There's one in every crowd, right?
The BT will no longer connect to phone, but tablet remains paired aplthough unable to see S/N, timeer, etc.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Noticed a TON of complaints about the app - 2.5 star rating.
I agree this is an amazing vaporizer. There is some amount of pass-through charge, which I like. The dosing capsules are cheap and easy to deal with. The heat exchanger is the secret sauce and makes the most lucious cool clouds with the ecooling unit, which cleans ike a preeze. If you can affor the ultimate luxury tiny vape, this may be the onw - all this from the guy that got the defective.

So I just bought a Crafty on Kijiji for $50. From what I can tell, it's in next to new condition. Very clean, not a ding on it, bowl is not stained, nothing....looks new.

I can tell it had been used a little bit due to the bit of honey oil inside the cooling unit. I did give the upper half of the CU a quick clean in ISO, but I was almost out, so I just agitated it a bit and scrubbed it with a q-tip. There was a bit of residue/bits on the uptake of the CU, due to a coarse screen being used in the CU. I did scrub it very well and got MOST of the buildup out of it (this is a hardened light brown bunch of resin I would say, not really honey oil to me (caked on). Anyway, I got that 95% cleaned up.

So I started vaping with it, and I noticed a strong plasticy (?) taste? I don't know if the guy was vaping something strange with it, but I have never tasted anything remotely close to that in my Mighty. I have gave it the college try and am still consistently getting a strange taste out of it. Good clouds, I've been getting 3 bowls/charge, and have had no problem connecting first try with the App.

Has anyone else noticed a difference in flavour between the Crafty and Mighty? I didn't think knockoffs were an issue with the Crafty, but is it possible I got a knockoff?

@joner - I have never had any plastic taste with my Crafty. But taste is subjective.
Are you able to connect your Crafty to an app? (I know they are no longer available on IOS, but still on Google Play and also @JCat did something if you read a few posts up. That should tell you whether it’s legit or not.
If it is legit, maybe buy some new cooling units that are completely clean of residue.
Just a few thoughts. Good luck!

Thanks @Jill NYC ! I have not had ANY issue connecting to the app. Funny thing though is it said that hours were "N/A". I haven't checked it after running it a couple hours but I will when I get home tonight.

I'm going to try giving it a real good cleaning, rebuild it with all new o-rings, make sure it's all assembled correctly as well. Also going to try my Mighty CU on it to see if the taste persists. I'll likely weigh in with any results I have!

Have you done a burn off? If not, some run as one ABV through at 410F.

I had a slight taste in my Crafty but a couple 410 burns cured it.

I didn't, just because it was used. I usually do, but there was residue build up in the CU, so I didn't think a burnoff would do anything (technically should already have been burned off).

Unless there was only like one bowl vaped through it and a LOT of residue/bits come through the stock coarse screen (which I have already swapped with a finer bulbous screen) in that one bowl, but I have already vaped like 10 bowls or more through it and the taste persists.

Drag! Hit 410, ISO soak for 10, dry and try one more time.

You bought a Crafty for $50. Think about that for a second. Why is it so cheap?
Chances are its fake or something is really wrong with it. There shouldnt be any plastic smell or taste.

I would look at the serial code at the back and confirm its legit.

Try discern if the taste is coming from the detachable cooling unit or the crafty itself.
Id buy a new cooling unit and replace the screen inside the unit and also iso clean the heating chamber with a DAMP (NOT WET) earbud dipped in iso.

I think you may be using those earbuds incorrectly.
Q-tips are cheaper! :)

Good idea for a category there, I love user friendly stuff at this level of performance.

doesn’t crafty+ still need to be connected via an app (that isn’t available for iOs anymore) to change preset temps?
This part looks anything but easy or user friendly and it is the reason why i stayed away from crafty or any other app controlled device.

With the original Crafty I used the App a lot! But with Crafty+ Presets (180-195-210) I don’t need to use it! But u are right , it is not available for apple products at the moment!
I don’t know any vape that works out of the box as good as the Crafty+!

3 presets now and 1 button operation make it easier than Mighty or Solo2!
I really enjoy just preset 1 and 3 in mine. I can load, vape and empty it in darkness, or with eyes closed so I really agree with Sneaky Pete's choice here.
Very open airflow too, a big point for me after a lung issue.
Consistency and foolproof complete extraction are other strong points.

If you needed to make an adjustment and your device doesn't run the app, you might be able to find somebody to help by using their device.
I think I heard of someone doing it in a phone shop once!

Since the Crafty+ has been available what has been the best deal for it? We can get 15% off at Puffitup but wondering if there's been anything better before I pull the plug.

Thinking I want this for when I'm out and about and don't want to deal with too many separate pieces or glass. This thing would fit in a fanny pack along with some pre-loaded capsules (plus as an ex-Mighty user I know that I can expect tasty flavors and even extraction from the C+)

I just got an email about a new web based APP from S&B so they've now addressed that thing with Apple maybe?
Wonder if they used Jcat's app or made their own.

Can you speak to draw resistence in Crafty+ compared to Mighty?

On the Modern Cannabists Crafty+ stream, Stickstones said he noticed quite a difference ("night and day") drawing on Crafty+ and older Mighty, while Troy didn't really with a newer Mighty so on the spot they figured it could be just better than older Mightys, and maybe newer Mighty's were already slightly improved over old.
At around 23:45 in this video:
(Can only be watched on Youtube. There is a good hours conversation from the start about the differences there also if you like)

My current Mighty is nearly 2 years old and was a 20% extra battery model yet I find the difference very noticeable.
When I draw hard I can feel the Mighty fighting against me more.
The lung issue I had nearly made me an expert on feeling draw resistance or just needing less of it!

The first time I noticed a Mighty even had any draw restriction was after trying SSV, so it was adequate to the point I never even noticed any until I tried a more open vape, and Mighty/Crafty never had much complaints at all in that dept.
So even a slight difference like what Crafty Vapor pointed out should make for quite a free flow feeling vape.

Knowing what I know about heaters needing to be hot enough and not overwhelmed by cool air, makes it very impressive how it now responds by giving out nice strong vapor if you try to overwhelm it.
The vapor feels to be getting more powerful instead of thinner like the old Crafty may have on long hard draws.
Im sure the airflow assists vaporisation in general because when we vape, we only really use heat and air movement.
The newly exposed and visible heater element under the bowl probably helps minimizing the heat lost, or speeds up recovery.
Along with any revised electronic responses to temperature changes.

I had tried to demonstrate the airflow differences by draining vessels of water with my vapes connected but I only found a small difference and I didn't think it was significant enough at the time, allowing for errors.
Rather than waste more water I turned it into a big gravity bong experiment and had fun instead!

I later saw Jerry Stickstones tour of vapes and equipment and he showed hospital style apparatus for measuring breathing and suction strength which he said he uses for such experiments.
Don't know if he applied it to this vape yet though!

One place where it appeared to make an even bigger difference to me was on a water pipe, but even though I'm much more confident in this devices abilities than the old one, I don't really want to rag on it too hard and anyway I have switched to mainly dry use with these now.
A Mighty+ would be great for water.

Edit- The S&B website comparison says "exceptional airflow 10l per minute" for the Crafty+ and the Mighty, I think it was always stated that way though? Mine is a 20% white box Mighty with born on date of: 08-2017. It was an RMA replacement.

Edit 2- In the video, Troy tests the airflow in his three vapes by swapping out a Crafty cooling unit between them, so it would have been nice to see if a real close comparison with the right CUs on would've made any difference to his thoughts at all!

That sounds good! Especially with a free grinder, WPA, and no VAT like EU has!
