It could be dust from the air drawn past the element, that burns invisibly as it comes in contact, while passing that rod.I have been using my DBV daily for months now and I am noticing white flakes on the ceramic heater. I am certain after examining that the heater isn't cracked, but I can wipe the flakes off.

The dust or particles will not get to you.
It would need to make it past the herb, and screen..... then down a sticky wand, and through 3 feet of sticky tubing and a sticky mouthpiece, before it can get into your moist mouth... from there the tongue and moisture in throat take over and filter ant unwanted particles before they get near your lungs (which also moisture to trap dust and particles.
I do not think so..
Residue on the rod would not burn off.
The dust that lands on rod immediately burns, some turns to ash and just sits there.
It takes months for this ash to form.
The dustier the area, the more forms.
Also, there is weed that falls into your unit that sometimes is light enough to suck into that air hole, and it too can adhere as a white ash to the rod.
You have the full support of 7th Floor LLC.
Please.. call them. They will take an interest.
Tell them that the response you got from "fellow vaporists on FC" was to contact the Professionals!
...and of course please report back and tell us what is going on.
I can not look that closely, the DBV has been on for years, and it is hot, 24/7.
I have a friends unit here, but due to spasticity I do not take things apart unless the situation is immediately urgent.
My LSV rod looks smooth and flawless.
Those are good images.
They look exactly like the elements on the DBV I use (I turned it off for 1st time in years for you!)
The lines look like staining.
My DBV element appears the same.
I have no sensation on fingertips.
My eyes can not focus so well.
I think they look the same.
This is not a criticism... but you may be over-thinking things here.
perhaps, go into a head shop, and ask to look at an element.
Wait for answer from 7th Floor.
If you are in any way nervous, use a different system until you get answer.
Hey all, new Da Buddha owner here. I'm having an issue with the heating element not staying up more towards the top of the cover. I haven't got to test it yet but I've been reading it should be very close but not touching the cover. Does mine look right? Thats as high as I can get the heating element and as far down as I can push the cover. I tried taking the cover off and gently pulling up the heating element but it feels like its spring loaded and just falls back down..thanks in advance

And... if you have no fear, like cluffy... you can "open her up" and re-bend the wire gently in your favor, to allow a higher resting spot.Just so you know, the heating element is not "spring loaded". It's just held in place by the two well insulated leads that go to it.......
...If you hold it up as far as it goes for a few seconds it will stay better.....
