I have the older version where the plug is built in. Are there any problems associated with this?
I've got an old Gen 1 (one of the first 20 made - #12? #13?) that I've had since new in March '13. My dial developed a loose connection about 6 months ago. Probably my fault for being so rough with it. I regularly just wrap the cord around it hastily and throw it in a bag or coat pocket to take with me. Sent it to Andy for repair. Not only did he repair it, he upgraded it to the level of a new one back in June... New longer cord with new dial, some tweaks inside, tightened and refitted the heating element and even gave the wood a nice new coat of wax and buffed to a lustrous shine. Had it back in less than 10 days (8 IIRC). My cost? Shipping one way. Think I recall one other person having the same issue with the older attached cord. Not sure if you have the older, shorter cord or the updated longer one. Think the updated longer one (still attached) has been more reliable.
So, to answer your question.... Are there any problems? Possibly an issue, but I wouldn't really consider it a problem. Had been trying to get around to sending it in for the updates and this finally made me do it. To have a total refit, clean up and wood refinish and maybe a goody or two thrown in when it came back
- no problem IMHO. Only real problem for me was using the old EQ for the 10 days I was without.
Everyone should keep this story in mind when your shipping is a little delayed or you're having trouble getting a response from Andy or Nadia. There are many similar ones throughout this thread. They seem to have a pretty good bit going on for only the two of them, and Andy passes his overhead savings on to us. I've dealt with more than a handful of internet vendors for vapes, related equipment and damned near everything else. Have rarely had anything close to this level of service, care and concern from anyone other than Epic. And, that's on top of creating, building and selling the best vape out there for the price and availability.
All reports indicate that Alan, of HI fame, is the same or better, but I'm still on that one year plus waiting list. There are others who seem to be at least as good to their customers, like Ed of Ed's TNT and of course VaPeD&CoNfUsEd with Joda and Snappo - king of the beautiful wood. Magic Flight has also been great to me and others, and I'm sure there are other vendors/manufacturers I'm forgetting at the moment or haven't heard of. But, really don't think you can go wrong with an e-nano or Epic. Great product for a fair price and excellent customer service if you can excuse the sometimes slow email replies, or having to send a second message. IMO no big at all. I have good friends who are the same or worse with such things, and still count them as close friends. Sometimes it's just a bit hard to keep up. Nano! Nano!
