@ataxian you might be interested to know that I'm gifting my Cocobolo Omni to a dear friend who just released a great new album. Because I'm getting the new 'M'.
But that will leave me with my Omni XL which will probably be pulled from cold dead hands. I have plans of putting every DV stem I can on that Omni XL. It's not the bling-it's the ability to easily control load size and draw that attracts me to the Omni condenser and Ti Tip. You're paying for finer metals, much more advanced machining, and getting performance enhancements from both. For me. And while I'm going to try out the new M as is, I expect I may well swap out the SS tip with a Ti Tip because I can set it in the smallest screen setting; my norm. I almost never use a full chamber setting.
And the swappable stems are like clothes. I may wear black most of the time, but I don't wear the same shirt every day. It's fun to change things up every once in a while.
Oh, and I can't remember who, but someone mentioned that they were having problems with tips and mouthpieces becoming loose in wood bodies or stems. Here's the thing-if you're in a place where it's winter the humidity in your home has probably been under 45%. Wood, especially solid woods, shrink below 45% humidity and swell at above 60% humidity.
1) Oil the crap out of it with the stuff DV has, or any other good wood oil or 'butter'.
2)Try taking the bodies/stems into the shower with you. Not into the water, but on the bathroom counter or someplace, and close the door while you shower-really let the humidity get going. Then, wipe them dry, and move to step 3.
3) Get a sponge wet, wring it out so that it's damp, but not dripping, and put that in a separate plastic zip lock; punch holes in it. Then in a larger zip lock place the body/stem into the larger zip lock and drop the small one with the sponge in with it. Zip it up and leave in there for a few days. Check every day or so to make sure the sponge is damp.
Then give try the tips again. I'll bet you they'll be snug. If not:
4) per @Winegums wrap on or two pieces of hemp fiber under the o-rings, replace the o-rings over the hemp fiber.
That should get you where you need to be whoever you may be.
