Oh, I don't know. That doesn't look like that hot an idea to me. But hey, whatever works.

@Apogee Is that how oval the cap had to be? or is that just to show the mod?

Thanks for showing how you made them fit but I think most of us were more interested in how deformed the caps had to be when just squeezing it.

Also, I'm not sure if it was covered but did you swap the ill fitting caps to different tips and test the fit?

Btw, this is what happens when you don't use a condenser for those that are curious. The whole inside of the stem gets coated in reclaim and it starts to pick up a funk of stale vapor pretty quickly.

Greetings all!

I thought it was time for me to address a few of the items of concern here.

First off, thank you everyone! I really mean this, as where else would we have access to this wonderfully diverse focus group? The feedback I see here and have done my best to utilize has from the very beginning, all the way back to page number one been extremely useful to guide me. The thoughts and comments as well as the in use experiences have enabled DynaVap to grow and has certainly expedited the evolution of devices and our product line quickly.
Along the way we have made mistakes amongst the successes. I would also hope we have instilled confidence in everyone here we do care very much for all of our customers. So in summary, if you are for any reason not happy with your purchase, just let us know.
Email is best. info@dynavap.com is a great way to send us info regarding anything you would like to discuss, and pictures are most welcome.

We have certainly had our hands full with our sale and the rather large number of emails and other customer service matters. So now we have it behind us, many of us are taking a few deep breaths as we get back into our groove and get focused on more problem solving and improving our manufacturing infrastructure. :)

We are looking into the issues that have been so succinctly described here and are taking measures to both look closer into the QC and also find solutions to some of our finishing methodology.

Also, If it is of interest, I would like to offer an invitation to come visit us if you are ever in the area. Please just let us know at least a few days in advance. We welcome visitors, and I know many of you have some valuable insight from your background, or years in a wide variety of occupations in industry and manufacturing. We definitely appreciate how helpful this community has been with suggestions and ideas for things other than our products.

For some other updates, how about an odd contrast.

Then our office aloe plant decided to bloom

And when the big day finally arrived, we had a 420 grill out at the shop.

Notice there is no snow left. We were all in T shirts and I was even wearing shorts. It was a gorgeous day!

I took some time to discuss the use of the cap in the last live broadcast if anyone didn't catch it. I think I covered the majority of common questions, but if I missed something please let me know.

Some more exciting news. DynaTour 2018 continues. I'll be traveling back to Europe at the end of May. First is Dublin on May 30 and spending a few days in the area until moving on to London for the weekend. Amsterdam comes next and I'll finish up at Mary Jane in Berlin June 8-10.
I hope meet up with more member on the trip, so if anyone is interested in a meet up please let me know.

Last, please check out our youtube live broadcast this upcoming week. I have some exciting metalurgical news.

Cheers,

George

Fucking Combustion (mostly) Since February 2017
After a year I tried holding my inline three flame lighter perpendicular to my cap instead of parallel. Much nicer. Easier to dial in the temperature. And faster to click, actually.

And that Chem Dawg has me flyin’.

I like my inline three-flame best for heating my cap...but I've only ever used it perpendicular. I always figured the cap would click too-quick if part of the flame was so close to the thermostat at the end. It's in the same way that as how your house's/apartment's thermostat wouldn't work as well if you put the heater that is supposed to heat the whole room right next to the thermostat from the beginning.

In the same way, neither does your cap.

Keeping the heat source far enough away from the "thermostat" to heat the "whole room" before it gets to the thermostat, which in turn trips the heater cutoff mechanism, sounds like a reasonable analogy.

For my first dinner of a quick camping vacation I first prepared with my nice 18M / free Ti tip, then went outside and combusted my nice thick steak. I am usually a master at this, but this time I used the same cooking time I w0uld have back home at a much higher elevation/colder temperature. The wind was blowing sideways across the grill and intensified the convection part of it in addition to the part where the higher air temperature allowed the BBQ to get to a higher conduction temperature:)

edit: changed girl to grill, LOL

On another note, does anyone have one of these caps with the wider radius on the digger and shorter wider lettering? I've been using this cap as a photo cap for a long time and just noticed now that it's different than what I'm used to seeing.

All you cap experts can you ID the era of my Cap?
iREUTxT.jpg

I think I can .
I have two of these caps.
They are over a year old .
One of them is on my daily driver .

The scoop ( "digger outer " ) of these caps is longer and somewhat more narrow,
than the scoop of the new ones.

It extends almost to the end of the tip.
Also the "clickers" (bimetallic discs ) must be different versus the clickers of modern caps.
I've noticed two main differences with the new cap's clickers,so far.

The first one is visual.
When I clean with baking soda the old cap ,the clicker at the bottom is blue tinted.
At modern caps has a rather golden hue.

The other difference regards their operation.
Maybe Dynavap changed the brand / supplier of the clickers at some point along the way.
But the new clickers are more "stubborn" to click both while heated and while cooling.
The old ones were much more responsive.
They may be of same temperature specs ( "Break " and "Remake " temperatures ** ) ,
but their time response seems to be way different.

An analogy with electrical fuses :
Old clickers where like the "Fast" ( F symbol on fuses ) acting kind .
The new ones are more like " Timed " ( T symbol on fuses ) kind .
While the rated "amperage " remains the same .

If you ask me : I prefer the old caps.
I tend to scorch the load quite easy if/when I use any of the new caps.
With the old caps there's not such an issue ,at all.
Also ,the ABV is darker ,while using the new caps under same heat cycling vs the old caps.

And I have just two of those old caps only ! :|
While I 've a bunch of the new ones ,which I almost feel reluctant to use ,
knowing how much better ( or at least they suit better my style of Vapcapin' ) the old ones perform .

As a side -and personal point of view -note ,I have to confess that I surely miss some previous
-and by now obsolete -VapCap parts ,like the brick red silicone o-rings ,the original 4th gen / 7 fin Ti tip (great for using outdoors, without being so F@(kin' slow like the M (SS) tip )
and of course those old, long-scooped ,super responsive caps .
Being the only few things, that Dynavap should 've kept them available ,
at least as alternative options to VITON o-rings ,5th gen Ti tips and short/wide scooped modern caps, respectively.

BTW : Great Work! Excellent workmanship !

Cheers.

The bimetallic shallow shell performs a snap action at defined
temperatures and produces enough force to open or close electrical contacts. The temperature
at which a bimetallic shallow shell “snaps through” on heating is called the “break temperature”
and the temperature at which it “snaps back” on cooling is called “remake temperature”

I misplaced my fat mouthpiece and im kinda glad I did. GonG is the best and only $6 (mix option). Im surprised how good this setup is, this thing is a beast of a setup

Hope this is civilized @ataxian

How is the fit with the 10mm to 14mm adapter with the M ?
Is it tight?
Does the M sit stable and is it easily removable for clearing the vapor out of the glass-tool ?

That is very interesting, I wasn’t expecting such a long answer. I did some research on my photo history and it looks like the cap must have come with my order in early 2017. I was using a sharp corner cap before 03/2017 and this round corner cap appears after that time.

On another note the older cap with sharp corners also had the lettering extend into the crimp area of the cap. Newer caps have the lettering start at the crimp.

It almost looks like it was part of a test run of the laser since the lettering is different. I remember them having problems with the laser etcher at some point so this could be a transitional cap.

I kinda wish I had held on to my older cap with the lettering that runs into the crimping.

I personally haven’t experienced the reaponsiveness difference that you’re speaking of but then again I haven’t used the one cap. Makes me tempted to use it but then I wouldn’t have a clean shiny cap for photos.

Your problem is your lighting method. Get a torch lighter. Problem will be solved

Yep I figured out how to use this contraption.

You guys weren't lying! :ko:

By the way, this was the most useful advice to me:

@Tronzo669 Welcome!

About torches: I prefer single and dual torches because it's easier with those to heat the cap with precision (heating the cap at the end results in lower temp hits, and heating closer to the tip results in higher temp hits):

TQ2BERz.png

I use the triple torch for outdoor use because that "butane monster" reduces the heating time quite a bit.

Just another traveller in the Cannaverse
It's from all the "vapcap happiness" endorphins rush...

I think for many of us ex-smokers dig the ritual un-regulated, on-demand devices give us. I have ADHD and it gives me something to fidget with-I do the same with my Lil' Bud and Milaana.

I've never liked session vapes where you hit a button, wait for heat up, and then suck on a plastic straw for 3-10 minutes when the device auto-shuts off. It makes me feel like a drone.

When I've got a fine piece of metallurgy or woodwork in my hands I feel vastly different. Especially when these devices are made by people I know, like, and admire.

I have OCD too, so the vapcaps, Lil' Bud, and Mi allow me all sorts of fun ways to play with that mental illness through personal customization on the craft after-market.

And then of course there's this forum that allows geeks like me to find a very supportive community.

Happy Saturday FCers gonna go see the Marvel movie with my youngest who is of legal age to consume adult libations, and then get a new set of nails so I can start rehearsing for the new album.

Enjoy
