Discontinued Elevape SV

Cloudy...
You're welcome. My bet is the issue you're seeing has to do with the laptop's port not being able to supply full charging current. ESV will happily gobble up more than an Amp (mine runs about 1.08 A). Minimum spec for USB ports is half that, give or take. Some (like laptops) with run time issues are even less. Normally this simply slows charging, but the buzz could be nothing more than the protection circuit kicking in and out and in and out and.....

You might try charging using the wall wort supplied? Mine is only half an Amp, but it's quiet....... I plug mine into the computer to check. Charging does such down on it's own of course.

Best wishes.

OF

I don't think that's the problem, I have been charging and using my unit at the same time using my laptop a lot of times before this one without any problem.

It seems like that buzz had to do something with the orange led. Just once of the multiple times I have been trying conecting the unit to my laptop the orange led started working and the "buzz" was again there. Really weird...

Edit: My unit doesn't charge anymore. It's stuck at 50%
I don't want to try to use it, but it seems like the charging "circuit" is dead althought the unit seems to work if I try to hit it. It seems like I will have to write an e-mail to Joe... It's a shame because I was really enjoying this unit, it has everything I wanted in a portable vape. Vapor on demand, nice tastefull hits and I can use it everywhere... I'm really going to miss this vape :bang:

Hey OF,
I always take your battery device. Since I bought my anker smartIQ USB port, I've been running my omicron lite and Elevape and getting good results. It states that the port determines the fastest way to charge the device you connect. Also, it was my first time I got green on my Elevape.

It's $25 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GTGETFG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Is there anything special about the port or am I just naive???

Well in the end it seems like it's a hardware problem. I'm awaiting answer from the european customer service.

Damn I'm gonna miss this unit, in this time it has become my favourite portable. Hope to have a working unit again soon!!!

I don't have that one, but have similar things which have say a one Amp and a 3 Amp port on them. The difference is important. There are four pins in the USB, two for power and ground and two for data (one in, one out). High power devices (like tablets and cell phones) check those two data pins to see if they are data pins (normal ports) or are isolated and shorted together (high current capable port). It they are shorted, the device knows it's a high current charging port and 'shifts into high gear'.

For instance my new Windows Tablet charges at one Amp normally, but if I plug it into a high current charging port (with the short) it jumps to about 1.7 Amps. I am set up to measure this current, you can determine it by noting recharge times I bet?

I heard there are some people who report combustion with the elevape sv, I was wondering if the stearing lid solved that problem?

Not necessarily, it can keep the bowl cooler, and make it less likely, but causes of combustion are drawing too slow and coil placement. Its really draw, more than anything else, so you also want to keep it clean and I take out mouthpiece screen for better airflow, bottle cap screen method can help too. Its easy to figure out and do consistently imo, theres just a learning curve bc of it. Some do get it right away though

pipe screens
and to get them to fit in the esv i bent the screen over a 18/19mm male joint

also known as bong screens...
maybe someone here can say you the correct size...
the screen i used was only a little bit greater then the screen which comes with the elevape... so i did not have to cut them only bent them and the fitted perfectly...

screens picture:

i bent it using the male part of a 19mm joint

but you can also use other things which have same diameter as the original esv lid screen...

I believe vape dr.s bottle cap uses a 3/4" screen, which you can purchase at any online vape shop, like Vapornation or vapor warehouse.

The post for the bottle cap screen is on page 39 of this thread. I bought my 3/4" screens from vapor warehouse

How does this compare to the ff? I think ill buy one from a fellow member this weekend, my favorite and daily (7bowls a day or so cleaned once a week) with 2 of the updated bats. Hows the flavor? Vapor densinity? Herb efficency to the ff

All better in my opinion, but the learning curve can be much higher. Also I've been through two FFs both different, but Elevape overall better (flavor could be a draw though)

Taste is fantastic...pure..delicious on the EV.

I am now using only level one heat, the lowest on the app and getting good vape...Good clouds. Fantastic taste. 12 hits or more using only a thumbnail amount at fine ground.

Hint:Start at very low temperatures. I like my indica at 412, but the EV works great at 320... pull steady and keep the red light at the same level. Do not let it fade. Pull all the way thru the flashing red.

Tell friends about this vape. Show them how it works. Killer good. Help Joe sell more!

I've had the elevape for almost 9 months now. As my only vaporizor its been amazing. I've realized I appreciate it the most while surfing the other portable vape threads on this forum and watching how far behind they all are when it comes to instant vapor production coming from such a simple form factor. Compared to these other vapes, with my sv I feel like this poor thai slingshot point shooter on this japanese tv show.:D

This is becoming one of my favorite portables. There is such great taste, cool vapor, and No draw resistance. Built solid and I don't know how they got all the technology that can measure your inhale. If I was a medical patient that needs instant clouds, I would choose the Elevape. Keep it close by and you get flavorful hits on demand.

Agreed...it seems as though everything taste great out of the elevape..such pleasing hits..I have been stuck trying all my new flame based portables that I have so fallen for..lily.daisy.vapman but this elevape is my constant on demand..and who doesnt like in demand?

I just did a test, loaded the Elevape full pack medium to fine grind blend of 3 strains, reasonably dry. Was able to get eight hits on 305f with the bottlecap screen and the one on 335f before stirring, nice clouds and taste until the last hit. Then a stir and 3 more hits at 335f. Opened up for another stir and 3 more hits at 365f, looks like it could even go more but i think its done enough for me. Very good results and my coil is pointed down but its not really even that low. So this seems to be the best way to use the Elevape, whether you can stir every hit, or need to take a full pack out and about, so you can get 8 hits before need to crack it open to stir, and you do that just a couple times toward the end and you can reload. I think this is how I will be using it more, and see if the results will be consistent.

Easy, they don't. They simply compensate for the effect of changes in draw. By watching the temperature and holding it constant. Just like 'cruse control' doesn't weigh your car or measure the hill, it just applies power to hold a preset speed. Or how your home furnace compensates for a cold night or open window automatically without checking.

One fun trick is using the air flow switch from cheap 'auto' e-cigs to eliminate the on button. But that just senses air flow past a given point.

Vapourizers braking seems to be the norm. I was looking at the sv as my crafty broke after 2 and a half month use, but I see ppl sending back vapes in all the forums.
