Ok so ive tried going through all the pages here to find answers to my questions, but im still only at page. 94 after spending so many hours reading and reading, and I need a quick answer so forgive me if this has been asked before.

1) My Crafty seems to be charging very slow with my Samsung charger (maybe 4 hours or so). The Samsung charger says output: 5.0V = 0.7A. Can I get a more powerful charger which will get the job done faster?

2) I need a Powerbank. Does all powerbanks work with the Crafty? If you have any suggestions it would be great - I dont need a huge one, just a few recharges would be great. On the first 93 pages of the thread this one has come up a couple of times: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H9BEC8E/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But page 94 is like 1½ year old so a lot could've happened since.

3) Cleaning. Using alcohol, is this safe to vape?
Factory Crafty charger is 5.0V 2.0A, so look for a usb that will give you the 2amps and Crafty will charge faster.
From its specs., it looks like that powerbank will charge a Crafty. see the output ratings of the 2 usb outlets, #2 is 5V, 2.1 amp, so that is fine. Idk if it's the best one available or not, but looks good.

I have a MI 16000mah, wich have 2.0A and a 1.0A USB port for charging numerous devices. I can charge the crafty about four times generally, as fast as the original wall charger. It's cheaper than the s&b PowerBank, nice with an aluminum shell but big to carry of course :)
I think it's a better deal than the one you've mentioned above, but you can watch some test in the Internet as well (for real capacity and performance)

Although for cleaning, I use ethanol bath for the CU and o-ring, and q-tip with ethanol for the oven and all is clean without leftover. Iso should be good to as long as there is no remaining.

Thanks a lot! And you are absolutely sure that it is 2A? Think I read somewhere that you shouldnt give a Crafty more than 1A but I might be mistaken.

Yes, I have three of them.
Cleaning with iso alcohol is fine, but use at least the 92%, preferably the 99%. Rinse well with water after.
edit:
When shopping power banks, you might also want to check on how long it takes to recharge the bank itself. Some only recharge via usb and can take a long time. Others will have an adapter to take charge faster from the wall outlet.

Again thank you so much.

I need the smallest power bank possible. It only needs to be able to charge the Crafty 1 time and then im happy but it still needs to do it quick so 2A is neccesary. What should I look for?

Got my Crafty today.

For some reason it is extremely slowly reducing temperature even though it hasn't been heated up in about an hour.

It took about 2 minutes to go from 32C to 31C. Is this normal? Really hope this is nothing to worry about..

Enjoy your Crafty! No worries, use it enjoy it and when it makes probs, deal with the excellent customer service from S&B! It is my way to use this little beast!:rockon:

You're fine, it takes longer close to 30° because it's close to room's temperature, making it more difficult to dissipate the remaining heat.

Nothing to worry in this case, you can continue to enjoy this wonderful little beast! :)

Edit: oops too slow :p

Thank you both!

Just tried my first little use, put a very small amount in as well as a liquid pad and got no vapor.

So next, I shall try a full chamber!

I still feel pretty good though.

Shame my crafty is basically dead now. I did do a 15 minute heating with no herb to get rid of any possible manufacturing oils, charged for a bit and then used.. so probably my own fault.

Think I will let the unit cool down before charging it, as I don't want to damage the battery in any way.

I'm being super paranoid about this vaporizer because I have wanted the Crafty for so long hahaha...

One last concern though, sorry guys!

I watched a review from The Vape Critic and he said the unit only gets a little warm, mine does actually get fairly hot after a few minutes and stays this way for quite a while with the unit turned off.

Peace guys :)

EDIT: I got a message on the app saying "Battery temperature too hot, allow the vaporizer to cool down"

This is only at like 180C. Don't think I would feel happy to crank it up because it gets so hot now.. really need some tips. :(

The crafty can get pretty hot, especially the bottom and if you're not holding it in your hand. It's totally common even on base temp ;)

If you're getting the overheat message, maybe you're doing back to back session? If so, you should avoid doing it and let it cool for a few minutes before turning on again, as it's known to lead the crafty to prematurely died...

Don't overfill the bowl and don't pack it tight, the airflow need space to travel and heat the material evenly. See the manual for more information, he's pretty well made!

Although you're right about the battery, she need to be cool before charging, in order to extend lifespan (as other li-on battery).

You can aim for three/four session on a full charge, and you could look to the crafty warm-up thread in order to leave your test :)

When I first got the unit, I didn't place anything in the chamber, simply heated it up for around 15 minutes to remove any manufacturing oils. I noticed it got very hot and was pretty disappointed.

I let it cool for about an hour and a half, then used it with the smallest bit of herb and liquid pad on top.

I got light vapor for the first two draws, then nothing, also with the unit getting very hot again.

It has been cooling down for at least an hour and is still a little warm.

Really hope I don't have to send my Crafty in. If I do, what's the average sort of time until a fixed/new unit is sent back?

It may depend if you're in the US or elsewhere. If you're in the US, from their date of receipt until return to you should be not more than 2 weeks, but likely less.

Hope that helps...

How much is your smallest bit? :)

If I fill a half bowl of fluffy grind material, I get a 5 min session and at least ten hit of dense vapor.

When it comes to vapor, the quality of your material takes a great part of your vape's experience.

When does came the overheating alarm? In wich condition? On turbo temp? Are you using it upside down on a water piece? How many time do you finish a bowl?
Try using it from room's temp, holding it tight in your hand with a full bowl and let us know how is it going :)

In EU, my RMA process had taken 10 days from the first mail to the first bowl ;)

Not sure how much it was specifically, but I tried with a full bowl and I got some light vapor and it seemed to not get as hot as before.

Surprising, as I put it on a higher temp.

I used on max temp this time, no water pipe or anything just regular use.

And I'm not quite sure what you mean by using it from room temp? The herb wouldn't vaporize then would it?

If you packed a full bowl you should be getting massive restriction free hits with huge clouds.

This is one of the easiest portable vaporizers to get fully medicated.

Something doesn't sound right

That's just as I thought. :(

So frustrating;/

By room temp, I was talking about the temperature of the crafty, being close to the room temperature.

How do you grind your material? Do you pack your bowl tight or loose (loose is preferred)?

Are you trying different breathing techniques? Don't try to hit as hard as you can, in case you didn't know ;)

Are you sure your material isn't in cause? Even with a half bowl, you should get some dense hits...

If not, your crafty may be defective...
I've just pack a bowl with the screen barely covered, on 195/210 and I got 5 dense hits...

Edited to add some stuff.

Do you get good airflow drawing on the unit when it's empty/off??

Also maybe check the CoolingUnit... Disassemble/reassemble

Although how is your ABV at the end of your session?
It should be a deep even brown :)

Something very very odd has happened.

My Crafty seems to get better with every single use.

From my 3rd/4th session the overheating wasn't as bad, then it stopped completely.

I also am getting significantly more vapor each time!

In a couple days, my vapor should be on point.

I wonder why this is though...

And to answer your question, the AVB is generally a brown colour but some sessions its goldy brown.

I feel I get fully medicated each time, even right from the start with the overheating issues.

I got my crafty yesterday and tried it out, worked pretty decently. Granted, I put in very little material as I'm a lightweight.

I'm new to vapes, but it says it highly recommends packing the chamber full to produce the best quality. So my question is, is it like a traditional pipe where if you were to pack it fuller you'd simply be 'wasting' the extra material (since I don't want to use it all obv). Or will it only "vaporize" enough for what I need and I can re-use that filled chamber multiple times without having to reload it.

Hi @GenericUsername ,
From what I've read, most choose to finish in a session what they put in.
I've split a bowl between two sessions, but only when interrupted.

The dosing capsules may be a good fit for your usage patterns, in two different ways:
  1. Easy to limit your dose. Fluffy almost filled capsule is about tenth of a gram, 0.1g. Session is over quickly, couple minutes. No need to wait between draws like most portables.
  2. Or, fill/pack the capsule for 0.15g or more. Dump capsule out onto safe surface when you want to take a break. This way your load is removed from the hot chamber and minimizes loss during the break.
I probably sound like a sales rep for S&B, but hopefully you can spend about $30 for a spare cooling unit, magazine of eight capsules, and spare O-ring seals. (free shipping over $25)
