So last night I was messing around with the DBV and noticed that the cap on the heater cover is stuck and won’t come off. I figured maybe it would cool and release but this morning there’s still no luck in removing it. Anyone had this issue before?

I guess I could try taking the whole heater cover off and pushing it out from the inside? But I’m afraid of breaking something..

You could try some careful torching of the female piece with a small torch if you've got one. That usually helps a lot with stuck joints for me

Try rocking (not turning) the cap a bit to see if it will break its grip. If not, and only if you really, really need to get it off, you could disassemble and try sticking it in the freezer for 15-20 mins. That will usually unlock glass, but no guarantees. Otherwise I would just wait until you really need to get it off.

Good advice. I was even thinking that it's a safety feature in the sense that if your DBV tipped over, the heated balls wouldn't spill out everywhere. 🙂

Take a smallish piece of dry ice (baskin-robbin's 31 flavors stores are a good source) and a pair of forceps (to protect digits) to chill the cap portion down. Easier than taking it all apart.

It might even work with an ice cube? Just don't try it until it's completely cooled!

Whoa. Really? Won't the thermal shock crack the glass?

I'd be worried about a drip falling onto the glass as well but I'm guessing you guys have done this before.

I have not! Hence my warning! It might be that a quick minute or two of the ice cube in contact with the stopper to shrink it just enough, but I would definitely do this only when completely cooled and unplugged!

Ah my bad! I wasn't sure what your intention was when you said "don't try it until it's completely cooled". I thought the "trying it" meant touching or lifting off the cap.

Yes, but not quite as well cause it's not as cold ...

And, yes, of course. Please don't do this on hot glass. I should have said this, old man brain fart. Room temp = OK, Hot temp = BAD.

Everyone is saying to cool it off but if that doesn't work I would actually suggest trying to take it off while it's hot (using a glove or mitt of course). The heater cover probably expanded while it was hot and the cap sank ever so slightly further in and got stuck there when the cover cooled off and shrank.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I had tried removing it while it was hot (1ish pm) but that wasn't ideal. I ended up letting it cool all the way off over night hoping that it would loosen enough on its own. It still wasn't budging by lifting on it directly or trying to twist. Tried some tweezers for leverage, no luck either.
Try rocking (not turning) the cap a bit to see if it will break its grip.
A couple attempts with the rocking motion broke it free finally. It took a little more force than I would've liked. I had to get a solid grip on the heater cover to prevent it from being bent in any direction too far, while simultaneously pinching the cap between by thumb and pointer finger giving it a back and forth rocking motion. After a few presses it wiggled and popped out. The surface area between where the cap and the opening of the heater cover touch appeared to have some very light scuffing where the pressure must've been.

I have my cap on, with the aroma dish sitting on top as well. The cap included with my order is flattened and the aroma dish sits plenty flat enough to not be a hazard. I noticed earlier in this thread some one had the issue of the dish not working with their included rounded cap due to it sitting too unevenly. They ended up requesting a flat cap from Elev8. Not sure if Elev8 took note of the order contents (baller mod and aroma dish) and just took the liberty of including a flat cap. They still state on the website they shouldn't be used together, but other than the weight of the dish seemingly locking the cap in tight there isn't any other issues i'm encountering. The dish takes a lot longer to heat and melt the wax as expected but it still gets there over time (hour ish with the dial at noon). Only lasting concern is the thermal fluctuations causing the cap to crack the heater housing.

I'm glad you got it unstuck! I think I'd be hesitant to use the dish of it touches or puts weight the cap. If that were the case for me I think I'd ask the for a flatter one, maybe?

Anyhow, it's good to hear you're up and running and I hope you're having a lot of fun with it!

I set mine to max heat when using the aroma top. When I want to use it for vaping I lower the heat and wait a bit. Then I set it back to max after my sesh is done. Zero issues with it being maxed out.
