Dr Dabber Switch 2

The eagle has landed!

I've been putting it through some extensive testing/tasting over the past few days and I can already confidently say that The Switch 2 is a complete industry game changer! The sapphire insert brings me right back to my torched ruby and sapphire days years ago. You nailed this one Dr. D, the competition should be sweating and I love it. Oh and the Drop hot knife also kicks ass! Way better than Puffco.

More to come but all I can say is I can't believe i'm dabbing hash off of a sapphire keurig in 2024!:rockon::bowdown:

Thanks for pic side by side with the Puffco, really helped to understand the size of this device. Slightly bigger than I'd like but way better size than the previous version.

The sapphire bowl is absolutely a draw. So tired of companies putting out basic ceramic bowls in their devices.

Ceramic is fine (sic and aln are also ceramics) and has very similar chemical composition to gemstone like sapphire (just arranged in a different structure). They also have a very thin quartz coating. What isn't fine is their vape path and materials that your terpene rich dab has to travel through lol.

I just hooked up my sapphire keurig to my macbook!! :D

What a time to be alive!

I really can't even believe it! I just changed the temp MID DAB on the macbook! lol Seems like some of the functionality of the phone app is missing but definitely does the basics just fine.

I may have just had the best dab ever! Such a drool inducing sapphire slapper where the terps are sticking to my smacker for several minutes after!!:nod:

In another thread somewhere (i forget who) but they mentioned that Dr Dabber Switch 2 does not have an atomizer. I am too new to understand the distinctions.

How does this thing work? (basic concept)

No atomizers/chambers, same as the first Switch. It uses induction tech to heat the Ti heatsink that the quartz, titanium (released next week), or sapphire insert sits in (other ceramic inserts like aln and sic possibly down the line, and HOPEFULLY a polished sapphire or ruby (fingers crossed)). The heat is very even and accurate to the degree.

I was planning on doing a bit of a write up on my experience so far, and probably still will, but for now i'm very open to ASK ME ANYTHING.

I LOVE MY SWITCH 2.

Edit: For anyone interested, there will be a Dr. Dabber IG Live at 4pm PST today. Tyson fight at 5pm lol.

Simple is the way
I have one on the way now, thanks @biohacker!

I’ve been spoiled by the convenience of e-rigs and ended up completely abandoning my gemstones. Recently, after an XL atomizer went dead around the 4k mark, I cracked it open and wasn’t thrilled with the amount of caked-on carbon inside. The idea of getting back to a pure airpath with gemstones in an e-rig format is super exciting. Can’t wait to see how the S2 stacks up!

That's why I specifically said basic ceramic bowls. Their performance versus sic and aln is hugely different. They might be fine for you, but I don't feel the same.

This is definitely the device for you!

Loving my joystick cap performance with the adjustable airflow inserts from Kyle Wym Designs! 0.090" diameter milks like crazy.

Not the end of the world, but seems like my Drop hot knife is already on the fritz and only working intermittently. Sucks because I love the thing way more than my Puffco, but i've never had a problem with either of those in the over year i've owned them. I can hear it working/buzzing, but it's like the voltage is 90% of what it should be and dab won't slide off at all. Otherwise when it works, it works great! Just no consistency to be able to use it so back to Puffco knife for now.

The Switch 2 just keeps on raging!

I am curious as to how the pass-through feature operates, especially how it effects battery usage. Have one of you fella's checked the battery function in the app while doing a dab?

I'm wondering if the battery is used/accessed during the pass-through, or is the charger input sufficient to power all functions while working?

Just to follow up on this, it appears as if the Drop is working just fine. It must of just been the material because I was having the same issue with it sticking to my puffco hot knife as well. Dr. Dabber did reach out and happily offered to replace it but i'm pleased to say that it won't be necessary!

Man their website says 30% off sitewide for Black Friday with an asterisk and there's no where to see where the asterisk terms are. Anyways it's more like selected items not sitewide (switch 2 not included). Hope someone from the company reads this and maybe doesn't mislead people next time.

Dr. Dabber's sales are a joke. They like to announce these big sales and then when you go to check them out, the items you want are either not on sale or not in stock.

Could be worse, I see some head sites are jacking up the list price so they can advertise an amazing sale price just for you, today!

My Switch 2 is out for delivery today, Im excited to test it out. Whats everyone liking for settings for rosin?

I hope it was a very cloudy weekend for you! Excited to hear your thoughts, did you also get the sapphire insert for better flavour?

For quartz and solventless I like mid 400's, maybe a bit more up to around 475, ascent profile for flavour..... and for the sapphire insert 435 all the way up to upper 400's as well depending on how I feel. I actually find that the flavour gets a bit more intense and "fuller" with a bit more temp on this one as I don't get the vape density in the lower 400's that I desire. It's VERY different from the 3DXL chamber/coil and software. Even the vape particle/quality is different and I think even has its own "vape signature".

IMO a polished sapphire or a ruby insert would be really nice. Not a fan of keeping the non polished sapphire clean, and it will require a torch clean (in a banger) to get it 100% like new clean. 99% iso/dark crystal clean soaks even if hot, don't do the trick.

I have been enjoying it a lot, not sure it can dethrone the peak pro with 3dxl for me as top dog but its more than just a worthy contender, and greater options for customization in the future (like a better water piece) may enhance it even further. I ordered the sapphire insert on the same day I ordered the Switch 2, but since I got the Switch 2 from a 3rd party retailer and the unsert from Dr Dabber, the actual Switch came much faster than did the cup, which hasnt even shipped yet lol.

Ive definitely been enjoying starting at 390 or 400 in ascent mode for hash rosin, gets great flavor at first and then ramps up into better clouds at the end. I found that higher than that the flavor starts to get noticeably kind of burtn tasting at the end of the session, the same way it does in the quartz with the Switch 1. When i get the sapphire insert in I will oush the temps up a bit for sure.

Thanks also for the tip about the carb cap, i have been testing all my custom peak joysticks with the cut-off top of a 3d chamber and having some nice success. The only thing is that sometime the action causes the 3d cap to kind of lift up while spinning and let too much air into the chamber. Hopefully people will start creating alternatives to the stock joystick that can still fit in the magnetic lid that comes with it.

Biohacker, in regards to polished/unpolished inserts, science says that polished surfaces fall prey to the worst of Leidenfrost Effects, with larger vapor particles and more spatter. A rough surface enhances laminar flow and surface wetting, which leads to a finer, denser vapor cloud. Smaller vapor particles carry a smaller heat load and are less harsh. It's not just chance that leads folks up the quartz/saphire/slc/aln ladder!

Raz, your 3dxl has that rough surface structure, I bet when you try the sapphire insert you're going to find the Switch much more to your liking...

Thanks for this! You need to post more often! You remind me of my brilliant mind homie @invertedisdead !

Also forget to answer your previous question about the battery pass-through. It's not a real pass though as the charge will drop as you're using it.

Even with the quartz coating? Actually now that I look closer at it I can maybe see how that's possible. And I can sure see a lot of scratches in the quartz coating! lol
