Think you are the first to drop one on a hard surface. (We've had a couple of floaters)

Will be interesting to see if they cover it. I doubt it personally, but you never know.

That just happened...
I would not expect them to cover it. If you crash a car does ford get you a new one? But if they do bonus! I'd let them know how it happened.

Hey guys been a silent reader for around 18months I've owned the plenty vape for 15months which is a bad ass
Vape very heavy duty! I've had the crafty for 3 months and clocked up 62hrs it is a wicked little vape and packs as good hit as the plenty but the first time I've dropped I've cracked the collar where the mouth piece connects, wil this be covered in the warrenty has anyone had the problem?
I don't think accidental damage is covered by the warranty but I agree that it's worth a shot.

Hi Welcome,
Just send it in, maybe mention in your covering letter that it was not performing well and the crack appeared with use. Or maybe dont mention the crack at all, send it in with just the body no cooling unit charger or parts. I sent in my unit which was cracked (actually broken off) and still working and got a replacement with 84hrs on it. I think they are just replacing all the early models anyway.

I won't be tellin them I dropped it. Are the early models made with weaker plastic as a few of the fins on the side have also broken off for no apprent reason.

What do u mean by floater? Lol

There are some pics above that show orange o-rings.

Is that indicative of the "new" version of the Crafty?

Mine has blue o-rings.

I think all it really means is they used different o-rings. I'm not aware of a physical change in the device.

Woo hoo! Looks like I'm joining the Crafty club this afternoon!

I see some of you have been using the MiniVAP small basket in conjunction with the Crafty. To clarify, do you just pack it like you regularly do and drop it in the Crafty chamber? Or are you using it on top of herbs to compress them down in the chamber?

Last week, I mailed my Crafty to Storz & Bickel for replacement because the hinge that connects with the cooling unit broke and I was having issues with the battery. Got it back today, after only 7 days so their turnaround is fantastic. Reading earlier in the thread, some users said they received brand new packages with a new set of everything. That wasn’t my experience; I received a refurbished unit by itself. I’m just a tad disappointed, even though I shouldn’t be because they never gave me any reason to expect a new set.

At any rate, the new unit is my old heating chamber with a new case and [what seems like] a new battery. They gave it a new serial but it has the same Bluetooth ID and operation time as my original unit. The firmware has been updated from 2.04 to 2.05. Just thought I’d add my experience to the thread.

In terms of cleaning the cooling unit, I found that if you heat the alcohol a bit in the microwave [a minute or so should do for 2-4 fl oz] it only takes a couple minutes to clean and it gets *everything* off. I just rinsed after and it was like new.

Big thanks to elmomuzz for the tip about using a screen in the chamber. I much prefer it to using the liquid pad as you can use it with any bowl load size and causes less draw resistance.

Pack the basket and drop it in. More convection, less conduction. This also good from an efficiency standpoint.

you can also use the Crafty in exactly the same way that you would use a miniVAP with no lid! works great and you get a different experience due to the almost total lack of conduction

do you mean no cooling chamber attached?
:hmm:

Sounds interesting, please explain.

I'm just about to order some minivap baskets.

This is a little dissapointing, but i did think to myself that it wouldnt last.
You would have thought they would reset it if they changed the battery. I hope they did change it for you though, time will tell.

Some differences since using the new unit i found:

  • The bottom of the crafty doesnt get as hot, my old unit used to get pretty hot to touch, where as this one is much cooler
  • I find that i hardly ever have to keep switching it back on, the auto shut off seems to be better set-up and re-sets after most meduim sized pulls
  • The base of the unit doesnt get as hot during charge like it did before
  • Battery life slightly improved (This maybe just through less heat produced by better firmware/electronics)

All these changes reported are pretty interesting. I recently did a review on the Crafty and got in touch with S&B to get authorization to use some of their images. After I got the authorization I asked them if they could comment on some of the revisions that have been made. They replied that nothing has been changed.

Well there are certainly a lot of reports on FC to the contrary, aren't there?

I have over 30 hours on mine and still going strong. I'm hoping it stays that way!

yes, with no cooling chamber attached. just look at any of the miniVAP milk vids posted by @Roger D to see the no lid miniVAP technique. then, instead of a lid-less miniVAP, use a Crafty/Mighty with no cooling unit.

voila. nearly 100% convection

To aid cooling, it's a good idea to fellate the mouthpiece, as it were.

By moving it in and out your mouth, wetting it each time, you exploit the heat latency effect, as the liquid water turns to gas (steam), whence it rises off the mouthpiece.

The effect is quite significant (and indeed serves the basis for all air-conditioning units).

I had to mail s&b about the new red o rings:

Hello Adam,

thank you for your message.

The red O-rings were from a different batch. Despite the color, there is no difference between the red O-Rings and the blue ones. They do not differ in quality or material.

We hope this reply is of assistance to you. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Kind regards,

I think you could buy the flexicone accessory from Minivap to leave on your water tool. The flexicone, screen, plus basket is how it is used with MINIVAP. I assume instead of using the minivap lidless, u can use the crafty/mighty without the cooling unit. But you need a flexicone (inexpensive other than possibly shipping). Is that correct kimura? I would like to give it a try to compare the minivap with the mighty.

that's correct. you need a flexicone and basket to use the minivap/crafty/mighty this way.

You just reminded me of a former co-worker who used to intensely fellate his cigars. I threw up a little bit.

@scottg402 and @kimura, many thanks for the tips! Works perfectly! I have to say, though, I'm really enjoying the stock setup. I'll have to see what cleaning and maintenance is like with stock, though. That seems like another obvious advantage to using the basket.

The small basket is correct, but I think you want the flexiCONE, not the flexitube (though the flexitube will work, too, if you trim the tube). Like this:

http://www.minivap.com/usa/accessories/kit-flexicone-155.html

You don't use it with the mouthpiece at all. The basket connects with the flexicone, which you then place in your water tool. When you're ready to take a hit, you just touch the Crafty to the flexicone/basket like you would a lighter.

I have the miniVAP small baskets, and I tried it a couple of times, but I don't get much vapour so I don't use it.
