Cloudy...
If any Ballr owners also own a Tempest head, could you please share your compares/contrasts? :leaf:
I would love a comparison between the Tempest and the THC cap, wasn't able to score one in the EU shop, there were out of stock when I tried. But I have a HD and 2 Tempest, quite excited for this new cap.

Does anyone have links to storage accessories that would fit the THC cap with a Hyperdyn stem and mouthpiece? I lost my Launch Pad in a declutterring mishap, and don’t have anyplace to cool this bad boy. Or a way to take it out and about. TIA for your assistance.

These are essential gear for the TED-style vapes. You can not only speed up the cooling necessary for checking the roast, etc, but you can arrest the roast to some degree for when you intend more than one go. They're magnet-capable but work well with non-sticky vapes too.

I wonder if Futo would make an XXL stash? My og Hyper came in one built for it, maybe this could have one, too. They've also made 2-vape stashes so you can carry your Omni, your Vong, and herbs and a poker. Maybe a similar side-by-side one (a space for the vape and a space for the cap/extra ball capsule) would work as well as an extra long one?

Thank you. This is fabulous. I found a carry device on Amazon, but I will grab one of these. Thx

Shomni shoutout!

I have long passed the days where every DynaVap offering grabbed my attention. I long ago un-subscribed from DV's mailing list and third-party mailing lists. I have and continue, however, to be a DV fan....even jumping onto the Simrell, Ed's TNT, FUTO and other bandwagons throughout history. A couple years ago I down-sized my DV collection to two pieces only. I kept one 2018 Omni XL and one Shomni. At that time I had newer pieces and older rigs too....but I really liked these two the most and I decided that these two rigs are all that I really need. I was right.

So I've been using the XL for some time now but it went into ISO for some light cleaning. I grabbed my trusty old Shomni and man the air-flow is just superb on that little piece. I will say that after spinning an XL under a torch for the last many many sessions it was not so easy to spin that little shorty in my hand. I feel a bit clumsy with the little guy.

I continue to really appreciate my two DV rigs. I appreciate them even more now that I don't chase every release, re-release, and all the other third party DV related bits and their accompanying social media adverts. Given the news cycle these days I am finding myself drawn to cannabis and my Dynavaps more and more....so I thought a shout out was in order!

Edit: Another shout-out. I am a bit OCD and I am ALWAYS ultra prepared when it comes to cannabis use (despite my relatively low use volume). So when I got into DV's some years ago I bought extra o-rings, extra caps, extra tips, extra dynawax, extra screens etc etc. I swear to you that I still have ALL those extra bits which proved largely unnecessary. Any DynaVap is the ultimate 'forever' rig for their durability, functionality, and for the many ways that they can be heated. The fact that DV releases and re-releases various differing rigs is particularly funny to me given that a consumer could by an "M" and use that same rig for the rest of his/her life without any add-ons whatsoever. Both of my Omnis still look as if they were new. Sure I am partial to my two specific rigs....but frankly....the differences between these and my many old rigs was in the minutiae. These days I no longer concern myself with minutiae lol.

Maybe a stylus case like this will work for you.

Wanted to thank @BallzMcVinegar and @ubardog for your help. I got in touch with Rugiwerks and will get a lovely cooling unit from them and found this https://a.co/d/hwpCgzE on Amazon. For now I’m letting it cool down in my water piece and I’ve found a nice spot for it on my vape station.

Today I swapped out the media in the THC to put the stainless steel balls in and to try the Wand. I decided to keep it in convection mode.

This was not a fun experience, but I stayed patient and was ultimately successful getting the top back on the core. It. Was. A. Pain. In. The. Ass. I won’t do that again.

And the IH was a bust. The Wand, at least for me, isn’t the tool for the job. But. My Mini-Blazer is. So.

I find I’m getting bigger hits from the same strain using the SS balls. I’ve done two heating cycles and will try third in a minute. I don’t expect a 4th but will try for the sake of science, and report back.

EDIT: The 3rd heating cycle was fabulous. The 4th no appreciable vapor. So 3 it is.

Dynavap Vong riding the line

Excellent vapor production with vong. 1g bowl. Flower only. With this tripod wand heating technique.

I am using the bong/ first ash catcher as guide or queue to stop heating the wand to avoid combustion/overheat + air draw speed control

I would imagine a hyperdyn tip will be a monstrous rip

So I think I found my ideal setup for the time being. I had been using my previous "ideal setup" for the last almost 2 years and didnt spend anything on VAS while enjoying the saving of money. I got an itch during the halloween sale to try some of the new offerings.

Halo Tip: Took this off my MiniWynd. I get a nice even roast and no scorching. It does a great job at managing the heat. I usually set my screen to 1/2 bowl but for some reason there was noticable flavor difference from a full bowl setting. A first for me to notice a difference and I preferred the full bowl setting and just 1/2 filling it. Replaced my B tip as the daily. I even bought the M7 Ti tip to see if it might be better for me. I ended up putting that on the MiniWynd and it was a solid swap.

BB Vapes Heat sink: From their Jet Pack for the Shellshock stems. This has been a great accessory for making this my ideal length and heat management on every setup I use.

Ti M+ Classic ( Gunmetal) w/ Ti condenser: It was an impulse buy during the halloween sale. All of my other dynavaps are bare metal. So this is the first one I have with a coating. Im surprised how much I like the feel of the coating. Feels kind of like an egg shell. I wasnt sure how I would feel about a coating because Id be kinda bummed if it got scratched up but Im glad I got it. Since it stands out among all my other dynas.

Simrell Eco Brass Mouthpiece (non-stinger): Ive always liked and wanted a simrell mouthpiece for my collection but the prices are hard to justify on some of them and I really dont use intercoolers so a stinger would be ideal . I feel they are the most aesthetically pleasing to me. He had a small introductory run that was at a great price so I jumped on it. Im really glad with the way it all came together and it even ended up being almost perfectly balanced too. So it doesnt feel wierd in hand. That wasnt planned but a nice byproduct.

Overall I think this will be my daily this year. I dont feel I need to experiment much more. This is perfect for me. Its been fun trying to find my ideal set up. I feel there isnt much left for me to explore. Im sure my bank account is glad to hear that.

I’m really surprised at the lack of comments on the THC. It’s my favorite offering from DV. Ever.

A lovely Cocobolo Omni was my first vaporizer in’17. And my first experience with Dynavap. I was blown away by the community, customer service, and the inquisitive mind of George; always pushing for improvement.

As my vaporizing needs and likes change over the years I gravitated to desktop ball vaporizing and convection or hybrid handhelds, TM2 and Solo III.

I came back to DV last year with the release of the Woodwynd and was really impressed. Still am.

But the THC has me reaching for it over my Oldhead Terp Hammer occasionally. Especially on weekends mornings. I’m running it through my Sneaky Pete Mega Cube with a whip and it delivers incredibly thick vapor. And quite tasty too.

Any more love for the THC or am I on an island alone. Either is ok as long as I have the THC, a clean bong and some sticky icky.

You're not alone! After trying a more powerful torch (PB207 or Firefox) I think it's fantastic. I liked the Hyper stock but I like the THC much more. I haven't flipped the capsule yet or tried different balls but those look like really cool options. I think for HyperDyn owners it's a no-brainer; for users entering the portable ball vape market it's a great option. It's main weakness is price, comparatively.

How Soon Is Now?
still had a shomni condenser lying around and due to the fact that the short dynavap length with the bodies is my preferred option i had to find something that fits. unfortunately dynavap discontinued to make these bodies and i was certain i needed something built for it. i met an awesome guy in our fb group who is pretty talented when it comes to titanium engineering. a short chat after he made me this and i am so stoked. i wanted nothing fancy but still some class to its shape. he did a tremendous job. so happy with this little fella!

shomni's sure are popular. Is there any desernable advantage over the xl or is it just a aesthetic thing? I got no desire the shorten mine.

Not really. The XL is a bit cooler, easier to spin/handle, etc. The Shorty's not bad, it spins better than Ms, etc, but it's mostly a neat thing to have. What's nicest is that they were able to scale the two bodies so well, they both look fantastic. I really like the short Omnivongs--I wish there was a short Hydra body.

That's kind what I figured, since I very much dislike the refilling and variable results of jet lighters, spinability is completely irrelevant to me, more important is tactile feel of the airport so I can vape by braille, which is why I'm gonna sell my older omni.

I agree that the lighter matters, and so does having a full tank. I get 2 heat cycle extraction with a full tank with my mini-blazer but it takes 3-4 when it’s low.

This gets mixed reviews but it looks like a PB207 with a bigger tank:

My Firefox needs to be just under full, I think, to turn down enough to work well. I usually heat a window for a couple seconds and then rotate it slowly to the opposite window for a couple seconds and so forth til it clicks.

How are you doing with the smaller ballr? I haven't played with it for a few days but I definitely have some dialing to do with it.

You guys got me looking for THC @ DynaVap & it turned up nothing, so I have to ask…what’re y’all talking about?

Ah, its a cap. I don't use the caps any more. I use my dynavap tips with various stems or bonger/stem combos and an Underdog ACXL log vape for the heat source. Best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned. With the Dynavap and the iWand I got a lot of flashover or else it took several draws to toast. The iWand has "temperature" settings that don't measure temp at all, they're all timers. So the longer you use the iWand the hotter it gets and the harder it was (for me) to estimate when things were cooked "enough" - various counts after the click aren't very helpful when the temp at the click is already highly variable.

But with the Underdog, I can home in on the setting I want (you vary the heat by varying the supplied voltage) and then you can just set it and forget it. With the stems that come with the Underdog I always got some volcanoing, and with the Dynavap and cap, I'd end up with combustion half the time and under cooked the other half.

With the dynavap tip mounted to a stem and in the Underdog for heat (caps won't fit), it cooks way more evenly. I get very little if any volcanoing and NO combustion, even if using a dynavap tip with my bong and I just set the heater on top there. I left it for 15 minutes once - no combustion. You CAN MAKE it combust by upping the temp at the variable voltage supply, but its readily avoidable.

The dynavap tips let you use regular screens (not the DV screens they are only good for holding up the dosing capsules) and they will always be at the same depth inside that tip - the UD stems you have to make and set a basket screen and I, at least, was never sure I was really getting that basket back in there at the proper height. Always took me a lot of fiddling. Much less fiddling this way and very repeatable from one session to the next.

Ed's Woodscents makes a tip that is supposed to fit in his log vapes and supposedly also the Underdog Alpha - I ordered one over a week ago but its not here yet so I can't say for sure it fits the UD, but it should at least fit Woodscents. Or you can rig an "air lock" at the business end of the stem over your DV tip to fit around or inside one of the other DV models (Alpha, SC3) heater cores, and this does work, but it means you have to remove the tubing every time you refill. I use the bonger adapter to fit dynavap tips into various stems, or they fit straight in to anything with an 8mm ID.

But to use stock Dynavap tips, directly without air locks or adapters, you need the Underdog ACXL.

The Underdog ACXL is a custom piece at the moment. Every once in awhile a couple may turn up in a regular drop but if you want one, best to order one.
