Do you have a Bluetooth 4.0 device in your system? Can you see enable Bluetooth and its working in your Android environment?

(If you look at my screenshots you can see I could detect my iPhone and as well--not in the screenshots--my iPhone detected my Android-x86 environment)

I hope there will be a solution for me as well, running an Android emulator on my 7yo MacBook... I will possibly need an external BT 4.0 USB adapter of course cause my old one has only BT 2.0 I think.

If it works with my built-in Bluetooth 4.0 adapter it will definitely work with a USB BT 4.0 adapter as well (my internal BT adapter actually shows up as being on the USB bus)

I hope you get some results mate! I tried Bluestacks a couple of days ago and they wouldn't even start... which emulator is the best for this on MacOSX?

Couldn't resist, Crafty is on the way . . . I must be insane but I have wanted to be a Storz & Bickel customer for a long time but until now their products just didn't fit my lifestyle. Crafty hopefully will take good care of me when I'm traveling for the holidays later this year. The app is already on my Galaxy S4 looking for a Crafty to control . . .

So today I'll try testing just a couple hits here or there. I have to admit 1 hit, followed by a cool down hit after turning it off, has me more medicated than I'd usually get on a Monday morning...work day. Thats a good and bad thing lol. I'll have to try the bowl with the oil pad as a "spacer" later on and see if its good.

Who'd have thought my newest problem is that even one hit is too effective?

My plan is to see how well I feel it does with hits off the same bowl. For example if I packed the pax, I'd finish it every time, because IMO the conduction made it taste HORRIBLE once vaped at all. Do it all or nothing with that thing. Hopefully this works better as a couple hits here a couple hits there. Obviously this is not ideal for battery life, but I'm not sure I care during a work day.

I was reading about the liquid pads and it says they can hold up to 5 drops. I'm wondering if straight shatter would be best or thinning it down with some EJ Mix . . .

Well straight shatter will turn to straight liquid when heat is applied

The amount of bluetooth and android questions in this thread make me question if a little more on-unit control should have been provided. Maybe it won't be as big of a deal when the iOS app comes out.

Pretty sure your only option is Android-x86. You can run this in any virtual environment presumably, but that environment would have to support USB connections to host bus in order for the BT adapter to be visible. I would recommend VirtualBox and Android-x86-4.4-r1 as that worked in the Windows environment. I also just did a quick search online in regards to Android-x86 on MacOSX as well as USB support in VirtualBox on MacOSX and everything indicates that there is no reason this will not work if the Bluetooth device on your Mac is on the USB bus.

I think you are correct here ... getting things working in a virtual/emulated environment is not an easy task and not one that would be achievable by most without very detailed instructions.

The discussions around this I doubt would be coming up if the iOS app was out as almost everyone that is buying this vape, in my opinion, I would guess would at least know someone with an iPhone or iPad that would support the app.

In any case, since there is no ETA on when Apple will approve the app, in the meantime, since I have the expertise to do so, I thought I'd try to get this running in an emulator on a PC and if it works I will document it in detail so those without technical knowledge or access to an Android device that will work, can still make changes to the settings on their Crafty.

I used the 'droid emulator at Manymo.com. The emulator seems to run fine on my MBP, and I downloaded the Crafty app, but I get a parsing error when I try to open it. Boo.

Edit: same thing happens when I use the emulator on an iPad.

Manymo, being an online (in browser) emulator would not allow direct access to the USB bus on your PC which is required to get access to the local Bluetooth hardware ... that's why the only option is Android-x86 as far as I can tell, the other emulators don't support Bluetooth connectivity through USB passthrough (I've looked at Bluestacks and Andy as well, even installed them to double check, and searched extensively for any emulators with Bluetooth support ... the only one I could find was Android-x86)

You'd need to use either VirtualBox or VMWare or something like that (Hyper-V doesn't work due to its lack of USB passthrough support)

If the Fire TV has Bluetooth 4.0 then likely it will work I would expect ...

Edit: Once I actually have my Crafty, if it works, I will document the whole setup from start to finish with screenshots of setup w/ VirtualBox and Android-x86 on a Windows PC with a BT4.0 adapter.

I tested the booster temp setting issue on a different Android device yesterday and it still required a minimum booster temp of +32F. I contacted S&B and they responded this morning saying that it is a known issue and will be fixed in the next update. At least they're on top of it! The benefits of utilizing an app... updates can save the day.

FWIW I have the app working (no apple complaints here thank god) and yet I have the temps set to 180c and 195c for boost. I bought this because of the app (vs going with the mighty) and I rarely need the app.

If you want a device without app involvement just buy the mighty, or use the perfectly good preset temps. Or use the android app. If you are just bitter that it doesn't work with apple YET, then add another complaint to the closed ecosystem. People have been bitching about this from the beginning, and Apple has no plans to change the model. Don't buy into it if you don't support it.

No one is here forcing people to buy Apple devices, or craftys. I can't get over people complaining that the crafty has no onboard controls....THATS THE POINT. If you want onboard controls it gets bigger, and you end up with the mighty. Even when people are given the options they want, they find a way to be unhappy. If you aren't happy with the offerings of the crafty (needs android for now) or the mighty (bigger but needs nothing) then move on and check out the dozens of other nice portable vapes.

I think it sounds more like the size of it, and thus discretion and portability, are what "set us free" ... in my opinion of course ... I doubt I'll ever use the app after I get my presets tuned the way I like ...

Sorry I must have misread what you were trying to say.

I don't think its that crazy of a slogan though. Everyone I know who has a stable job has a smart phone in one pocket 24/7. For me this is great to reduce the bulk, but the mighty was a close second to fitting my lifestyle. I love to tinker and love android, hard to not declare it a nice match. I'm charging via microusb right now at my desk at work. The microusb was the ultimate deciding factor. There is a good chance if the mighty could charge via microusb, I'd have skipped out on the cool app and the crafty.

Yeah actually I suppose that is kind of cool and subversive, but at the same time it's also that classic Marketing & Advertising tactic of selling "revolution".

As in, "look at our revolutionary new product," because its so Special how this New Technology makes the User a Unique and Free Individual, thus granting them Happiness and Success too.

The unfortunate part is that such discretion is still necessary to engage in for so many.

i tried sideloading to app to a fire tv using adb, and got this message...
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK]

adb connected fine to the fire tv's ip addy, and tried to upload the Crafty little app, but no joy.

Yeah unfortunately Amazon devices are like the Apple of android lol. All locked down and many frameworks and google services missing. Supposedly you can root them and mod them to work, but my girlfriend wouldn't appreciate me tinkering with her personal tablet, so I'm no help there.
