A fat yellow rubberband from a lobster claw was best I found, or a stretched fat blue one from broccoli. Trick is to not put it all the way over the dial - just a little bit with most on the housing. It should be enough to hold it in place, but still allow for a little movement when you need it. And, who doesn't like a little fresh lobster once in a while? They even come with two rubber bands!
Really like the hair scrunchy idea, too.
Ever since I had my dial replaced (8 or 9 months ago), this hasn't been an issue. Really not sure if I just eventually learned not to bump it, or if the dial I have now is that much more rigid. Probably a combination of the two, and the fact that my original dial would move if you looked at it sideways. New one, not so much. This dial (and the one I just had for a few days on a used nano I picked up for a friend) were a few of the last of those on "connected" cords (not detachable). Not sure how those on detachable cords are in comparison.

Random points over the last week or so:
Recently switched grinders and noticed how different sessions feel and the effects of the link between finer grinded material and cloud production.
Friend gave me some pressed hash that I've been attempting to prop close to the heater using the sandwhich technique. Never enjoyed cotton for some reason, but I think I need to revisit what some of the more experienced people are doing, but it really is wonderful to pop the heater up 2-3 notches above the usual for herb and steaming through some polm.
I like a pretty fine grind, myself. I use a 2 piece space case and try not to twist so much to make it too fine. Definitely leads to bigger clouds and less stirring in the stem/GonG. Dryness of material will make a big difference, too. Sometimes more moist material will give a prettier cloud, but think much of that just water vapor. So while pretty, not as potent per hit IMO. And, nothing wrong with that at all (especially if doing a vid or impressing friends), but think I like my material a bit drier than most by the time it's in the stem.
For hash, I try to stay away from sandwiching. If it is gummy and seems like it will melt quickly I'll put a thin layer of flower between it and and the screen so as not to make a mess. But, usually it will stay pretty much intact (the "homemade" stuff I usually get anyway), so throw it in there by itself. What I've found with this and kief is that if you're not careful the flower will be spent before what you're sandwiching. Really no problem with that except the popcorn taste, but why deal with that when you're extracting pretty interesting flavors from the other stuff? So, think better to use as little flower as possible and adjust nano for the other. Usually, kief lower temp than flower and hash a good bit higher temp.
Even "dry" hash will leave a bit of residue on the screen. When spent, I dump, crank the nano up to 10 and give it a couple hits til no vapor. Then use the e-pic to scrape the char off and a quick blow to clean it out. That screen usually into the cleaning jar a little quicker, but seems to work well for a few sessions of bubble every so often. If it does goo the screen up badly, just replace with a clean one.
Dry is nice. But, you should really check out a cheap water piece. It is definitely a game changer with this vape! Only three problems I've found with it. 1) Dry hits are still tastier, but moisturized ones just "feel" better. 2) You gotta keep the glass clean. Not a big deal, but something else to keep track of and do. 3) This is the killer..... Once you get started with glass, it's very hard not to catch the dreaded GAS (glass acquisition syndrome)!
