I agree completely and have had the same experience. Hand torn (not really stuffing a bowl size nug in there but just hand torn) does indeed work but like your self I have stock of my herbs dried and ground for vaping and just use that. I just suck the herb up into the chamber and its right at .05 completely full with a fine grind.I have read several times that a vape didn't require grinding. While that has been true more often than not, I usually find even a coarse grind increases performance quite a bit. I get bigger clouds and faster extraction. Flavor drops off faster the more you grind, there's always compromises.
The VapCap is probably my least sensitive vaporizer when it comes to grind size. Even no grind produces nice clouds, however, I find the clouds are bigger with ground material.
I pre-grind my cannabis so I have always have a supply ready to go. I'm almost always using ground material, but occasional as a flavor treat, or if I want to use a strain I haven't ground up yet, I'll pop off a chunk from a nug and stuff it in the Ti tip of my Omni. It works very well indeed.
Although not needed, and certainly we are all completely entitled to our preferences in vapor density, I too find that ground and well dried herb vapes very completely in three draws and that my load is extracted evenly through out.
I've been consuming cannabis for many decades and rather thought of myself as someone who can handle their weed. But a .05 oven in my OG is all I need before going to bed at night. When I have tried to go for a second bowl, I get it done but its almost too much. Very efficient device, in my experience.
