Should it be turning brown after the first hit?
At 6.5-7? Yes. I've been an e-nano user since it was first introduced. That temp range is the high end for me. If you want your load to last longer start at 5-6 and move up. You'll probably also want to stir a time or two. How much you load is up to you. Just keep in mind that a larger load will be closer to the heat, effectively increasing your temp.Should it be turning brown after the first hit?
The weight of the load also doesn't take into account particle size. A fine grind will differ from a coarse grind in how it hits, and is obviously a factor for temp, since a loose pack and/or coarse grind will be nearer the heat. I wouldn't worry about details like weight or grind consistency. Just try different temps and load sizes and find what works for you. Sometimes my load is twice the size it is at other times. I don't dump any out to keep a standard size load. I just take into account when I set the temp. Just use and experiment and you'll get the hang of it in no time. It's a great vape for sipping so you don't end up using too much, and it can also deliver some hefty hits, using with glass, or just starting with a higher temp right off the bat. Many people refer to the load size yet not everyone has a super fine scale.

I've seen some things about a two hit extraction method? Does this work with the dry way and how does it work exactly. Thanks for the other info as well. (:
Not my cup of tea, but yeah you could do that. You can also get a dozen hits from a bowl. It's all in how you want to use it. Different effects from different temps or set it high and get big hits (but fewer, obviously) right away.I've seen some things about a two hit extraction method?
I would use my gong adapter a lot more, but I have my EVO for bigger, filtered hits. The e-nano though, is a great vape for versatility, since it's capable of dosing with stepping up the temp as you go, or bigger hits with higher temps or using with water.I love running through water
There are so many nanos running at different temps, so many herbs at varying moisture levels, so many people with different tastes, draw speed, bowl depth, grind , etc. There is no one method. There just isn't.
Like Max was saying, you just have to experiment until you find what works best for you. I know Caligula has his 2 step extraction method. For me, I need 4 draws on average to get what I want out of my herb. I get great flavor at 6 on the dial, but at that temp the effects are too racy for my heart and mind. So I run mine at 6.5 which give a more roasted flavor rather than the sweet herb flavor, but the effects are more sedative which I like but others would not.
After you run 20-30 bowls through it you'll start to dial in what you want. Glad to hear you're giving the gong and waterpipe a try. Some prefer the stem but I love running through water, you may too.
Good point. I actually have two units (one for the wife), and the newer one runs hotter than my original (at the same temp setting), so temp dial numbers are really just a general starting point. It is so cold in the NE. I have my nano on 8 just to get the same results as 7. My unit is cooler than most.
What exactly is a heat soak? HahaTry letting it heat soak for 5 min, works very well when using lower temps. One time I let it heat soak for 3 hours at 7.5 and ripped great. Probably shouldn't fall asleep during a heat soak, but the e nano will do that to you haha.
Andy: How can I darken my enano without spoil it ??
So aside from sending a Nano back for service what other approaches have folks tried to address a splitting wood Nano? I am a hose clamp and glue types of guy but not much into fixing nice finished wood. Reason I am asking is I can trade a guy for a well travelled split Nano for a used Pax 1 I got in another deal. The split Nano has been back for service at least once so I think its used up its warranty so I am looking for an alternative. Thanks
