Welcome to the forum @rwx-800 Please note: This thread is for thoughts limited to the BFG Fusion. However, you can start a Fusion vs Camouflet thread in ASK FC section of the forum to get feed back you desire. Hope that helps.

So I’ve been watching this video, as always Lee from tabletopbong makes me think about heating my device in a whole other way. He torches the bowl and cap directly to heat it, and then uses the wand as the finishing heat application to maximise the hybrid nature of the Fusion. Very clever and the clouds speak for themselves.

I think today I’m going to try and combine his idea of directly pre heating the bowl with some aspects of my slow roast technique.

I’m hoping to get either better performance or the same performance with a faster heatup. I’ve got a triple flame with me too, and I’m wondering if preheating the bowl with that and then heating will give similar results to my small single flame without the near minute heatup.

Will check back in later today with the results of my experiments :science:

I would recommend you to take that triple flame and aim 2 flames to the lower silver ring, and one flame to the upper silver ring. Then pass the click 5-6 seconds (the seconds vary). No bowl heating or wand. You start with convecction and the silver rings do their thing. Hit after hit you will notice more conduction.

I’ve done this before but it’s not enough conduction and hybrid effects for me. Very tasty though!

uhm, maybe i use to pass more secs the click since i use to vape hash
Yeah maybe

In my experience with flower that tends to over charge the convection heat into charring or combusting temps long before there’s the level of heat in the bowl required for the hybrid effects I seek. I think that’s why the slow roast with small flame works well, it heats both bowl and cap at an optimal rate.

I’m hoping this bowl pre heating might just be the answer though!

I load the bowl using the straw method, i use a triple flame torch and heat 3 seconds past the click and I get hybrid hits from the get go. The 1st 2 hits lean more towards convection but after than it's pure hybrid. 1 and done no need for a re heat and as long as I use the straw method to load I do not scorch anything.

I just ordered a Fusion 2.0 and I’m really looking forward to the delivery. However, I still have two questions: Do any of you happen to know, or have a guess, what kind of wax was used on the leather case? I’m not sure if, in case of synthetic paraffins, its really a good idea to have direct contact with the vape and inhaling it, or do you think it’s beeswax? And another question, I read on a forum that you can visually see if the disks have clicked. Is that true, or did the poster confuse this with the Tempest?

No idea. Just feels like a soft leather case to me. Very much doubt there is going to be any deposits on the vape from the case. Also when you heat the cap with a 1400degree flame there is not going to be anything left on it that you are going to be inhaling.

There is no visual indicator that the cap has clicked. It isn't the loudest click but it is still obvious.

So after messing around with pre heating the bowl I’m currently of the opinion that it -

Adds nothing to the slow roast method and kind of messes up the post click timings.

Does help to add some extra conduction to heatups with my triple flame.

The slow roast still has noticeably heavier effects and more dense vapour off the bat, regardless of pre heating or not. The triple flame with bowl pre heating isn’t close to the slow roast, and I’d argue takes away from the enjoyable flavour and convection forward experience that you otherwise get - an awkward inbetween, basically.

So yeah, can’t say I’ve been too impressed experimenting so far! I’m sure doing it as Lee prescribed with the wand will give better results though.

You can sometimes apply beeswax to the leather case, but it's already oiled leather.

You can see them in the hole on top of the cap. It doesn’t move very much and happens so quickly it’s difficult visually to tell.

Yea, they’d need to be in the vape too for my worries. Guess if you didn’t wash hands after handling.. yada yada.

Now I'm really curious about the material used for the waxing. I asked the BFG email support, lets see if they respond.
