While the Vapcap is stealthy and I really like it, using a torch eh not so stealthy. However if you're out on a boat all alone, then I guess you can say it is.Very tempted to try an M. Seems people have chucked some high class vapes for the VC. Stealthy while fishing is the goal actually. Little niches in ways of being stealthy in very different situations have a hand in VAS.

Very cool with the O-Rings @stardustsailor ! Are they of the same material as the Dynavap ones?
Also, a question about the durability of the Cap: will the Caps degrade over time until they won't work/click anymore, or are they build to last a lifetime?
But the "clickers" ( aka "snap discs" ,"bimetallic discs" ) have an average life range of just 3000 to > 100 000 clicks, depending on their quality (materials made of) and actual use ( or abuse = overheating ).
Has anyone worn out a cap yet?
How does one vote for a posting to become part of the Best-Of thread? I think the whole posting (not just my quote) belongs there!

Assuming a click includes both the heated and subsequent cooled click...
I vape maybe 5 times per day with each session having 3 heating cycles. So, at the minimum life span with no abuse to the cap, 3000 ÷ 15 cycles per day = 200 days. At the max of 100,000 clicks ÷ 15 = 6,666 days ÷ 365 days = 18.2 years of beautiful vapor filled days.
I have caps that are almost 2 years old that are still performing like the day they magically arrived at my doorstep. So far they have exceeded the minimum potential lifespan of only 200 days.
I'm hoping my caps last a few decades......
@VCBud - if you are enjoying the Vapcap so much how about showing them some love by reviewing them on your YT channel?
Be kind to your cap ,meaning that you do not overheat it and you do not allow your dog to chew on it.
Respect the click.
Then your VC cap should last for many years.
Cheers.
How do you measure the amperage on the cap? There is no electricity in the cap as we use it. The 10A they are talking about is the limit switch contacts. You don't need no stinking switches.
I think you guys are overthinking these caps. It's just two (2) dissimilar metals smooched together that have two different heat expansion rates. They are used extensively through the furnace industry, to control overheating, or for keeping the fan from pushing non heated air into the climate controlled area, by way of micro switches. Not trying to be a smart ass. I'm a retired electrician, (45 years). I used limit switches on a regular basis. Doc
Can't really answer that.Oh no....I'm finding I need to overheat the cap on the 3rd cycle by 3 seconds to get that great vapor when I'm using my wonderful Jarhead heater. Can one of you math whizzes tell me how many years of cap clicking I'm losing by doing that? Or is there a work-around?
