Nice to be able to change it, isn't it? I wonder if it would double as a flashlight with the brightness on full. I think the app control will be a significant marketing tool for this model, especially if Apple OK's it. This dual vape launch kind of reminds me of the iPhone 6 debut, with a choice of 2 different sizes.

I think the cleaning claims are unfounded so far. I've had 6ish bowls in it so far. Dumping it out while its warm and blowing on the screen and the thing looks brand new.

I would have to agree. I'm up to my 6th bowl and do the same as you. Empty while warm and blow out with the vape turned upside down. So far not even a sign of debris or dirt in the unit or on the screen of the mouthpiece. Seems people should wait to try one before saying how it performs.

Does S&B make power banks, or just have a company make 'em and put their name on? You're welcome to stick with official S&B accessories, but USB power is USB power for me. You won't convince me that their bank is anything special.

Ya, but don't most electronics have something to that degree? I know most phones I've bought have some line like that. They want you to buy their marked up products.

It's not that there aren't MANY other options available that work, it's more that they (S&B in this case) can't guarantee every option out there. So they just say to use theirs and be done with it.

You'll be safe using any other car/wall charger. Some might not charge as quickly, ie they have a 1A output instead of 2A. But they'll still work.

Yeah, you're right. I guess that's the point of USB charging. I just like to go by the book. Do you think regular or occasional use of, for example ,1A instead of 2A USB power sources could be detrimental to battery life?

My biggest downside right now, is charging time and lack of iphone app with the crafty.

I'm getting ready for a flight right now but wanted to chime in briefly because I used my Crafty for the first time last time, so some things I want to note:

- I can't get it to work with my MBP using an Android emulator. It won't connect. If anyone else can get this working, please share how.
- The little "Crafty" logo on the top of the unit is a lock for the cooling unit. I'm not sure I've seen this mentioned yet. Just slide the logo when the cooling unit is in place and it locks it on there. A simple but useful feature.
- This thing hits BIG. I was exhaling some shockingly big rips, nothing like I've gotten from any of the previous portables I've tried.
- The battery lasts pretty well. I got around 25 hits. That includes about 8 heat ups because I was only taking a couple hits at a time and then powering it down. Pretty solid - enough time to keep me incredibly medicated over the span of a 4 hour concert
- The Crafty hits, to me, more like a desktop than a portable. I'm not saying this can necessarily replace your EVO or Herbalizer, but it's the closest I've seen a portable get by far.
- The bowl roasts perfectly evenly. No stirring required. Very impressive ABV.
- I found the stock boost temp to be perfect. Cool enough that it didn't irritate the throat, hot enough that it extracted pretty much everything I wanted. The low temp was a bit too low for me, but I typically vape at higher temps.
- The vibrate function is the key to stealth! It vibrates when it powers on, it vibrates again when it reaches temp, it vibrates again when you press the button for turbo, and again when it reaches that temp. It doesn't have to come out of your pocket until it's completely ready. I originally thought I'd want to deactivate the vibrate function to help save battery, but it's kind of indispensable.

I don't really have any negatives to add yet, other than the fact that the app isn't available on iOS at this time so I can't mess with the settings. But as far as functionality goes, this was definitely worth the money to me.

Update: Android app is working now on my Nexus 5, not sure what my problem was yesterday. Didn't do anything differently. App works well and its quite cool to see the temps change in real time. Was nice to be able to change both the temps and the LED brightness. One small glitch I've noticed is that the "boost" temp is set to go up by +59F when it actually goes up to the low 380s. I'm sure that this will be fixed in an app update.

Also, battery life seems to be improving. Here's a breakdown of a battery test that I conducted yesterday with a friend. Waited at least 15 minutes between sessions. Both temps are the default presets so they can be replicated by others to establish a baseline:
1. On for 4:17, boost for 1:15, off
2. On for 3:33, boost for 2:02, off
3. On for 3:15, boost for 3:56, off
4. On for 3:23, boost for 3:36, off
5. On for 5:30, boost for 3:03, off
6. Unit powered itself off during heatup


Was already pleased with the unit but am much happier to have the app working and the battery performing better.

Edit: Full recharge took 2 hours plus a few minutes.

Big air holes! Great pattern and design! First one with that hole pattern was Cera I think, then the Lotus V2, then the Firefly and now Crafty/Mighty. I believe S&B did it better though and those big holes make for a more even airflow, hence the more even ABV and lack of hot spots… Tribute to the frontiers though!

And how is the bowl screen removable?

I wonder if the crafty and mighty use a helix air path? And by helix air path I mean it twists in a circle and isn't just holes straight through the aluminum.

I have Bluetooth 4.0 in my laptop so I think I'll try to get an android smartphone emulator setup with Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) support and get the Crafty app installed ...

I'll let everyone know how it goes and if I can get it working we'll have a working solution for owners who don't have access to an Android device with BLE (or even an iOS device once the iOS app is released ... for example I currently have an iPhone 4 ... so not supported ... will be upgrading next year but in the meantime would like an app to get my presets set)

@darkrom your talk about flavor has me excited, especially since you're a FF user. Have you been packing the bowl full every time? I'd like to be able to use less, but it sounds like it would still work fine?

I pack it full every time. I'll try a smaller load. I think the firefly is possible to deliver better flavor, but overall I get more controlled and accurate hits with the crafty, which results in better total flavor IMO.

I was hoping to set my two temps at 380 and 400. But instead when I set my standard to 380, it makes the booster temp max out. I wonder if that'll cause any problems since the booster is technically greater than 410 at that point.

BlueStacks doesn't support Bluetooth yet ... so that one's a no go ...

Edit: I've done some preliminary research and looks like the only option with Bluetooth support will be to install an Android-x86 OS inside a VM on my PC ... this apparently supports Bluetooth and the newer Android OS's ... this might well be the ticket to getting the Crafty app running on a PC ... (I'm hopeful that this will act as a bridge until the iOS app comes out )
