trigger on this one, is the concern that the vapor will be too hot in the mouth/throat due to the short vapor path. I was never able to use the M22, DTv4, Sai, Grasshopper, etc. without cooling.

Everyone's thoughts? How does the coolness of the vapor compare on this one vs the Proxy for example? (another dry dab device I own that I would have as a point of comparison)

I don't need too. It's just one of the best quality devices I ever had in my hand. I got other premium vaporizers like TinyMight, Volcano, OmniVap or Simrell Vortex, DaVinci IQ/IQ2 and a lot lot more :brow: The Cricket is made way better than this devices. You just feel it in your hands.
Quality and funcionality first, other things second.
The only one issue with Evolv Cricket is not replacable battery. Don't worry - you have a lot power at one charging but I just like option with replacable source of energy in seconds.
I see a Cricket v2 with something like a drawer where you can change it in couple seconds. Even if device will be a little bigger than this.
But as guys in this topic wrote some time ago - replace used battery by Evolv should cost about 20-30$

@TonyGazelle thanks for the info about @Duba, maybe I'll contact him to share my thoughts about sleeve/case. It should have some belt inside to pull it with vaporizer or hole in a down part of product to push it out from it. If you know what I mean. :) As we know the upper piece is on magnets so pulling it from upper site would not be a good idea :D

$40 includes one way shipping :)

Brother we're discussing this on the evolv discord right now.

Most people I know can't justify the cost of a lightning pen over a disposable cart. Puffco sells like crazy and they're considerably more expensive than the DTLP. Different strokes for different folks.

The Cricket interests me for a few reasons and keeps my interest with a super short short list of cons. That con list is shrinking as well.

I was waiting to hear back from the Cricket IG account, and I was given Brandon's number to further discuss the cap detection issues that were reported early on.
Brandon had a chuckle when I said I was told "Evolv is working on it". Long story short (and he took me down the information rabbit hole), caps were accidentally becoming magnetized during assembly by one of their machines. This has since been corrected. A simple de-magnetizer tool worked for one customer who did not want to send their device back and the majority of customers did not report an issue. Evolv had some sent in for the fix which is when they discovered what the issue was. Earlier testing units had been built without the machine, hence why they did not have issues. There is a self learning feature of the Cricket as well that iirc applies to the mouthpiece and the magneic field being detected.

We talked about the titanium tub, etching, and de-oxidization of the tank and how that affects flavor. I mentioned I have not dabbed off of titanium but have always heard taste is negatively affected (reviews on the Cricket say the opposite). I also asked how taste would not be affected by the titanium continuing to oxidize in the air. He said the contact points of the tub, which would affect the temperature controlled ability of the device IF allowed to oxidize will not be exposed to the air once secured. He also recommends a self calibration once a month (hold up and down arrows iirc) to keep the tc working optimally.
The tightly controlled temperature keeps the flavor dialed in, in addition to the airflow design they spent many hours dialing in.

We talked about the air flow a bit, the borosilicate tunnel (that he said was very difficult to source in the USA), retailers/distributors in Canada, and a few other things. I'm definitely forgetting some of the other details he mentioned.

After speaking with Brandon I want the device even more. Nothing but good vibes coming from this guy.

It's not for everyone, which is something he mentioned at one point. You can't load up big massive globs. Pre-melting may be a turn off. And the device isn't cheap. Cleaning also looks more involved on the go as opposed to a quick q-tip. I think that's it?

I keep hearing flavor, amazing craftsmanship, and cool, free flowing vapor (at least at the lower temps).

Edit: I apparently can't remember names today lol.

Would you guys consider pre-melting a requirement? How do you guys avoid getting concentrate in the mouthpiece. Is it due to drawspeed, size of the dab, or not a good pre-melt? also how do you get in the discord

Only if you want to follow what the manufacturer says. You don't HAVE to pre-melt, but you will likely get a sticky bubbly mess, and likely a clogged mouthpiece and maybe even concentrate sputtering through to your mouth.

How do you guys avoid getting concentrate in the mouthpiece. Is it due to drawspeed, size of the dab, or not a good pre-melt?

All of the above.

also how do you get in the discord

I'm a newb, but I think you need an invite. I'll look into it if it hasn't been posted in this thread yet.

SEARCH for the treasure...

Using the photo above posted by “fire78”, to make a Cricket Public Service Announcement:

Just a warning about removing the silicone gasket that goes on top of the device, and under the titanium tub.
Not something you would really need to do unless you’re replacing it, I was curious so I carefully pulled it out. It’s not difficult, but I was surprised how tight it was packed in there.

ISSUE was trying to get it back in and FLUSH with the grooves. I spent a lot of time pushing it back in, using more and more finger pressure, but I could tell it wasn’t down far enough. Even tried bolting the tub back in, but the tub pushed up the gasket on the ends a bit, and I knew that wasn’t right. Basically, the top cap/MP would not fit flush back on the device, that’s the biggest clue the gasket isn’t down far enough in the cutout grooves.

I revisited this several times, as I hate giving up on puzzles, and the thought of returning it just to get a gasket installed was close to humiliating….. So I gave it some thought, and remembering how tight it was getting out originally, and the silicone being very soft and pliable, I deduced that perhaps it really has to be crammed down into the grooves. So one last attempt….

Using the flat end of a wooden S&B brush (to not damage the gasket), I began pushing down slowly and evenly working my way around the gasket. When it’s all the way down where it belongs, the (4) metal PINS (holds the tub in place), will be sticking out a bit from the top surface of the gasket, bolt the tub back in and the top cap/MP will go on correctly.

Puzzle solved, just figured I’d share my experience….. I won’t be removing this again, unless I had to!

***NOTE: Doing the onboard temperature calibration is quick and easy, take notice at the very end, the screen will briefly show the ohms.
Mine said “11.8 mOhms - EXCELLENT”.

Looks like there’s a limited batch of blemished Crickets up for sale. They're priced at $249 and come with the full one year factory warranty but you get no accessories or packaging with them.

Here is the Link:

Accessories missing:

Retail acrylic packaging that displays it like figurine when you first get it, 6in usb c cable, spare chimney and 5 spare on board dab containers. Nothing you exactly *need*

Link to discord where this was first announced! (This link should never expire)

Cheers all
