Dabpress Rosin Plates

I prefer rosin pressed from flowers. Hash yields amazing though.

I like them both but find they produce different types of extract. Flowers tend to give me a clear shatter, hash tends to be darker and more gooey even if it's unpressed, fresh frozen.

As long as I've got something to press out I'm happy, it's taken Quartz to a whole new level :brow:

Getting a DabPress dp-hr10t35v and gauge :)

(Already have a pump)

Super excited! Think this will be a nice upgrade from my DIY setup ... caged as well as driptech I feel will be very nice upgrades! And the unit is just so nice and slick! So compact and such a nice form factor :)

Any tips for pressing dry ice hash? I have 3 different grades.

I have 10t drip tech 3x5 and all sorts of 2x4 bags.

I will double bag, and I've heard 140-180. How long and what pressure at the bag?

Not sure how to load bags and should I bottle tech?

Thanks

I only do bottle tech for flower, for dry ice hash I'd load 14-28g and form it into a soap bar. Leave enough bag to fold over the puck and trim the excess.

Temp depends on the quality. I usually press at 180-220.
How long depends on how much you're pressing, the temp, and other factors. Just go nice and slow and ease into it; hash does not need too much pressure since most of the hard work has already been done, you're basically just using rosin to filter out the plant material. I don't have a gauge on my press so I can't comment on PSI. I just go by feel.

Thanks. I have 3 qualities: really nice, a bit green, and mostly really green. Last one definitely food grade

Good luck! Your efforts will soon pay off :sherlock:

I have the 6ton 3x5 DB,
how much Keif should I press each run, and what micron bag should I get?

I'd recommend our 37u filters for kief. How much you run depends on your filter size, you should be able to put 1-2g per sq/in of pressed puck. I'd recommend to keep the puck size around 2x3 or 2x4.

So I order some bags and the 2x4 Rectangle Puck maker.
Put in the order on Monday at the door by Thursday afternoon. From factory warehouse
Live in Canada. Nice and fast.

Awesome! We try and get rosineers their items as quickly as possible.

Congratulations! I look forward to hearing your thoughts, being one of FC's most handy and pioneering rosineer! We do include a male quick coupler separate from the press in case your fitting may not be exact. I did have one Canadian rosineer who procured a pump and the cylinder wouldn't retract. After we replaced the coupler on the end of the hose with our dabpress part it worked

.5 g of some alleged GSC that vapes quite poorly. Pressed (2) 3g pucks, no filter, 190f, 1000 psi for 2 and a half minutes.
No blowout and the best pale color sap that I have gotten yet. It appears much darker, it was a light blonde on the parchment. Thanks @Dabpress!

For use with my dp-bj6t35 just got a cylinder pre-press
https://dab-mate.myshopify.com/collections/prepress-mould/products/dp-pm3015r

had been using a rectangular one for the past 3 months
https://www.dabpress.com/collections/prepress-mould/products/dp-pm4007

I saw an instant yield increase of 3% (on average) and I can now press 10g (2 pucks) without a decrease in yield.
With the rectangular pre-press my max yield came from 5g pucks.

Worst part....originally my press came bundled with the cylinder pre-press and i requested the rectangular.

That was part of the reason folks started doing bottle tech style, many reported better yields. I suspect it's due in part to the smaller puck, less surface area for it to travel through and around. Glad to hear you are getting better yields!

For your rectangle puck maker, it should help make kief pucks for pressing, those are usually pressed as a flat puck.

I’ve been doing bottle tech style for quite a while. I think it’s the better method for smaller quantities (I generally press 5g at a time as that gives me 1-1.4g of rosin generally so depending how many strains I have on the go it’s used up in 2-10 days)

great news!!

I have some keif on its way.

Do I press the keif and then put it in the bag, or do I fill the bag then do the pre-press?

Also did my first Rosin Edibles last night (I have mostly used Qwet in the past)

Decarb rosin, added it to melted Jolly-Ranchers.....stirred it good and put it into silicon molds.

Very nice!

Concentrates are a killer way to make edibles, I havent looked back since I switched. I only use my washed pucks for edibles though because I'm too stingy with my dabbable rosin  Yours I'm sure are more potent since you have less non-actives than my wash.

Yes you will probably want to cut a couple pieces of parchment paper to line the top and bottom of the pre-press, then just fill it as evenly as possible and tamp it down with the ram of the pre-press, then when you have enough material you should be able to push it out, remove the parchment pieces, and stuff it into the filter. Definitely use a low micron for kief though so you can keep any of those plant bits trapped.

Here's a kief brick ready to be bagged -

Well now. Wanted to say thanks to everyone who has contributed to the thread.

I had followed along, and then reread the thread. On sunday i placed my order for the 10 ton bundle, came with 160 micron bags and the stainless prepress. I know that will be here within the week, unless something happens. No real rush though, placed the order for the strongway with gauge and that could be about 3 weeks.

Appreciate all the comments and science that was done in the thread. Think i have a very good place to start as far as time and temp, with material.

Really looking forward to the press. I enjoy both flower and concentrates, but really like the idea that i will no longer need to find concentrates since i can simply make my own with pressing flowers.

Will be a bit before i have everything and my first squish in, but will pop back in afterwards to give an update.

Welcome @LongDraw glad to have you in this tech!:science: Your equipment will take your meds game to a whole 'nother level, as they say. Instant oil for vaporizing, as well as ready to decarb and turn into edibles. Compared to solvent extractions, we have no wait involved for high quality meds!

That backorder has been a real challenge, sorry about that. Even with our gauge kit at $30, it still puts the price of a pump with gauge up to around $80, a bit more than the strongway w/gauge.

Any questions that you have, feel free to ask. Also the rosin thread here on FC has a TON of information going way back

We have a quick start guide, the instructions are for bottle jack presses, but you can replace the nomenclature regarding the bottle jack and apply it to the hr10t35v. We'll have another guide made soon.

I just got off the phone with the sales rep at Northern Tool & Equipment. There are 150 strongway pump with gauge and hose 10-ton capacity (Item # 46278) in 3 separate orders due in before the end of the month.

50 pieces on each order, their ETA's are 3/15, 3/18 and 3/25.

Thanks for your patience!

I know this has been discussed but without having to go back and read a thousand posts to find it...... what's the best temperature and micron size for pressing dry sift?

I have about 10 or 12 grams. My first run was a 3 gram puck at 190F and a long time (I didn't time it.) and I only got about .6 grams. The second press brought about .2 more.

It was real dark and it was super dry 'shatter' that was almost 'static'.

So.... was I too hot, or too long? Or, both. LOL

I used a 25 micron cloth.

I did pre-press the sift but the puck fell apart by the time I got it wrapped. I'll try pre-pressing harder. I pre-press with the DabPress round steel press and a 1 ton arbor press. I can get the puck pretty tight if I need to. I figured, the more loose the better. Why even pre-press? Wouldn't it seem better to just fill the bag with dry sift?

Thanks

EDIT: Never mind. It was only one page back. LOL I'll try again with a slightly larger micron filter.

Hello Everybody.

So guess what came today, my 10 ton dabpress, with bundled items of bags and the 7 to 14 gram prepress.

Bags: Haven't opened yet, nice packaging haha.

Prepress: Dang, this could kill a person. Thing is heavy duty that is for sure. Think it will be great. I was glad to see this size offered in the bundle because i already have a smaller stainless stell prepress that should work well for under 7 grams.

10 Ton Prepress: I just unpacked it. Can't use it till the strongway pump comes in about 2 weeks. Even without using it all i can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this thing amazing looking. First, the size. I knew it was smaller, but I can't believe how small for the size/function. And, damn is it solid. For only 31 lbs, it has heft to it. I must have missed this in the thread, but i see both plates are now insulated, which is very nice. So, may not make sense since i haven't used it, but highly frigging recommend. I didn't need 10 tons, but the price difference between the 3, 6 and 10 was a no brainer to just go bigger and option of adding a pump with a gauge. For the weekend, it shall sit on my kitchen counter or therabouts just so i can look at it haha, thankfully i have an amazing/understanding wife.

So i put on the fit, and added the magnets. I see there are extra rubber feet included. Are these feet just backups or do they go somewhere else? I looked at the booklet but i didnt' see it mention it for sure. I also saw a few extra nuts/screws, and i am guessing these are backup as well.

Once my pump comes in i am sure i'll have a few questions to double check set up. In the package there was a nother piece that seems to belong around where the pump connects. I'll double check the booklet and online first to see if i need to use it with the strongway pump.

Psychonaut: Sorry, would tag you but not sure now. Wanted to say thansk for your ealier welcome from my fist post. No worries on the wiat for the pump. I had read the thread and new i could piece together the parts with what you guys offer, just figured i would try and show patience for once, haha, and get it all put together for me.

Overall, i really think this is an amazing price for the function, being 10 tens and size, as well as the mateirals used, feels very solid and in no way less quality. I really am amazed at just out of the package and costing a 3rd or so of what i have seen other devices. Also, some of those all in ones with far less tonnage would have worked for me, but the only i didn't like is what would happen when something breaks down? Would i have to ship the whole thing back, etc? With this device, i can see it it would be easy to replace controller, cords or plates, including updating pieces as you guys develop more improvements.

Thanks again everyone, can't wait to try it out here soon. Thankfully i have a lot of extracts on hand, but i think once those run out i don't see buying anymore. Might as well press your own and not worry about whats in it, etc.

I always seem to press on Friday nights. It’s a nice way to unwind from the week. Throw on some tunes and I’m in business.

This is the result of the last eighth of some Gorilla Glue I got back in November. Pressed darker than before, but it didn’t lose any of its really nice flavor.

Pressed at 195F for 2:30min. Came out just under .9 for over 24% return on the first press.

I am finding with the 3 ton press I can crank the pressure pretty high and not get any off color in the material. In fact, I think it might actually help get more quality yield on the first press leaving less for the 2nd. Although doing this the 2nd press is almost always pretty green in color.

I am usually pressing 2-4 grams at a time, fyi.
