I don't like the look of the 7 fin tip in the video. I have messaged Arielle at DV to ask about gen 4 style tips and will update you guys when I get a reply.

If classic Gen 4 style also became available, I'd probably request at least 2 of those in addition to 2 of the new ones, though I get the impression that the machining/programming for custom requests is costly and therefore wouldn't bet on it. (I would still really like some groove-less Gen 4-5 tips!)

I think he knew... ;)

So, I have used PBW on my glass for a few years, but I have never used it for my metal parts and have always used ISO. Is PBW really as effective as ISO in separating resin from parts?
You wouldn't be able to evaporate it off and reclaim the resin I'm sure, but that is always so nasty I rarely do it anymore anyway. Works OK but tastes like shit.

@stark1 I agree. But I don't have a dog in this hunt. I never had the first version and didn't opt in on the new version.

What I have learned in my 75 days in the Dynaverse is that George doesn't do something design-wise that doesn't improve design performance for the end user. The man and the company are built to pursue the very best they can-so they're using all of their previous experience and gained knowledge as they create the best 7 fin Tip they can NOW.

I know a lot of folks 'just' wanted replicas of the first version. I think that since this device is still firmly in the 'craft' market that they will continue to improve on older ideas. I have many friends who are custom guitar builders; and they wouldn't do exact knock-offs of designs they KNOW they can improve on. It's the nature of the beast both psychologically and where they are as a company in the market.

The reason they could do something like this in the first place is because they're so nimble on their feet and listen to their customer base.

@cybrguy It works great on metal parts. I clean my vapcaps every 10 days or so and I have encountered no issues. I do run a nugget through the condensers while they're warm to get that reclaim, and then put disassembled parts in tube with hot water and a skosh of PBW-shake-soak-shake-pipe cleaner-rinse-dry-reassemble.

How long is it safe to have the tip in iso?
I normally have it around 30 minutes. but would 24 hours for example damage the rubber rings?

I see you've already had some suggestion for iso alternatives, but to add my experience...

I only have two tips that see almost daily use, and in 9 months, with aprox weekly cleaning, I've never taken the rubber rings off either the tip or (lazily) the condenser!
I leave them to soak for an average of 20min but sometimes forgetfully over night!
Still using all the original rings none have failed so far!

So for me any worry about the rings is gone. I have spares, but who can guess when I'll actually need them?

Wow, so that's like at least 15 hours of soak time in ISO and you have had no stretching of breakage of orings? That is pretty remarkable, and while still anecdotal, a clear data point against ISO killing orings... Huh.

I wonder how they would fare if you tried to remove them? Probably not worth finding out...

Oh this is my travel lighter, cool to see others liking it, with this lighter the customs never look twice at it, any other torch is a 50/50 if i can keep it or not for flights. (Europe)

The Aomi lighter feels not cheap AT ALL, feels like a high quality lighter and have lasted me now almost a year with no problems what so ever, feels more quality then most of the Xikars lighters i have.

Cant recommend it enough for those who like single flames.

It truly is a fabulous torch in several ways. I would like Dynavap to offer a Dynastash with an expanded/repurposed herb compartment to fit the Aomai flint lighter. I've seen some DIY sanding to allow this, but personally wouldn't risk destroying my Stash.

We should wait and see how the revision tip performs before we judge and jury

The reason I am looking for something that is exactly the same is because I am used to the thermal characteristics of that specific Ti design. I'm not interested in performance differences, I'd rather it look and perform the same as my other 4th Gen tips. That way I know what to expect and I can treat them all the same way when I heat them. I don't want to have to remember to treat it differently than another tip.

I'm the guy that goes to a restaurant and orders the same dish nearly everytime, because it's consistently good and I know what to expect. I run my Vapcaps right up to the edge of combustion on the second heat cycle and do it consistently. It's my "regular dish", I just want to have another Vapcap setup that delivers the same experience. I have four stems I want to outfit but only three 4th Gen tips

While I would never want to stop George from innovating and improving, I really want exactly the same thing in this particular situation. Even if it's not ideal and is even down on performance from the newer 5 fin. :mental:

I'm getting lost looking for the new 7 fin images, were they in the latest episode?..

Pretty sure that what you want is coming! I've no specific info to share... But i think it's coming!

As some one else posted. The Aomai flint lighter is perfect for airplane travel. It looks like a soft flame lighter, and when empty of gas it's hard to prove it's an 'illegal' jet/torch lighter.
