Should it be turning brown after the first hit?
At 6.5-7? Yes. I've been an e-nano user since it was first introduced. That temp range is the high end for me. If you want your load to last longer start at 5-6 and move up. You'll probably also want to stir a time or two. How much you load is up to you. Just keep in mind that a larger load will be closer to the heat, effectively increasing your temp.
Many people refer to the load size yet not everyone has a super fine scale.
The weight of the load also doesn't take into account particle size. A fine grind will differ from a coarse grind in how it hits, and is obviously a factor for temp, since a loose pack and/or coarse grind will be nearer the heat. I wouldn't worry about details like weight or grind consistency. Just try different temps and load sizes and find what works for you. Sometimes my load is twice the size it is at other times. I don't dump any out to keep a standard size load. I just take into account when I set the temp. Just use and experiment and you'll get the hang of it in no time. It's a great vape for sipping so you don't end up using too much, and it can also deliver some hefty hits, using with glass, or just starting with a higher temp right off the bat.

I've seen some things about a two hit extraction method? Does this work with the dry way and how does it work exactly. Thanks for the other info as well. (:

There are so many nanos running at different temps, so many herbs at varying moisture levels, so many people with different tastes, draw speed, bowl depth, grind , etc. There is no one method. There just isn't.

Like Max was saying, you just have to experiment until you find what works best for you. I know Caligula has his 2 step extraction method. For me, I need 4 draws on average to get what I want out of my herb. I get great flavor at 6 on the dial, but at that temp the effects are too racy for my heart and mind. So I run mine at 6.5 which give a more roasted flavor rather than the sweet herb flavor, but the effects are more sedative which I like but others would not.

I don't look at the color the herb turns after 1-2 hits. As long as it is not charring. It doesn't matter if the bottom is browning more than the top or vice-versa because I give it a stir after 2 hits anyway. Eventually when I'm getting very little vapor then I'm done with that bowl.

After you run 20-30 bowls through it you'll start to dial in what you want. Glad to hear you're giving the gong and waterpipe a try. Some prefer the stem but I love running through water, you may too. ;)

Not my cup of tea, but yeah you could do that. You can also get a dozen hits from a bowl. It's all in how you want to use it. Different effects from different temps or set it high and get big hits (but fewer, obviously) right away.

I love running through water
I would use my gong adapter a lot more, but I have my EVO for bigger, filtered hits. The e-nano though, is a great vape for versatility, since it's capable of dosing with stepping up the temp as you go, or bigger hits with higher temps or using with water.

Thanks for the tips man, hopefully I can better my results as time progresses and once my water pipe and attachment arrive maybe that'll be my elixir if all fails. Thanks guys =)

I also find that if I want a single awesome hit to equal something close to a bowl hit I set it to 8 and it blows me away, don't think it reaches combustion at that temp either if you're worried as long as your screen is far away it should only cause the material to abv

Try letting it heat soak for 5 min, works very well when using lower temps. One time I let it heat soak for 3 hours at 7.5 and ripped great. Probably shouldn't fall asleep during a heat soak, but the e nano will do that to you haha.

A heat soak is letting your stem get hot with or without it being filled with cannabis.

I'm enjoying a tasty dry stem of GrapeApe and Purple Urkle kief sandwiched in the middle. It tastes wonderful in my nano.

Edit
My temperature is set at 6.50. If I decided to use water I would try 6.75 and see if that felt right.

Carolking what settings would you recommend for those kief sandwich sessions? For both dry stem and/or with water pipe?

Also wanted to say, the dry stem is very underrated. For some reason the dry stem taps me out faster than using the waterpipe. Never thought I'd use the dry stem really because i already had the waterpipe and its so damn fun haha.

I do appreciate the stem more these days. I still use the waterpipe mostly, but when I'm lazy I'll pull out the stem. I like the joint-like experience you get with the stem.

With my nano I never noticed a need to bump up the temp with the gong over the stem. Mine runs hot and the times I tried it at 7 it started to char the herb.

I only heat soak for a minute. That's all it really needs.

On a side note: Nano is still #1, but my mind has been distracted lately by a certain little bugger called a VapCap. This will be for road trips and when I want a quick session.
Another wooden toy.

Andy: How can I darken my enano without spoil it ??

So my first nano split, and although it was probably just bad luck I do live in a very dry climate and I wanted to make sure the wood wouldn't dry out and split again. Especially since I like to leave it on most of the day as that is a huge part of the nanos appeal, the always ready to go factor. My LSV heats up damn fast 2-5 mins but that can be an eternity when you are in pain. So long story short I found this product http://goo.gl/awZo0L Boos Blocks Board Cream it contains only two ingredients natural unbleached bee's wax and food grade mineral oil and it was only like 8 bucks for 5fl Oz which should last practically forever if just used on the nano, if the name seems odd it's because it is marketed for conditioning / restoring butcher blocks, this is the exact type of stuff that is used to seal the firewoods FYI. It has also had the added bonus of darkening up my enano nicely.

Long story kinda short the food safe product, that conditions wood has darkened my cherry nano quite a bit. I have applied it twice the first time I left it on about 20 mins (directions say overnight) but it had just come and I wanted to get some on. The picture is the second treatment in progress a full night this time, I will post a pic in the morning when I buff it out as well. I don't have a pic pretreatment so I included one of the cracked nano which was actually a tiny bit darker than the replacement shell that was put on.

So aside from sending a Nano back for service what other approaches have folks tried to address a splitting wood Nano? I am a hose clamp and glue types of guy but not much into fixing nice finished wood. Reason I am asking is I can trade a guy for a well travelled split Nano for a used Pax 1 I got in another deal. The split Nano has been back for service at least once so I think its used up its warranty so I am looking for an alternative. Thanks

I can't attest to its safety as far as heat tolerances, but I've used a product called "Arcaglass" to bed and repair cracked gun stocks to great effect. Infinitely better than a traditional 2 part epoxy or wood glue. Check the product out, it sands and stains.

Been talking about these forever and have promised pics so here are my Joda custom carbed gongs and @Ratchett like I said my gongs and your aromatherapy dish could be part of a matched collection

A big thanks to @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd for some amazing and awesomely functional gongs.

As promised the cherry nano after a night of conditioning with Boos Blocks board cream, she looks so pretty.

Again split nano for color comparison only, finished in bottom left and top right, it still looks nice and dark like the pic when the stuff was still on it these 2 just have much better lighting that gorgeous cherry color is almost glowing after some tlc as opposed to the dullish look pre treatment.

@howie105 as far as the warranty goes it's 3 years on the wood and lifetime on the heating elements, so it having been sent in once wouldn't "use up" or void the warranty. As for doing it yourself if it's been past three years (I assume epic would still slap a new shell on one that was out of warranty for a price just not free anymore) the 2 most common ways to fill cracks and splits is wood putty (or making your own from sawdust from the piece i.e sand it a bit and mix the dust with wood glue for a perfect color match. However I am not sure what kind of heat this type of repair would stand up to as I have never done it on a piece of wood wrapped around a heating element so... Something like this redbull sized koozie (neoprene insulator) http://goo.gl/hvIGY8 could be a quick easy "fix" as the split will still be there but you save yourself from slpinters pinches ect.

Just got my nano back... Fixed and shipped on the same day it was received.

Its been awhile since I've used it... My daily driver has been the AA, which is decent, but damn!

I am going to save so much using this as my daily driver again.

Its so nice manipulating the temp, rotating the stem, draw speed, basket depth... Making vapor...

Working great and looking good.

Thanks @ACE OF VAPE !
