@shopdognyc - I have tried four different IHs from three different brands and they all have their special characteristics.

I don't use torches anymore, but will always keep the default method close to my heart and in the back of my head, just because that's how I started using my favourite device. :-)

The “M” is SS and perform’s fine.
Titanium I haven’t experienced?
In a CANNABIS field the “M” function’s better than a joint.
Maybe you need all types?

Flix and Flux Deluxe here. Slightly different performance, plug-in vs battery and different size coils, but in the same general neighborhood.
Sometimes I use a torch. Torch gives a different hit. I like variety.

I’ll never use a torch again, got away from butane when I ditched my titanium nail for a NV DCup rig.
BUT:
It’s still interesting to see how a HOT torch, can extract such milky clouds out of a DV. I’m sure I could get close with timing my IH cycles, but .....
Watch VG do is thing in the post link below. I’ve seen many of his dab vids, but this is the first I’ve seen where he toasts the DV.

I mostly use my Flix now, which is super convenient and makes for a nice relaxing session. Full extraction typically takes me 4-5 hits.

I still reach for the single flame torch when I want to get punched in the face. Full extraction in 1-2 hits.

I totally prefer the torch, but keep the IH around in the event I run out of butane.

I have a portside mini, I use it, my friends use it, we love it. Torch is a back up. Titanium, steel, doesnt matter they all heat up perfectly

I got an Apollo 2 and just got Pipe's Caldron. When I first joined here, all I wanted to do was order, but I couldn't message right away. Impatient got the Apollo 2, and got the Caldron not too long after. Trying to be discrete at home since my desk and girlfriend's are adjacent. Waiting for her to notice, but its great.

I still like grabbing the single flame Honest torch. I currently use the BB9 mostly with a Grav Spherical Bubbler. Its mesmerizing when I see the smoke clouds come out milky after the second go. Sometimes I'll stop and come back, and have to get to two flames to get it again.

I'll cycle through my other Dynavaps. In hindsight probably all unnecessary but trying to make a place or reason for them all now. Got a Omnivong which seems pointless with the BB9, and wish now I got the XL. The shorter body with mouthpiece looks so small in the hands.

I'm 50-50. I have a PSM and use it mostly with Ti tips, but prefer a triple flame for my SS tips. A single flame gives great control, but I'm too impatient. Hell - I don't even wait for cooldown clicks. Sip-N-Dip Fuck-Da-Click!

I'm definitely in the sip&dip camp on how to use the DV. Never seen a torch and likely never will. Long live solar chargers!

I have an official IH, the Alpine 2020. The switch clicker in the coil is too harsh - bits fall onto the clicker and they usually add a singe component to the flavor. Using it sideways helps. It is an aggressive heater but the setting is fairly tame. That combination makes it hard to simply "add a 1 or 2 count" to the firing sequence.

DIY IH's - I highly recommend this process if you have any hope of marrying solder to a circuit board somewhat properly. Cheap, teachable, frustrating, never ending nightmare of absolute joy! I've spent C'19 getting intimate with these things. Yet, the results can be the 'perfect' IH for me. I have the perfect IH for me now, FlatPack.
