Wrong. Try it yourself. When you hit on battery the temp goes down a lot more than when hitting while connected to power. The difference is obvious.
Good to know it can perform better while plugged in. How many bars out of the 6 have to be filled before you can use it while charging?

I believe @ShayWhiteGrow would be more equipped to answer if it's as good or better than the Minivap. The Crafty is amazing but if 5-6 sessions per charge isn't enough for you (and you don't use a USB portable charger), you should get the Mighty.
What kind of portable USB charger would you use and does the Mighty have much better battery life? They company I'm exchanging with only sell the crafty at the moment, would it be worth waiting till they get the mighty?

One that outputs 2A. This is what I use personally although I need to get a new one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D5T3QK4/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A294P4X9EWVXLJ

I believe the Mighty has about double the battery life. Again, it really depends on what you want most out of a portable vape. Battery life vs. smaller size. If you are considering the Crafty I hope you currently have a Android smartphone with Bluetooth 4.0 LE.
I'm still hopeful to get this working on a virtual Android device on my laptop that has built-in BT4.0 ... my Crafty should be here tomorrow so I should know tomorrow ... my environment's all set to go just waiting for my Crafty!

Does the app not work with an Iphone. Do you need the app to use the vape or can you use it without the app?

Not to be mean, but have you read the thread at all? Or even looked at S&B's website?

To answer your question, at present, no, the Crafty app is not on iOS. It is still waiting for Apple's approval. No idea when it will be approved.

You can use the vape without the app, but you will be limited to the two preset temperatures. If you want to change the preset temps, you will have to use the app.

That said, the stock temps are very nice. I suspect most people will be happy with them. I haven't even changed mine yet, still experimenting with them.

Yeah I looked at the website but I didn't read through all 30 pages of the forum, its a bit much. I read about the app waiting for apple approval but I wasn't sure if that meant that they have an app but it just wasn't endorsed by apple yet. Sorry if my questions seem very noobish but info and comparisons for the two vapes are kinda limited and I don't know how reliable the info the manufacturer gives

Good evening peoples,

Can I safely charge this with a samsung s3/s4/s5 charger/car charger?

I brought an official crafty car charger. But didn't want to fork out for a load of desktops when I have a load of samsung chargers floating about.

The crafty is great btw. Hits like a Plenty (which I also own) Except I'd say the Crafty vapor is even smoother.
Had 4 bowls so far and not had to charge yet.
Striped the unit a couple of times and the builds solid.
Best portable I have used. By far.

Expensive. But worth every penny.

I'm still experimenting also but I changed mine to 375*F and set the boost to 410*F or maximum.

I tried my S4 wall charger and it worked fine. I read in the manual that if Crafty doesn't like what you plug it into it gives an error light message. So it seems to me that if you plug Crafty in and it lights up normally then you are fine.

Well I just called S&B and asked their "technical dept" about this and they were clueless. Everything is too new he said. I did ask about the fine screen in the bottom of the filling chamber because it looked to me like it could be removed, cleaned, and replaced. He said "don't do that." I also asked for a turnaround time on battery exchange and he said they didn't know because no one had done it yet. He was interested in the app, how it was working and what phone I was using.

Great Scott!
Interesting. I'm still using the out of the box screen configuration and really don't see a need to tinker with much right now.

Why not buy it directly from the manufacturer?

Haven't ordered my Crafty yet (waiting for PIU to stock some...) but I managed to run Android on my spouse's Macbook air! :D

Anyone knows how to switch orientation though? And BT doesn't work, yes, so I should need a dongle I guess, right?

On average it seems the Crafty is good for 5 bowl sessions. What is the time to charge from a low battery to full charge? Has anybody used an external usb battery while using the Crafty? If so does it make a noticible improvement to how many sessions could be done back to back?

I'll post a tutorial from start to finish (including fixing orientation) tonight/tomorrow morning once I receive my Crafty if it works (I have everything working in the VM including the internal BT4 on my laptop, but don't have a Crafty yet to test, supposed to be here today!)

It will be for Windows but I don't think the steps will be that different for Mac. If your MacBook has a built-in BT4 adapter there shouldn't be any reason to purchase a separate dongle. You just have to enable it in your VM in VirtualBox.

JCat: I don't think the internal bluetooth will work on the Macbooks. I've looked into it, and there is one service that constantly loads BT into the operating system, such that Virtualbox cannot make use of it in the emulation. If someone figures out how, I'd be very interested, as I have all but given up on making the internal adapter work.

GR: In my experience, it takes between one and two hours to go from empty to a full charge. I have external battery packs laying all over my place that I received as promotional items - these will probably work, but they're flimsy and don't have close to the capacity as those you can purchase. Those battery packs allow the Crafty to charge for about an hour, although I am not sure how much charging got done in that time, given that the likely output was 1A and not 2A like the Crafty charger.

I'm planning on picking up a large capacity battery with a 2A output - seems to be about 20 bucks, so they are cheap. One of those I would imagine would double battery life, although as mentioned above, because the unit charges slower than it consumes power, you probably wouldn't get exactly 2 hours worth. But the more I play around with it, the more I'm realizing that for battery life, the Mighty is simply the way to go. I don't prioritize battery life, but someone that does would be better off just getting the bigger unit. I plan on using my battery packs as a backup source of power - I think it'd be too clunky and weird to use on a regular basis, due to the imbalance between charging and consumption.

Thank you philosopher.

I use large external battery packs with 2.1amp outputs for gaming on the ipad, it keeps the iPad going all night gaming without being tethered to an outlet. The hope is if the Crafty is connected to an external battery with 2.1 amp charge it could last for a serious session with multiple people.

A really cool feature would be the ability to turn the Crafty on and off via the app. That way it could be preheated and ready to hit before I even have to touch the unit.

Or is this a feature and I just haven't figured it out?

After a few more bowls, I can say for sure that the Crafty is a HEAVY HITTER! I have to be careful with it, can take me past where I want to go if I'm not careful ;). That said, you can definitely sip on it if you so desire. But if you're looking for something that can deliver some massive, flavorful hits, all with NO learning curve, the Crafty will more then satisfy you.

Anyone from Canada order from the S & B site? Just curious about shipping time and duty charges. Thanks, and I hope this was the correct place to post.
