Well, both my M and Ti woody XL-S tips are not staying into their bodies. Only 2 months of use and now they seem to fall out more than stay in. Sent an email to DynaVap, hopefully they will have a solution. I am by no means rough or careless with any of my vapes/glass/etc so this is kind of surprising to me. I probably clean them like every two days, always "lubed" the orings and keep the wood body with a pristine shine.
Maybe they just got a bad batch of o-rings??
Without having a deep knowledge about wood I can only imagine (not even speculate) one thing.
Wood gets affected by relative humidity from the ambient environment.
It absorbs or expels water content as vapor.
As a direct consequence of this ,the volume of wood is rather a dynamic figure and not so static.
Frequently lubricating the o-rings and waxing the wood stem/body of a VC may lead
the wood becoming hydrophobic or act as a hydrophobic porous material.
Wood pores and fibers get "overloaded" with fatty and oily substances and with a bit
of help from a hot & dry climate the water content of the wood gets "kicked out" .
And can't easily return back .
In your case most probably -based on the whole concept -
the wood got dried up and shrinked .
That would explain the tips falling off.
There's no way that the Viton o-rings managed to carve - by friction - the hardwood stem/body
in just two months period !
So it must be the wood itself that got shrinked / deformed in some way ,right ?
Still my knowledge about wood is very limited.
So,the actual reason behind the phenomenon
you're experiencing might be a totally another thing ,that I'm not aware of.
In that manner I can't really suggest you to spray the stem/body
with a bit of water and wait till the next day .
Cheers.
