How can you upgrade an OG?

Receiving all of this pic = OG upgrade me thinks.

Excessive overheating of the cap will cause damage to the cap over time. I can see Dynavap releasing a special high temp concentrate cap. I never heat past the click, and all my caps are fine. Even my fist gen cap which was purchased over a year ago still clicks, and I overheated that a lot.

A Reddit thread has got me intrigued.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Dynavap/comments/6akh11/is_this_supposed_to_happen_are_caps_consumables

Are caps really only good for about a year of use?

Hearing about them crack with use is a bit worrying. And someone there seems to confirm they are meant for only a few months use.

Time intervals aren't gonna be that useful when talking about cap life. Need info on frequency of use, number of heat cycles, flame temps, etc.

As @Farid pointed out, overheating could lead to shorter cap life than if you're obeying the click.

Herb gardener...
I rarely post here as this thread is far to busy for me, but I was on the dynavap train quite early on....

Finally decided to see what these new tips are like....

I'm planning to take the new, unused woody to America soon for my holiday.

Have people flown with vapcaps???
Should I put it in carry on or checked luggage???

My first cap from over a year ago still clicks like it did on the first day. I think with proper care and use, these thing will last pretty much indefinitely

I'm less worried about it not clicking (I know pretty much exactly how long to heat it, I don't need a click anymore really, so I wouldn't replace my caps just for that), but actual cracking/deforming in the metal? That's the real issue. How the hell does that happen?

This type of thing is why I seldom go to reddit and never rely on it. Caps do fail, and think we've seen some comments here about it way back, but don't think there is an expected number of uses or specific amount of time. I'd leave any confirmation they are only meant for a few months use (obvious bullshit as I've had at least one in use for more than a year and another for about 10 months) or any other time period to DV - George specifically - or maybe someone here with a good bit more experience.

FWIW, I had an older one that I thought was dead. I have a friend who is apparently pretty hard of hearing when it comes to clicks. He was using one of my caps and I had to keep telling him it clicked - lay off the heat. Well, he got so stoned that by the 4th or 5th time this happened he's heating and heating and I'm saying let off the heat, while he keeps heating with a stupid look on his face. By the time he let off, the end was cherry red. He insisted it hadn't clicked and took a big hit. Dumbass! Smoke city and I took a little consolation at his coughing fit on the thick billowing smoke. Whatever, the load was out of his stash. :D

I let it cool down and the next day it would only click on heat - not cool down. Figured I would save it for his use and other hearing challenged friends. Just heat to click, hit it and wait a few minutes before heating again. Cleaned it up and gave it a couple test runs. About 4 or 5 heats in, it started clicking on cool down! All good, and now have another extra cap (I added one to my 420 order to replace it). It is in my regular main 3 VC rotation and seems fine after a few weeks use. It is the only one with a plain end in my standard carrying kit, so easy to keep track of. Still waitng for it to act up again (after about 3 weeks), but so far so good!

So, if you do abuse with overheating, and it starts acting up, clean it up and play with it. It may come back! Also, this is the ONLY problem I've had with cap performance after literally thousands of hits through the same few - with a couple overheats by me, and many more from others (tho usually not to red hot).

Falling apart? Really? I kind of doubt that unless there was even more abuse. There's someone - can't remember who - who used to post vids in this thread. He was using a larger torch (like I use for dabbing) on his blackened cap for way too long in vids I saw. I would actually cringe a bit every time I saw it. Didn't mention it to him or here (to each his own - it's his gear), but if that thing was still going in one piece I think they will hold up pretty well. Don't know if that one was (or is?) still clicking, but seem to recall never hearing a click in the vids.

Keep in mind the cap metal is very thin. If I'm remembering correctly, someone here tried lightly sanding the tip of their cap to remove a blemish and accidentally sanded completely through it, which opened it up exposing the click disks.

Not saying cracking/deformation is inevitable, but with material that thin and enough abuse, I can't say I'd be surprised to see it.

I think that was @natural farmer, that was an interesting post. <-- found it, click for link.

This whole topic got me even more curious now: wouldn't it be possible to just wrap aluminium foil (or really, any thin sheet of metal, or even thicker machined ti/SS "caps") around the end of the VapCap in a pinch? You wouldn't have the click, but I'm guessing the effect would be very close to how it is with the original cap, minus different heating times due to different metal thickness/density.

I love the simplicity of these vapes, because it means you can find all kinds of solutions to whatever problem you encounter. No need to mess with electronics or other parts that are impossible to replace or fix.

soak all parts in iso. make sure there is no resin at all which is not hard.

for an extra measure you can place it in tobacco pouch with some tobacco for the complete kit look.

I've traveled with my OG a few times. put it right on the side of my bag.

or you can always disassemble it and scatter the pieces between your personals.

just dont use alumn foil.. that shit can burn like paper with a torch lighter..

someone should design a portable vapcap heater that runs on an 18650. think of something the size of the dynastash or firewood 4 where you insert the vapcap and press a button to fire a heating coil that wraps around the cap. once the vapcap clicks, remove and puff. that would be sweet.

So got my m model vapcap today. I have the grasshopper, an air, a storm, a flowermate mini and just gave my pax 2 to my friend for his birthday. I can't believe how well the vapcap works. It's the closest thing i've had to smoking a doob than any other vape so far. And it really does give you a similar affect which i'm also well impressed with. I'm going to have another couple of bowls before bed i can't put it down. I'm definately going to get a ti woody and a dugout stash. For the money this thing really has blown me away. The lighter i'm using cost only a few quid and is single flame but it doesnt use much gas and i seem to have got the nack of it after reading all you guys tips. So far im holding my finger over the carb hole. I find im pulling slowly and getting 3 nice little pulls before it clicks. Then i'm doing between 3-4 re-heat sessions so 9-12 nice hits off of half what i put in the air lol. I do take my finger off the carb after a few secs sometimes to feather it a little. Awesome vape! Going to get in trouble with the mrs when she finds out i just got this one and now i want the woody. Hmmmm i need to form a plan. Happy vaping!

I generally am rough on stuff. A struggle I deal with daily. Not a klutz just rough I guess. Been putting the M and it's lil cap thru the RINGER since I got it. Hard core use all day and night. Pushing the abuse-test for science. Cap is going strong. Absolutely no weakening/degradation. Running it with the one remaining high temp o ring and seems to work better than with 3 or just as good. Lots of products don't make it a few hours over at the Dirty D testing lab... Just saying.. Peace, D.

I've been reading this thread for a while and there are a lot of people who are using their VCs multiple times a day for months on end - and I don't recall a single report of failing caps. and really? the whole thing is modular, so you can just buy a new cap.

Does anyone have a pro tip on how to make it tighter?

this has been discussed here: just squish the cap a little (so it's a bit less round) - that often does the trick.
