Hey new user here with a new walkie talkie vape as I call it. It was working fine earlier today , came back to it not turning on . Tried leaving it off for an hour and plugged in with the switch on but still its not even turning on. Anyone have any what I could do to get it working again ? I am sure this has come up in this thread, didn't feel like searching through all the pages. From the UK by the way so using the warranty through Davinci might be difficult. Thanks for your help.

I am mega excited. I'm a new member, but have been lurking forever. After reading the first 25 pages of this thread, I was confident that the Davinci was the vape I wanted for portability and discreet efficient vaping. I started saving up, but medical and financial issues kept dipping into my DaVinci fund. My birthday was last week and a friend from out of town bought me a DaVinci for my birthday! Super great friend. It's the awesome black model. It works way better than the DragonLite I had gotten a while back. The vapor is both more flavorful and potent.

When it came home, I plugged it in for a few hours (the battery gauge didn't stop the blinking, but after 5 hours I figured it was good with it having been factory charged and all) and in the mean time read the users manual. I then ran it through a few "dry" cycles to burn off manufacturing residues. Then came the fun.

I had pre-ground some dried aromatic herbs and had let them dry a little extra before spooning in a small amount. I wish the brush bristles were less stiff, because I sprayed grinds all about. So that had a little learning curve. I first tried the "pinch-in" method and it just seemed to stick to my fingers, so small scooping implement or folded paper work much better.

Right away I enjoyed tasty and relaxing vapor. I am pleased with such good quality vapor from a portable device. My medicine goes further and flavor lasts longer than the DL. I had been going back and forth between combustion in glass and the DL in my daily use, but since having the DaVinci, I have been combustion free for seven days. I honestly and deeply love the DaVinci.

Well, if I am being honest, I don't love it as much as I could. As much as I want to. I am dealing with some issues though and would like to get some feedback on them before I decide if it is going to be a real problem I should take up with the company.


My mouthpiece lets extra air in and I'm not sure that's what is supposed to happen. I took off the hose and blocked the end with my finger and was still able to draw air, which makes me think it may be problematic.

Also, my battery consumption monitor has been a little erratic. The Battery Icon has started a session at 4 bars, depleted to one bar and show 3 bars when it is next powered on, those 3 bars stay for almost half the session, then it is down to two, immediately one and the light turned red and blinked rather than heat the unit. I am hoping this is a minor issue that won't affect my experiences overall.

I do not get 3 full sessions on a charge without it dropping to one bar, in fact, usually it hits one bar on the second session and I plug it in again. This started after the second full charge.
Anyone else experience this?

the dark brown is duff that has had its day and has retired(up in vapor). that is what you want to see left over after vaping, it means that the majority of actives have been absorbed . the lighter the color of the remains the more actives that are left in the plant matter yet to be extracted. it is hard to say exactly how hot it gets in the can with it sitting in the heat chamber of the da vinci, the cans' metal construction probably adds more heat ( conduction) to the mix so its hard to say how hot it is in the can when the da vinci is set to full blast. I drilled a larger hole in the bottom of a can and added a screen and vaped some ground up herb in it and it was ok but need to try a few more times to see if I like it or not.

I've started a session while the battery showed 1 bar and after it heated and had been running steady it jumped to 4 bars. I guessed that it was the dual battery where one was taking up the juice when the other was getting low, could be wrong on that though. I've read that the battery needs to be drained some and charged a few times to help it get into a normal operating mode. not sure about the straw leaking, I wonder if a little bees wax melted around the sleeve at the intersect area would seal it?

I'll see if I can find the exact point of the leak and consider it. I generally don't try self repairs if I am still under warranty. Last night I tested it and definitely only getting 2-2 1/2 sessions off a full battery. This makes it a baby bit less practical for travel. It is my new best friend though and I don't want to lose it, maybe I will contact them. It has been by far the most comfortable way to take in medicine. Da vinci is something truly special.

My cat thinks it is pretty cool, I think it's the blue led he loves so much, I power it on and he just sits down to watch, lol.

Sounds like you have similar symptoms as one of my previous units. You will need to contact DV directly to start the warranty process but as others here have testified the company takes good care of its customers so they will help you out. Sorry to hear about another Da Vinci dieing, but welcome to the FC forum. From another UK vaper.

Are you not getting the blue light, or the red? The blue is the 'turn on' light, the red indicates that the unit is heating up. I know someone who has a unit where the heater button (red light) doesn't always work. You often have to press the button multiple times to get a red light. Since it always activates within about 10 presses (sometimes 1 or 2), he puts up with it.

If you bought your unit locally, the seller should stand behind it. The UK laws for resellers are much stricter than in the US, where a reseller can tell you to deal strictly with the manufacturer in the event of a warranty situation. If you bought from the US, you'll probably have to ship it to DV for replacement.

C No Ego, good to hear that my very dark brown AVB indicates that the good stuff has been mostly extracted. I guess I'll experiment with lower temperature settings, though, to avoid getting the black particulates and residue, because I can't imagine that is a good thing.

when I used my iolite which comes factory set at 376 degrees the avb was a moderate light brown and there were obviously molecular actives left that were to stubborn to let go of the plant fiber because of the lack of heat emitted from the iolite herb chamber to pull them out. the great thing about the da vinci is you can start the session at a lower heat setting and gradually increase heat setting while you finish off the session, getting more and more actives until the session is over. I can really tell from the effects that the da vinci is pulling lots more out of the fibers and of course the color of the avb is darker because of that. I would not recommend running this thing full blast the whole session but to experiment and have it hottest just at the end of the session.

I guess I will have to swab it out with alcohol and send it in for replacement, yesterday the battery died after part of a first session (you know, flashing light, refused to heat back up). I had the switch on when charging and indicated charging every time I checked for five hours. I switched the switch to off position, no LED/LCD activity while I carried it, so should have been no discharge. For returns they say they want all original pieces, but I have replaced the screens to make sure they are getting a residue free unit. Does anyone Know if not having all the screens will be problematic for me?

I don't think DV needs the original screens or the flexi straw you may want to check with them. I've returned two without a top screen or flexi straw and I don't know of a way you could clean the mouthpiece well enough to send it back .

I was vaping some hash, now theres stuff sticking to the bottom of the chamber, when I tried to scrape it out I deattached the screen. :/

the bottom chamber screen comes out.while you have the screen out turn the da vinci upside down and tap the sides of the da vinci to dis lodge anything sticking down under the screen and use the provided little brush and swirl it around there as well while still turned upside down. use a flat blunt object to re insert screen down into chamber until it sits firmly against the bottom- vape

Some people have had success using a safety pin with a bent tip. The idea is to jam the tip down through the screen into one of the small holes in the bottom of the chamber. This will let you get the hook underneath the screen in order to lift it up.

The bottom screen doesn't get too bad unless you're tightly packing the chamber, but I end up having to clean mine around once a week.

About removing the screen from the bottom of the chamber, then putting it back, I think I read the following tips in this thread, either from other forum members or from the DaVinci rep.

To remove the screen, you can use a dental pick, like what dentists use. I think you can buy it at most drug stores (usually comes packaged with the little round mirror thingy).

The tip of the flexi straw fits perfectly inside the chamber, so you can use it to push the screen back down into the chamber.

yesterday I had started a session and forgot that the da vinci was set full blast and got a few good pulls before I figured it out and turned it down. the rest of the session was really harsh and unpleasant. lesson learned not to start at full blast, maybe if I had just left it at full blast to finish the session it would have been better but turning it back down afterwards did not work.

something I think will help with this vape is after adjusting the temp be patient and let it self adjust before clicking any more buttons to re adjust, it takes a few seconds for it to reach the adjusted temp after clicking the temp buttons. I've messed up adjustments a few times and tried to re adjust to soon and it wouldn't until it re set itself to the new temp.

So, an hour ago was my first reall session with my davinci...and I really like it !!
I didn't got around to use it (owned it for a couple of months now) since I got a rather
bad plastic smell in the beginning and it arrived in a period where I had just recieved
some other portable vaporizers too so I kinda forgot about it.
While following up the ascent thread I noticed how highly everybody spoke about the davinci wich got
me thinking about it....so here I am, feeling great and having a new addition to my frequently used vapes !!!

What I like about my davinci is that for me, the taste seems to last longer compared to others.
The vapor is also rather gentle to my throat and it makes me cough very little.
I ordered mine in europe and I got one of the earlier versions, where it's harder to load and clean the
chamber because of the lid but I think I can get around with the brush and a bent cotton swab dipped in iso.

Only concern is the battery, the indicator is a bit unreliable and no matter how long I charge it, it never seems to get completely full.
Off to the lab to test the battery

I made a whip out of about 24" worth of aquarium tubing. Lazy style. It's hard work raising the unit to my face every time. I'm back to using the oil cans too. Running a toothpick through the can after it's packed opens it up and solves my airflow problem.

I sometimes run some Silicone tube with a bigger bore for this. Big enough to fit over the stock stem. I've even played some with keeping the DV in my pocket....it's in the name you know.....

I can't be sure but puffitup usually has the newest version's , you could shoot them an email to make sure. But if you get a green DV you know it's a 2013 model . you can't beat that price .
