I don't know why, but I always feel a little better when photos reveal that I am not alone in my foibles. Addiction loves company...

I still turn my Vapcaps instead of spinning them. And I do not really think that there is much of a difference in the end. But now I have to try it... Damn. ;)
It took a bit to get the twirl down but now it is second nature. And much easier, even, with the XL.
@antispleen's twirl up there is exactly right (for me).

Bee’s wax mixed with an oil of some sort to soften it. Candle supply stores should have bulk wax. Food based oils might go rancid as a word of warning.

This is what I use. The small jar would be enough to finish hundreds of Vapcaps and should last years.
http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?p=20087&cat=1,190,42950&ap=1

All the organic derived ,hot or cold pressed oils will eventually either go rancid
( like : olive,coconut,walnut,cottonseed,sunflower,sesame seed ,almond ,corn ,i.e )
or solidify
( flax/linseed,hempseed,tung ).
There's not even a single organic oil that will last for more than 3 years .

Mineral oil ( liquidum paraffinum ) ,from the other hand will last forever ,but should better be avoided.

Essential oils (produced by distillation ) last for pretty long time and they are volatile ,
but they tend to be expensive enough to be used in quantities that will disolve beeswax into a balm .
Add also the fact that most of them have a very strong odor.

Could you elaborate on that? I use food grade mineral oil on my wood cutting boards all the time, don't see why I would stop using it on my wood stems.
For wood cutting board there's no problem ,at all.

But for breathing hot fumes of mineral oil ,that's another thing .

Where can I get a igniter like the photo above? (I have plenty of LIGHTER'S)
@paehtod do you know?
@ataxian I noticed this above. Do you mean the Induction Heater in @paehtod' s post?

That is from @Pipes. Here is the thread about it. http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/vapcap-induction-heater-for-desktop-and-in-car-use.23211

It is a great way to get away from the lighter. Your wife would approve. I think you would like it. Here is the faq... https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_202eBzWeF7rkTjqV5sWumPxtbSNtfjqOZEs1i9d16k/edit

I think the PortSide would make the most sense for you as you don't have to keep it plugged in (only for charging) and I suspect you will mostly use it at home so you won't need the smaller size of the Mini.

Farkas

Do you know about the bird?
Does anyone know how a chap would go about making his own "dynawax" ?

Thanks :)

I make lip balm out of beeswax and coconut oil, and as others will attest to, the same combo works great to both condition wood vapes and use as lube for the o-rings. I use a ratio of two parts oil to one part beeswax and it yields a nice product that warms and melts easily when you swipe your finger over it.

The wood in your vapcap shouldn't be getting so hot that it's vaporizing the finish on the outside or the inside for that matter. The vaporization temperature of mineral oil is 600F which would burn the wood. Even the O-rings would be in serious trouble up past 450F. All this being said, don't get wax or mineral oil on your tip.

Just a dude
Thank you for the info :) @pxl_jockey . I didn't know that . I'll be sure to check them out
 No problem my friend. Funny OT: I initially mistyped "Mo problem", lol! Mo money, mo problems!
I must have been stoned (what?!) when replying earlier, because I didn't answer your questions fully. The diameter you want is 12mm or 1/2 inch, depending where you are. The official DynaMag-TM is only about 1 or 1.5 mm thick. Doing what you proposed is a great way to use a magnet (particularly if you can find a thin one like the DM), just a drop of superglue = job done!

One of our esteemed members suggested just popping the magnet on an Altoids mint tin, no glue! I use this solution around the house, it'll cool your cap right down and I use the empty tin for temporary ABV storage. VC lovers have come up with lots of ways to use their magnets, you can use the search (upper right) for "Dynamag" or "diametrically" in just this thread and that should give you even more ideas! :peace:

@ataxian The "igniter" is the Pipes Induction Heater your good friend pxl_jockey told you about before thanksgiving. Dude! You don't even listen to me tho! :D You absolutely need one of these. PM me with any questions or some kind soul will point you in that direction. I would, but you wouldn't listen to me. :haw:

I ordered 5 of them the other day. They don't have any 14mm currently, but give it a week or two. Minimum order is two, and at five you get a bulk discount

Or pick up an 18/14mm reducer and the 18mm J hook for an even more versatile piece.

@antispleen that's great. What an excellent find.

@ataxian really good to see you're enjoying the M.

Induction is my preference when it comes to heat source and I wouldn't be without mine now.

The torch does a bang on job for extracting the goodies and so do @Pipes induction heaters.

The IH does it quietly which I'm finding adds a more relaxed feel to the ritual.

Take a look thru @Pipes thread and have a think about which model you can see yourself using.

Myself I'm battery powered for mobility.

I think you'll enjoy it.
