Core 2.0 - Divine Tribe/SZ Crossing

Hi folks,

Been a minute since I've posted to this thread. I had a second and thought I'd add a few updates. Amazingly, I still have not needed to buy a Core 2 of any kind. My highly modified Core 1 is still going strong, with the battery still holding a charge through multiple sessions. I use the damn thing every day and only need to charge it every 2 weeks or so.

Anyway, they now have a 2.1 version that includes a non-rebuildable V5 cup. Not quite sure how this is an upgrade from the regular V5 Core cup, and there is a 2.2 version where the lip of the ceramic cup is a smidge taller than the metal housing. This allows you to wipe your dabber off on the edge of the cup without getting concentrate in between the cup and the housing.

On DT's discord, there is some talk of a Core 3 on the horizon, Not quite sure of all the upgrades, but one thing they were discussing is a switch to Replaceable 18650's! That would be one hell of an upgrade! I will update if I hear anything new.

Finally, for those looking for new glass options. There have been a number of recyclers that have become available on DT's website. Besides the recyclers, there is a new cone shape that mimics the Peak.

and on other sites, such as HVT and discountenails.com, such as these
I really like the larger version here. The cost is quite reasonable, but I do hear that it adds some height and weight to the overall footprint. I might be pretty happy with my older flat top perc design for now.

So there you go. I'll end with a somewhat recent review of the Core 2 by Cewpins. He certainly vapes a lot and has a lot of positive feedback on the Core. Be well!
Any updates regarding Core 3 rumors?
I'm considering picking up the Core 2.1 (or 2.2?) for my first e-rig.

They said possible production is about 6 months away if all goes well. They are still in design phase.

For now, you can't go wrong with a Core 2. Anything as good will probably cost more. I don't really know what the 2.2 gets you over the 2.1 The 2.2 V5 is not rebuildable which I would think is not as good, but I haven't really researched it enough.

Matt should give some of his long time customers a few sneak peeks at those designs. :)

Sometimes it's hard to catch his IG reels/stories to catch a glimpse when he does publish those sneak peeks of the past.

Thanks for the update.
I'll probably go with the 2.x then.
I was under the impression that neither the 2.1 or 2.2 atomizers are rebuildable. Is that incorrect?
Not totally clear on the differences myself. But the 2.1 version is much cheaper for me up here in Canada so I'll probably just go with that.

Honestly, I'm not sure on the 2.1 and 2.2 thing. If you go into the website, you can check in the discord. It looks like what Matt is selling now is a Core 2 with a rebuildable V5 heater which he calls the nicedreamz? It must be the rebuildable style because the pictures have the allen screws on the posts so you can swap out heaters, and he is also selling heater cups to swap out for that V5 unit.

I will say that I eventually gave up on making sure the whole cup is white and clean, inside and out. I was taking the V5 apart so I could try and clean the chazz on the outside of the cups, and in the process causing problems for myself. The only times I've had to replace a cracked cup is when I tried to remove and clean them perfectly. I get by for months by just swabbing out the cup with a dry qtip and iso cleaning the bubbler every few days. As long as you swab out the cup right after using when it's still hot you can keep the inside perfectly white and clean. When it starts looking like reclaim is getting the best of the bowl area, I will do a more thorough cleaning (once every few months), which is unscrew the V5 and plop the whole thing in iso along with the carb cap, then swab out the screw in chamber area with iso. I then rinse and shake the V5 to get the excess water out, and dry what I can.

Overall, it just doesn't get that dirty for me as long as I swab after each session and iso the bubbler regularly. I use smaller dabs and don't overload it. If I was a big blob dab guy I'd be focused more on banger dabs than erigs.

In terms of bubbler, I did splurge on a few upgraded models. My fv right now is the flat top perc. I was eyeing some of those recyclers, but I don't think it improves the experience much more.

I've tried the Evolve Cricket, several pens, the Sai, the Qomo, the V4, the motar, and the lightning pen. Nope, not even close. I have considered the Proxy but didn't think it would be better. What does the Peak pro get you? Bluetooth and extra flashing lights for $250 more? The Core is still where it's at for me. And I use a TM2 for flower.

Thankyou10 will get you 10% off.

Yeah after doing a bit more research I think I'm going to go with the rebuildable heater.
Sounds like the main weakness with the Core currently is battery life?

I've really not had any concerns with the battery in my unit. I should say that my unit is actually a OG Core not a Core 2. Before the Core 2 came out, I upgraded the bubbler, carb cap and the V5, so it looks like a Core 2 but still uses the OG base. I haven't bought another because the battery is still going strong.

I don't know if you mean battery life between charges or overall life? I looked back at my orders and I bought the Core in April of 2021. I use it almost every day for 1-2 medium dab sessions. A single charge will last me more than a week, but I usually charge before it dies. There is no warning light so when it dies, it's sudden. It doesn't have pass through charging so you need to wait about 2 hours for a full charge, so I usually plug it in once a week.
I'm actually amazed at the life of my battery. Maybe some people got a shitty one?

Okay well that sounds fine to me. I saw a couple complaints about it on Reddit, but they didn't go into detail.
I'm fairly good about keeping things charged and I work from home so I doubt it would be much of an issue for me.
Thanks again!

One last thing, and this might speak to the battery life. I never run it in session mode. This is just me. I hate running any vape in session mode because I don't like to cook my weed when I'm not inhaling. Session mode would leave it on longer and would kill the battery sooner.

I use it on-demand and cold start dabs. I have mine set on the 3rd highest setting. This might vary in the Core 2. I load it and start it heating. Before I let it buzz to signal "up to temp", I start puffing until I start getting decent vapor. This will come before it buzzes. I then hit the button once to shut it off. Once it's at the temp I prefer I just press and hold the button just long enough to get the hit I want and then off the button. After about 3-4 hits I swab out with a qtip. It's an in and out process for me. If I want a slower session, I'll vape flower in my TM2.

Sorry to ramble, but I've been through a lot of vapes and many of them forgotten. I have a small handful that I'm pretty passionate about. The Core is funny because it's the only one that's chinese mass produced, but with Matt's help they just got it right.

Be well and enjoy.

Hey I have that recycler. You have to fill the water to where the glass from the intake tube meets the actual tube. You need a little more water and it will recycle I thought the same at first.
Hey I’m looking into buying this recycler also but I found some new ones that came out too so do you only have this recycler and or more for the core? Thanks hope to hear back from you soon!!

I only have the 1st 1 with the blue/green perc. I also have the hydra tube attachment which I had my glass blower make a 14mm female to tubing and then another piece that goes from tubing to 10mm male. I can use my core on all my 10 mm rigs and hydratubes.

I’m thinking of buying a Core. From what I understand the current model is the 2.1 which does not have a rebuildable coil, but the divine tribe site seems to only list the 2.0 with the NiceDteamz coil, which is rebuildable. Should I buy that? Also there seem to be a number of additional tops available. Do I want an additional top? Which? Is the standard one any good?

The 2.0 and 2.1 are basically the exact same coil, but the 2.0 can be rebuilt. So if a cup goes bad you can buy like a 3 pack pretty cheap and just keep rebuilding the heater because the usually last pretty long. They give you the tool to replace everything and a spare cup when you buy the kit. 2.1 battery is the exact same. So my vote says yes buy it off divine tribe. I have the recycler with blue matrix perc and it stacks bubbles and cools really well.

The recycler top you refer to - is that also from Divine tribe or aftermarket?

Hi @jbm . Matt at DT collaborated with Crossing (China) to improve the design of the Core for the second generation. The Core 2 is made by Crossing Tech. I'm not sure who actually makes the glass peices, but would guess they are all made in China somewhere.

I would recommend buying the Core from DT, because Matt has always provided a 1 year warranty on Cores sold through him. He offers free shipping and Thankyou10 will give you 10% off. I also agree that the rebuildable type is the best. The heater cups are cheap to buy through him and are also easy to replace. The only time I've had to replace the cups is when I try to do a deep cleaning by removing them, so I stopped. I found that the cups are easily kept clean by not overloading and swabbing with a dry q-tip after each session. When the whole atty gets junky I throw it in iso whole, rinse it well and heat off any excess moisture. I no longer care about making it look pretty and removing the Chaz that might build on the outside of the cup. Using this method, the heater cup that is currently in there has lasted a least a year and the inside stays perfectly clean.

DT doesn't always have every version of recycler or bubbler for the Core. Discountenails.com is another distributor and is reputable. They tend to have most of the recycler and bubbler designs in stock with free shipping.

I currently use and love the flat top perc matrix bubbler, although I also like the Stargazer style. Many reviews feel the larger recyclers are good at cooling, but not outstanding at the recycling action. Also, they say the larger recyclers can make the whole unit a little tippy. YMMV

I got a Core 2.1 the other day. It was my first time being prescribed concentrates, and I'm a fan of Crossing Technologies.

I've tried it for the first time. I put in a tiny shard-looking diamond, just smaller than a grain of rice... all I got was 2 draws of the thinnest, whispiest vapour I've experienced. This was with a hot start, and with a ruby pearl that I left in for the heat up period.

What am I likely to have done wrong? This stuff is way too expensive to waste grams figuring out how to use it.

Does this thing typically work better with hot starts, cold starts, or somewhere in between with manual mode? Is a quartz pearl significantly better? Should I leave that out of the chamber while heating it for a hot start?

So my favorite way to use the core is cold starts. I put the dab in set it on blue or green. Manually hold the button until the dab melts a little. Then double click it and wait for the vapor and start hitting it. I also recommend a 3mm pearl, that makes a huge difference. The carb cap is a spinner cap so it'll move the pearly nicely, but definitely need a small pearl. I leave the pearl in my coil all the time. If it's still not hitting right take your coil out and make sure everything is tight like the 510 pin.

Thank you so much, this is very helpful. I’ve been leaning towards buying from DT anyway, and I may grab the flat matrix top too. The rig is still balanced with that top?

Yes, no problem.

I also only do cold starts. Everyone has their technique and you need to find your sweet spot. I prefer a casual session spread over 3-5 hits. You get great flavor. This is not the device for 1-2 massive dab hits like with a real banger. That is a different experience.

I set it on the 3rd highest setting and double click to start it heating. Once it melts I start puffing on it every few seconds until I'm getting the clouds I want, then one click to shut it off. Now that it's right around the temp I want, I push and hold the button only during my hits so I don't overheat my cup.
I know folks love to use a pearl, I don't use one and get plenty from a session. Only need to load a rice grain size. Too much and you'll splatter all over the outside of the cup.

Thanks for the advice guys. I seem to be getting better results with cold starts.

If there's still melted liquid in the bottom of the chamber, should it still be producing vapor? Or is that just THC-less reclaim that's left?

You will have reclaim residue with most concentrates that needs to be swabbed. It's based on its composition , how much you loaded, and how many times you've hit it. I usually stop hitting it when it stops tasting good.

After spending the last few days with my VerdaVap, I had the chance for a proper play with my Core 2.1 last night and today. (The "testing phase" has left me high as balls...)

I found a couple of videos that Lee from TTB had done, including using his whip hose with the sidecar bubbler. So I'm now running it through the sidecar and the TTB, and if nothing else it's become a super visual experience. Especially when doing cold starts, and you're drawing and drawing and drawing and you get nothing, then all of a sudden it comes to life with a massive vapour cloud.

A couple of questions:
- my atomizer went brown (chazzed?) in one bowl. As in, I'd been using it a few times, cleaning it, successfully keeping it bright white - then it went from clean to brown in one use. This is on the "white" temperature (so there's still another setting to go!) Potential causes I can think of are 1) the balls weren't spinning, or 2) different material needs different temps, and maybe "white" was too hot for the "dry diamonds" (sans sauce) that I'm using. Are there other potential causes I need to be aware of? (Can your balls be too small? And can the bowl "overheat" with successive session mode activations? Cos I've been using it on the white heat setting all day.)

- with the increased visibility, it's obvious that the vapour kinds of comes and goes. The Core seams to heat up in the middle of the "session mode" cycle and produce a really great cloud, but then seems to cool down towards the end of the cycle. It times out, you double click it again, and once again you get a big cloud in the middle of the session. (Depending on how big a piece of concentrate I use, sometimes the same thing happens a 3rd time.) Does anyone else have this issue? Is it normal or is my Core heater doing something weird?

Thanks again everyone.

Only reason this has happened to a couple of my bowls is that I left the concentrates heating too long and scorched the bowl. When using small amounts of concentrate it is super easy to scorch
What are dry diamonds though? Like live resin diamonds but without the terp sauce (best part) being added back to it?

It could be just vapor building under the carb cap when waiting for heat up. The unit is also not temp controlled so it could still be heating up a bit after it buzzes and then be getting colder as you suck air into the unit so the end is less hot. You also have scorched the bowl so you havent gotten used to figuring out when to just q tip the bowl instead of trying to extract every last thc molecule (everyone scorches bowls when they first get it dw)
Saw Matt announce in his Reddit thread… NEW XL Heater cups, supposedly work fit in a Core:
Interesting but will this help at all other than maybe with some splash up? It just looks like a taller cup.
