My GonG should be deeper. It is fair shy of the notch on the epick. Just a tad too much and blewie
messy. The GonG are not " adjustabowl" I will return to stock stems with silicone. Works great. Don't pay for a gong imho.
Not sure what you mean here huf, and curious. The nano end of the GonG adapter isn't deep enough to adjust the screen and get a useable distance from heater? If this is the case, I'd suggest you contact Andy for replacement after you're sure it isn't user error. Which direction are you using your screens? Think this would be more of an issue if you are loading into the "basket" side of the screen instead of on the flat side. Scads of info about this through the thread, or PM me and I'll be glad to help. Or, if you're cool with rigging for water with the stem & silicone, you should definitely have at it.
Also, hope others don't heed this advice. Using a stem/silicone is a half-assed workaround at best. Would think it's more likely to lead to breaking glass somewhere along the way, too. Vaping doesn't get much better than a GonG (Epic or Joda) with a bubbler under it and a nano on it IMO.
I just came in to say that after initially testing my device with minute amounts of bud I switched to larger bowls for the sake of getting 'higher' at once.
But I think for me personally, too high of an initial spike for my first blaze of the day kinda keeps me from enjoying it as much as a little bit at a time.
So I'm gonna have to go with small bowls for now.
Random rant/
As testified by many (and me probably close to a million times now), the nano really shines with smaller loads. Think this is a consequence of being so efficient. Since the heating chamber/surface area is so small, all loads tend to suffer after the first few hits. IME, flavor really drops off after 2 without stirring- 4 or so if stirring after every hit. With a larger load there could still be plenty in there to vape, but the heat traveling through the whole load is going to compromise it. If going strictly for effect, I think anyone would be fine jamming as much material as you can in there and stirring every few hits. Not my preferred method, though.
Maybe contrary to what I hear on a regular basis, I am actually pretty patient, but don't think that's the case.
Not sure if all will find this method as simple or pleasant as me, but here's my regular routine. Grind up what I plan to use for that session and any others over the next few hours (usually 1/4 to one gram depending on mood, what's going on, sharing, etc). Dump that into a small bowl (or draw from screen on 4 piece grinder). Draw a small bit of material into the GonG using it like a straw. Throw it on bubbler. Give a quick tamp (don't compress, just to settle/level). Put nano on top and let sit for 20 seconds. Take a hit. Take another. Stir. Take another and maybe a 4th to be sure it's spent as I like. Quick stir. Dump abv. Blow out abv dust. Reload by sucking another load into GonG. Repeat as necessary.
This may seem like quite a process while reading (sure does while typing!
), but takes seconds and has become second nature - almost as automatic as turning a doorknob for me.
... I've had my nano for about three months and finally decided to try it with a water pipe. I heard it was on a different level, and I'm here to tell you that is TRUE. Nothing but smooth cool hits that knock you on your a$$. Unless I break my new wp, I won't be doing dry stem ever! I haven't tried more than 3 bowls with the wp in any one evening, because I get so baked, so I can't say wether there's any irritation with one.
I too had the plenty at the top of my list before getting my e-naon, but I'm so glad I went with the nano instead.
Glad to hear you tried this out
@blamejane ! nano is pretty sweet dry and flavor is fucking amazing, but wet is where she really shines for daily use. Only real downside I've found is the one you've alluded to.... Is so smooth with no irritation through water that is easy to just keep going. Some nights get so vaked I have trouble keeping up with whatever I'm doing and have to think a second to remember how to change the channel or put a different CD on!
Thanks for your input, much appreciated. Would you say the amount of material required for 3-4 bowls in the e-nano are equal, or less, than a full bowl in the Plenty?
I went with Plenty first because I don't plan to use water all the time, and it seemed to deliver a very cool comfortable hit with a lot of potency. I also don't like having to pack numerous bowls to get to my desired high. Instead, I was attracted to the enormous size bowl of the Plenty, because I can pack it once and work through it slowly.
Edit: I thought you owned both, sorry about the bowl question. I was hoping you could compare the too.
I haven't had the opportunity to try a plenty yet, either. Have looked into it a few times but decided on second nano instead. From what I've read here and seen on youtube, looks like the plenty requires 4 or 5 times the material to function well. Hopefully someone with both can confirm (think
@Mr. Gweilo 420 has both and would bet a few others, too). Plenty does look like it can pull clouds right out of the box. But, I haven't had trouble pulling clouds from my nano since the first week or so with it. And while the plenty may do the same with the more material in one load as the nano with 4 or 5, would think flavor will drop off along the way. Compare the initial and long term costs (plenty about twice as much as nano, and doesn't seem to be as efficient from reports) and getting the nano is a no brainer in my book. But, if you're growing your own and find you have too much stash around AND don't mind dropping that much on the vape, think plenty could be a good choice.
