@Enchantre you must let me know where affordable local glass is in Western Washington. I've only seen marked up Chinese and very expensive local. I bought one $80 locally made piece that was a disappointment once I actually put water in it.
I live in the Olympia area, so I favor
Tony's Variety Store. All glass (except my HT) in my vids/pics come from there. ...nor the J-hooks. But, my bubbler, and my baby bubbler, my torches, and my nails, I get there. I drool a lot there - and they actually hooked me up with FC!
just a question about cheap glass (sorry if its off-topic but not really because i plan on using it strictly with my e-nano); what are the major differences between cheap glass and brand name in terms of performance?
There is really none, for equivalent pieces.
I don't buy "brand name" either (except for the Healthstone) - I got two nice pieces from my LHS that were locally done, and priced competitively with any piece I've found online
except for at DHgate. I got a "natural perc" piece first, when I got my Nano (see, this is on topic), which works with it perfectly. The amount of water determines your filtering/chug, and there is minimal flavor loss. I'll find a pic, really.
That piece cost me $40. I still have it. I still love it. and, somewhere, deep in my heart, I am happy to know that it is locally made. (it could have been $60, but it doesn't seem like it, when I think of it. I did get a cutsie piece for my oil rig there that did cost $60... but I'm pretty sure that first piece was only $40).
