Hi everyone! I have a question, after I tell you my little story with the vapcap:
I bought it like a couple of years ago. Loved the whole "artisanal/manual" feel to it, clean all steel design, etc.
However after some months my sleep was completely fucked up, because for some reason I had to keep drinking water throughout the night. Took me some time, but I then realized the hot vapour was drying up my throat/mouth badly (I usually vape as a sleep/relaxation aid, last thing at night). I bought a water bong, boom all good, that solved it. I also used to cough a little at the last hit, with the bong that all went away.
However now I keep seeing people rave about the glass charlie stems. And they look very sexy and interesting.
So here is my question: Do you think one of those would work for someone with sissy-sensitive throat (never smoked in my life btw)? Does it cool the vapour enough to ditch the bong?
Thanks for any insight on this.
Ok.
Do this once :
Put your lips about a quarter of an inch AWAY from the mouthpiece of WHATEVER stem you're using. Any carb CLOSED, first.
(You can add the use of carb/air port into all this later.
Cap is obviously already heated to click and ready.)
Now begin to draw air through your pursed/puckered lips still NOT touching the mouthpiece BUT moving your lips CLOSER to contact with the EDGE of the mouthpiece.
(The TIP of your tongue should be touching the roof of your mouth RIGHT behind the back of your upper teeth.
Doing THIS, will further help break up and SMOOTH that vapor on its way to your lungs.
Every Lil bit makes a difference and adds up!)
As your lips get closer to the mouthpiece, you should notice Vapor beginning to be produced and slowly moving through the stem.
(You can VISUALLY see this happening with a glass stem.
You'll have to FEEL and TASTE it in an opaque stem.)
At the MOST, your lips should only LOOSELY be in contact with the EDGE of the mouthpiece, at all!
Somewhere between NOT touching and BARELY touching, you should find the "Sweet Spot"
for YOUR particular "Lung pull"-style hit.
(This for ME, is easier on MY sensitive lungs than "Stacking Mouth pulls" but everyone is different. Try BOTH!)
When you do this just right, you'll notice the vapor hitting your lips and tongue, somewhat cooler than the air, you're ALSO drawing in from AROUND the mouthpiece. (Vapor vs Air Ratio)
If you find that sweet spot, you don't need ANY special stems to give you kinder hits to your lungs.
Keep your bong. Get the Glass Charlie Spikey Glass stem (I have the XXL one.) For variety, etc.
Imho, If you FIRST, address the issue of sensitive lungs by adjusting technique, vs using special stems, you'll have a much better experience, no matter WHAT stem someone hands you.
I hope that helps you or some else with sensitive lungs, in some small way!
Happy Vaping!
