If I leave mine on high heat (7-9+) for a little while it gets almost too hot to hold. Is this normal?

It's remarkable how much ambient temperature plays a role. While 7-9 may be hot in the summer, it may feel like a nice hand warmer in the winter. That said there is really no reason to leave it on above 7. The heat up time from from a warmed up 7 to 10 is minimal.

I am trying to figure which vape to recommend to him. Based on that limited information, do you think the nano would meet his needs? That is true, I should try to remember to turn the temp down more often. The Nano makes me forget things sometimes.

If he truly only smokes one bong hit per day, I wouldn't even spend the money on a vaporizer. I'm no doctor, but if his usage is that low I wouldn't be concerned with any negative health outcomes from smoking such a small amount. That said, if he still wants to invest in a vaporizer, the Nano would be an excellent choice for him as he could load a very small amount say .02g and take his one hit lol....and a gram would last him almost two months!!!

The Nano is a very efficient device. And it has impressed several of my combusting friends.

But, I have generally found the Lotus vape more 'accepted' by my combusting friends as it feels more natural to them.

Both would make a great choice - the Lotus is a fun vape especially for people who have smoked bowls and bongs their whole life, but there is a learning curve to it. The nano is pretty easy to set up, hand to a friend and say go for it.

Don't it, though! Last weekend I got the munchies something fierce. Had a tasty bowl of ice cream. Guess what was sitting on the counter the next morning? Yep! The still open ice cream! Even washed the bowl when I was done and still missed it. Luckily only about a bowl left that was wasted.

Here is my review after about 4 days of use:
I bought the walnut E-nano order 390, finish looks great and is very stealthy, no need to hid it away if you have guests. The power cord is long and don't see it needing it to be longer and the variable temperature is a nice feature.
Very little learning curve on how to use it, I just start it at 7-7.5 and it's good to go, great taste at the lower temperatures and even at the end when I am using it at 9 it's not harsh which was a big surprise (became just a bit dark brown not black). There is some resistance when pulling on the stem but I don't find it too bad, I think might be due to the small diameter stem along with the actual material you are pulling air through. The big plus is that is uses much less material that I was using with a volcano (hard to say how much but 25-50%?).
The E-Nano I find has similar taste as the volcano, the heat up is faster on the volcano but is a non-issue for me (E-nano is quick enough), no resistance when using the volcano bags and bigger hits, great if you have some people over, the nano is silent the volcano bags do make some noise (plastic noise? lol).

Overall very happy with the E-nano and I don't see me using the volcano that often.

Also a great company to deal with.

Guess I'll have to order some more already, no Nano for a little bit though. Might give the defected GonG a try with hash but I have a feeling it will scorch. At least I still have the Solo as backup.

thanks for the feedback/review Voodoo401! You'll find that the grind does affect airflow, so I personally don't grind at all! I just break it down with the ePik as it gets drier/darker...airflow is top notch using a basket screen adjustable.

I've been experimenting alot with different concentrates lately (budda, shatters) on temp MAX...just a tiny dab in organic cotton, and WOW....super thick milk, and instantly too!

I will probably get one eventually, even if I don't like it it would be a great backup. I really like the adjustability of the glass stems though, from what I read Ed's wooden ones are more limited?

Brand new, they look very thick compared to Solo stems.
Not sure what happened with the GonG, they have broken in pretty much exactly the same way but with the GonG it happened in a matter of minutes while the unit was still heating up and with the stem I left it on the unit while it was too hot and forgot to ever turn it down.

Damn Dude! You're having the worst luck! I'm feeling guilty over here. Had my nano less than a month. Already have two stems, two 14mm GONGS, one 19mm GONG, and I have a custom 19mm GONG on order from @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd

As if that wasn't enough, I'm also working with @Snappo on some exotic Afzelia burl wood for a custom Nano

my new thicker stems and gong's have taken a shit kicking, falilng on to hardwood floors, on to counter tops, etc. without a scratch! Solo stem would have easily broke, and has before! lol

I have 2 x 14mm GonG's with glass screens that are simply amazing!

I misplaced or lost my only 18mm GonG.

I guess it's time to order a new 18mm thick one with a glass screen?

Cotton is good in the 14mm GonG as well.

I don't find them limiting at all. Like everything else in life, I learn to adjust, adapt, innovate. Load, pack, temp, distance from heater tip, variables etc. But that's just me - I like glass, I like wood a lot better. I like meat. I like smoked meat a lot better.

That sucks @dos equis . I've got one GonG still in the rotation for more than a year. Don't think it's ever been off the nano for more than a week in that whole time (maybe 10 days once). Never have had any trouble with cracking/breaking even pulling one from my coat pocket in sub-freezing temps and having it on a hot nano in 5 minutes. And, really never worry about it with the newer heavier glass.

I occasionally heat sink for a couple minutes at pretty high temp (8.5 - 9 for me) with hash, but usually don't leave my glass on my nano. Leave the GonGs in the bubbler and pull nano, or stand the stem in a little holder I use. Maybe leaving them joined is contributing to your problems? Definitely shouldn't, but weird they're cracking like that on you.

I have broken some glass in my time. I can be a clutz, even stone cold sober. Glad I've had no issues with this stuff, but sorry to hear you're having so many.

On another note..... for those of you out there with a D020-W, have you tried hanging your e-pik on the mouthpiece? Gives that freaky ring of glass a purpose! Have tried hanging the e-pik on pretty much everything I use it with, but never really worked well or looked good with any but this IMO. Keeps it handy, prevents me from "losing" it 5 times a night and think it looks pretty cool hanging there. Very nice if you're prone to sitting back on the couch with nano in one hand, and bubbler in the other! Just lay the nano in your lap or on the arm of the couch, use your e-pic for a quick stir, and you can be back at it while never losing a beat.

@ataxian - get the adjust-a-bowl if you haven't tried one yet. You'll love it!!

@Snappo - I'm going to resist the temptation to comment on your meat smoking, but be careful dude! You made me laugh and cough out a nice hit.

Smoked meat, as in turkey, beef, pork, ham, sausage, fish, chicken, etc... DELICIOUS AND JUICY!!!
