Do you think it will work just as well?I haven't done solids but I did put a bunch of shatter in the liquid pad. The hits are never ending . . .
I'm pasting this comment from the following source (http://www.vapecritic.com/vaporizers/crafty/) as I thought this aspect coming from a disabled person, in this case a blind person, was very interesting and not talked about before on this thread.

I want to give my input on the Crafty from a different perspective. I am blind and absolutely love this thing. It is an outstanding example of a concept called “inclusive design”. In a nutshell, that means creating products that work with as many of the five senses as possible to create a better experience for everyone regardless of ability or disability. Storz and Bickel nailed it with this vaporizer.
The vibration feedback is fantastic and is way more than a gimmick. It can be felt as well as heard and when combined with the LED conveys status information to the user through three senses. Since vaporizers in general provide sensations of taste and smell, that means the Crafty interacts with users through all five senses. I am not aware of any other product ever that has managed to accomplish that feat. Any potential user will be able to know what is going on with the unit. That multi-sensory feedback together with the one button operation makes the Crafty friendly to just about everyone and in a wide range of use scenarios. You do not even really need a functional finger to push the button (pushing it against a knuckle, edge of a table, or even a tooth will work perfectly) so the unit could even be used by somebody with limited use of their hands. Loading and unloading are also super easy. As a blind person I can do it unassisted without any problem. There has not been a need to thoroughly clean yet but I do not anticipate too much trouble. The chamber and screens are a breeze. The cooling unit seems do-able as well but they also sell complete replacement cooling units for $19. Worst case, I could probably use one for a couple months without cleaning it at all then just replace it with a new one.
The smart phone app provides a huge advantage that you have not considered. Yes, it provides basically the same information and functionality as the display on the Mighty. But, there is one very big advantage to the app. Smart phones already have a wide range of accessibility features already built in to the OS or available through third parties. That makes the Crafty accessible to a very wide range of people with disabilities; people who have already figured out how to make a mobile device work for them in the ways that they need. I, for example, use the screen reader (Voice Over on iOS, Talkback on Android) and can access all of the information and functions that the Crafty offers. A simple display on a vaporizer cannot do that.
The Crafty is an impressive device that is also wonderfully accessible. And, that accessibility has actually made the use experience better for everyone. I really wish that many more products in the world were designed like this one. Huge kudos go to the Storz and Bickel design team. I suggest that the Crafty be your first suggestion to anybody with a disability or serious health issue.
The performance and efficiency of this thing also just blow me away. After a few days of use, I have tentatively settled on a base temperature of 190 C/374 F and a boost temperature of the maximum 210 C/410 F. I vape on the base temp until the flavor is gone then I do several more pulls at max to make sure I have wrung out all of the goodness from the material. No need for me to see the vapor that way. I am admittedly something of a lightweight, but using the Crafty this way I can get [good results] using 0.1g of material or even less. Along with all of its other benefits, this vaporizer is going to eventually pay for itself through conservation of material.
I have not found the auto-shutoff to be a problem. To prevent it from kicking in I act sort of like I am timing my draw with a stopwatch. I click the button at the start of the draw and then click it again at the end of the draw. That gives a full minute to relax in between. Works great and is easy to become automatic. This is not unlike how you recommend just squeezing the handle of the Plenty every time it is picked up.
I'm quite moved by this review. I found his unique insights eye opening, and like a number of fellow posters throughout FC discussing the difficulty our color blind friends suffer with colored indicators, it nudged me out of my paradigm, to consider the world outside my experience. It's fair to say a blind man helped me to see more clearly.
It would be great if this poster, "Glenn", joined us here at FC. so he might partake of the wealth of FC love and support.
@oli if you're already signed up on that site, would it be too much to ask of you to extend an invite to Glenn to come visit our compassionate community?
I've no doubt he would be warmly embraced.
And bravo to S&B, for serving the world such a considered device.
It will be on my signature.
Honestly, so glad to hear this!@Thcgos
I tried the abv from the crafty in the solo and did not really get anything to come out of it.
Also I decided to give the solo a try with non abv, I noticed that the solo vapor is indeed harsher. I think I can now start appreciating the Craftys method of extraction, almost like a subtlety of purity which translates into the actual effect.
I guess Its kind of like when I first tried vaporization, it didn't seem as strong as combustion because of the lack of extra byproducts, It did not take me long to learn to appreciate the purity. I think my transition from the solo to the crafty experience is similar but at a more subtle scale.
I'm almost 2 weeks in and it has only shut off on me once and I've never pressed the button to keep it on (and to be honest it happened when I gave it to a friend).I must hit hard because I have yet to ever have it auto shut off on me. And I can't seem to hit it soft enough to not make the heater go down?

Dude it has been discussed a lot. scroll back a few pagesNobody answered my question lmao how much is can you put in along with the oil pad? And if you use the oil pad as a spacer, is there any fall off in quality
If you can melt the concentrate into the liquid pad you should be fine. Anything with enough plant matter to not melt might be better suited to vape with herb. I'm not sure though since I have never tried it.Do you think it will work just as well?
I have no experience with concentrates at all except the ones I reclaim.
Do solids work the same as shatter or wax with other vaporizers?
T-Dub are you putting the concentrate on top of the pad or under it? I tried some on top but didn't have much luck. Mind you I didn't persevere with it though. Concentrates are super expensive for me so I really dislike wasting any.If you can melt the concentrate into the liquid pad you should be fine. Edit: The Liquid Pad takes a bit to get saturated but once there performs well.
This is probably my biggest beef as well. I'm sure I'm going to lose that tool pretty fast. Thankfully, replacements are not too expensive. The stirring tool, slots in a way that blocks the micro usb port. Maybe that was how S&B designed it but if i want to charge then i have to remove the tool from its slot and then remember to put it back in after, potentially making it something you could lose. Not a very elegant solution, just a small niggle in a otherwise very well thought out product!
Agreed, exactly what I do too.I just flip the stirring tool around to expose the USB port. That way it stays attached to the Crafty when charging and isn't likely to get lost.
Haha yeah I tried that too. Unfortunately then it wouldn't stand upright when charging, so now I just slot it in near the slots under the cooling unitI just flip the stirring tool around to expose the USB port. That way it stays attached to the Crafty when charging and isn't likely to get lost.
http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-crafty-by-storz-bickel.15984/page-22#post-679890Sad panda here. I just got my second Crafty today and after the second bowl my app is stuck on this:
Any ideas? I've already rebooted the app several times as well as my iphone.
Try briefly touching the power button on Crafty, or plug it in, to wake up the BlueTooth. What happened to the first one?
Thanks, but tried that. Also fully powered it up (tested app) and back down (tested app) a few times with no luck.
As to the first one, let's just say it got permanently borrowed by a buddy of mine.
It was connected just fine before it just stopped on the third bowl. So it's not a compatibility issue with my phone.
Do I have a bluetooth failure in my brand new Crafty?
