So I have used my nano 3 times now. It's ok. For the amount of herb I use its great but compared to my crafty the vapor is a little harsh and not as thick. I checked the temp chart earlier in the thread and I have the dial set to what should be a comparable temp to my crafty. The websight said that the e nano out performs all portables so I'm guessing it's a technique issue. I'll keep working with it for sure.

1) How long are you letting it adjust to temp settings (You should give your nano 15-20 minutes to heat up from a cold start before using it IMO)
2) How much are you loading
3) How deep is your basket screen
4) Those temperatures are not exact, by no means will those temperatures match up exactly to your crafty. Nor will your Nano actually hit those temperatures at those settings on the dial

Don't worry! Your experiences are NOT different. Seems at least half of the people on this thread (myself included) had a "meh" session to start. Unlike the Crafty, there are a lot of variables that go into getting the most out of the Nano. You will figure it out with enough practice :science:

@vaplen The most dense vapor I've ever experienced came from a 100% pure convection vaporizer - my Lotus. Vapor so thick you can almost chew it. Sometimes I have to pull the cap and check to confirm I didn't combust! I have not found one conduction vaporizer with enough power to whitewall glass (not saying it doesn't exist, but none of my conduction vaporizers can keep up with the heat required) :2c:

Are you using it dry? I think it really shines through water. I originally got mine because I saw how many people had paired it up with mobius bubblers and such...

The crafty has some kind of "cooling" attachment right? Nano dry stem is just a straight path through glass, maybe try lower temps or positioning the "adjust a bowl" screen further from the heater?

I mean I hit the nano dry sometimes, but yeah, it's a bit harsh that way I think...

It's all about the water tool / nano combo for me...makes me not even care about my other vapes :)

Lots of great tips above. Would like to add one tidbit - though I type it here all the time. nano is super easy to use right out of the box, but it does take a little practice/experience to really make her shine.

As @Ratchett said, seems many have the same first impression. There is plenty of room for small adjustments that can make a good bit of difference. Haven't used a crafty myself, so not sure about direct comparison - but if it uses some conduction that will make things a bit different. If vapor of same material is not as thick, but still harsher, some tweaking is probably the way to go. If it gets as thick (or thicker) and is harsher, OK. If it is not as thick and not as harsh, OK. But, shouldn't be going in two directions at once.

As @Reflections pointed out, that chart is a loose guideline. Your nano in your setup may be cooler, warmer or spot on. Really hard to say for certain.

Check out that link to the best of nano thread in my lengthy post above. It should help get you started with tweaking things.

3) How deep is your basket screen

This right here...makes a huge difference, in my experience. The ability to move the screen closer to or farther from the heating element gives the Nano a wide range of possibilities, especially in conjunction with the temp dial. If you find you aren't getting heavy or thick enough hits, putting the screen a lot closer to the heater will yield some impressive results.

Just be careful...screen too close plus too much heat and you can combust quite easily.

I got a tracking number. So my warranty repair should be back soon. The label was created on the 17th. I will let everybody know when she arrives home. Plus get up some new pics of her. Oh how I have missed my nano these last few months. I can't wait to plug her in and hook her up to my wp.

@FlyingLow I only turned mine off if I was not going to be home. Most of the time I left it on 5-6 so I could enjoy it when I need it.

I've been living in Nanoville for about 2 months and I'm still experimenting and learning things. I like that it takes a bit of skill and experience to get it performing at it's best. No beeps or LCDs, no WiFi or smartphone app, just a simple analog dial and adjustable screen. The E-Nano has alot in common with my guitar. Both made of wood, both relatively simple devices that bring me joy, and if someone tried to take either away from me I'd strangle them until they ceased to be. Cheers.

It's all in the reflexes.
Just had my first successful massive cloud from my nano. Thank you everyone for the advice. I moved my screen down a little so I could get a slightly bigger load in the chamber without getting closer to the heating element. Got a big ol rip and the load isn't even completely spent. Very stoked!!

How many of you all turn your nano's off?
Mine stays between 6-6.5 all the time, 24/7.

Afzelia Burl running about 85% of the time on (except when I'm out of the house for extended weekends, family over, etc). Since July 2014.

Normally run it around 6.5 all the time. Looking forward to getting a nice aromatherapy cup for this nano so I can toss it on the nano when I leave it for a while.

I don't want to start a debate here but I've come to the thinking that big clouds are not a good thing with vaping. If you think about it what you are exhaling is vapor that has not yet condensed back in to oils in your lungs, like the oil that collects in our glass pieces. Your blowing out all the good stuff. I've started to do smaller pulls and then letting a little out then inhaling cooler air. Do that a few times on the exhale. The idea is not to exhale any vapor I think, although that might be impossible. I could be wrong.

Play with it some more. It only gets better!

I feel the logic there for sure. But I like blowin out tasty clouds. It's part of the pleasure for me. I smoked for so many years. It's just a mental thing.

I hear ya, but I try not to blow too many big clouds either. Also enjoy the double (or more) inhale to get the most I can out of things. If you like the big clouds, have at it and have fun! But, I'm of the opinion that bigger clouds out is less that ends up inside. Much discussion here on FC (and around the interwebs) that the more vapor exhaled, the less you're getting. So, I try to keep the inhaled clouds reasonable and if I want to see big clouds in the room I turn on a vaporizer. No, not the kind we're all on here talking about - one of these :D

I'll add another point for consideration.... the distilled water that goes into the Vicks is much cheaper and easier to come by than anything creating vapor from my nano.

The E-Nano definitely cured my VAS as well in terms of a desktop. I'm just not all that interested as I don't think there is anything around that would be better for me. Portables though?!

I hear ya! If it weren't for the price I'd probably be jumping on a crafty or mighty. Am sure they are both great vapes, but not enough for me to spend that kind of $$. One of my prime directives of vaping (and smoking before) is "Don't buy anything that costs more than a Z."

Right now it takes 3 to keep me happy with portables, but think either of those would probably cost twice as much as these 3 together! (Solo, MFLB, vapman) These are OK (though room for improvement on each), and with inverter for car nano will be "semi-portable". Other than that, like most here I'm waiting for Andy to work his magic with portable DC power.
