Well, they arrived today and first impression was pretty fuckin' good, I must say...!

After I cleaned the 4-stack knot I turned the Old Head coil up to 700f and just placed it in there even tho there was a good 2mm gap all around... waited a few mins til everything settled, put on my heat resistant silicone fingertip booties, grabbed the knot and placed it on the big Goo Roo drop-down and dropped less than a grain of rice of live resin and pulled.... really nice easy flavorful hit! Very little residue so it burned off quickly using my antique pencil torch and propane canister... no need to waste the Big Shot butane on that... sweet "new" (to me) option! yes. i have a 4 hole and i prefer to use my quartz pi cap over a marble. cover the hole to spin and uncover to carb.

Thanks for sharing your experience/opinion. I have bubble caps, so I'll of course try them as you suggest.

My reasoning for getting the marble was going off the last time I used a carb cap that way (finger on the hole controlling the air), in which I found I preferred to keep my finger on the hole in the carb cap, and still just lift it up slightly if I wanted to let air in. I found I had better control on the airflow that way.

That being said, you may be completely correct and I wont like the marble. But in that case I still have several carb caps I can use

I got some moon rocks last week, and there was a lump of concentrate on the outside of a bud, so I peeled it off (not sure what type; it was dense and tar-like in consistency, but not terribly sticky).

This was also when I realized that it'd be a PITA to grind these buds, so... "The More You Know TM".

Anyway, I'm a noob to concentrates that aren't already in a vape cartridge, so what's the best way to vape this?

I've placed tiny patties of the stuff on top of herb when I use my Anvil or Dynavap, but I'm not sure if that's the most efficient way to get it in me.

I do have an iSpire Wand, so I technically have the banger that came with it available to use (though I've never used it yet); would that be a better way of consuming this stuff?

You can't use it in a banger, since it's a bud with hash and oil, yeah you'd need to smoke it or use a vape, but it's really tricky to find a vape that can actually use it... I tried them in BAK and they sucked, at least the quality probably of what I had, but that vape can use them so I don't know what else you have that could do it well though, maybe Anvil or DV

Ahh, OK, thanks for the info.

It definitely works in the Anvil, in that I can tell the vapor is denser and gets me more baked than without, so I guess I'll just keep keepin' on.

Use a razor blade to shave off slivers , just like some good hashish. I sandwich some using cotton in a Dynavap with good results .

I have the most noob of questions - I've never done concentrates/extracts before, it's never really been a thing on Australia's bm. It's becoming available medically though, and I'd really love to try it during Melbourne's impending winter when cold snaps are prone to seizing up my back.

What's the difference between diamonds and shatter? Google suggests Shatter is THC, while Diamonds are THC-A that turn to THC when heated... none of which makes a lot of sense to me.

Also, is there any difference in the impacts or the healthiness of a banger vs just sandwiching shatter in your vape? I guess you can get away with using less with the sandwich method?

Bonus question - if you sandwich concentrates among your flower, does it have any impact on the ABV and it's usability? And what are people's preferred vapes for extracts? (I'd still hope to be able to rely heavily on my TEDs.)

They're just names based on extraction method and resulting consistency, it depends on the diamonds and how they look and how they are advertised etc The price to know if they are THCA aka like distillate instead of more full spectrum live resin and rosin being the best, shatter is not really a term for anything other than consistency flat dried harder in wax paper (still melts to waxy sugary consistencies just like what you would get in a jar)

Banger is better because you need different temperatures and extraction methods to get the most out of concentrate like that, certain types might be better on top of herb but you typically need a higher temperature and the herb will get overcooked before the concentrate is fully extracted... Depends on the temperature you leave it at you could make edibles with concentrates if that is your question?

Probably doesn't extract as evenly as it would in a banger with some terp pearls, hey? (Science!)

Either organic, degummed hemp floss, organic cotton vape floss or rayon floss works well. VGoodiEZ sells small packets of the cotton and rayon floss or you can find larger packages from weaving suppliers on Etsy.

You just need a coil and banger/carb cap, I use the same PID controller to run my ball vapes, bangers and DNail Nimbus. Just make sure the coil uses the same pin configuration as your PID.
edit, you can also just drop the concentrate on top of your heated balls but that can get messy so I don't do it. I do just put blobs of rosin on top of herb loads (packed high to get the rosin closer to the heat) in the ball vape...quite often

Yes, that is what I used to use for my convection dabbing as I mentioned originally, I would set my Splinter Z to very high wattage, sticking a steel mesh puck pad into the very tip of 19/19 male to male WPA from RBT, for convection tabs through water this way... It would likely work even better with a baller vape, you can get some great taste although it takes a bit of lung power (regular dabbing with a banger is conduction so the vapor is made for you instead)

It's not really about even extraction in the sense of herbs being vaped, more like thorough extraction, the banger is pure conduction hotter with less effort, I didn't start messing around with pearls until later when I got a slurper and blender etc. I never used them with a regular bucket banger before, just a bubble carb cap, but I never use those anymore now that I have the funnel slurper blender thing, and even more I use the hot knot diamond skillets so no cap or pearls or anything is needed, really simple for hot start dabbing (it is like a quartz matrix you heat instead of a bucket)

In most EU countries, legal weed (CBD) products can contain a maximum of 0,3% THC. This rule applies for flower and for extracts & concentrates.

The flowers I get are usually @8-18% CBD & @ 0,2 % THC (according to the lab test).

How can they make concentrates that are rated @ 83% CBD and only 0,12% THC ? (Example : cannatonic wax from osmoz).

Unless they separate the THC from the extract, it should be in higher concentration... does someone knows the process of making these products ?

CBD hash shows ratios of CBD/THC that are much more plausible given it's only resin and can't be cleaned.

I'm trying to know if I need to avoid CBD extracts.

Yep, airtight, or actually just the fridge is fine too (should not make any actual difference), I always store all my dabs in the fridge now, regardless they can last for years this way
