Holy smokes this has been a long journey.
I remember ordering a Prophet and Calypso too, and around the exact same time as you, we had a laugh about it like 14 years ago!
My drop down matches my dark green Prophet, and I got the green Calypso, so it is lighter than yours. The drop down doesn’t match like yours does, and it still looks great in different colors! But you better believe that Prophet looks sweet all dark green.
Anyway, you are cleaning far too often for regular use. But that is fine if you prefer doing it. You aren’t in trouble.
And it does depend on how much you vape.
If you vape as often as I do, washing between or even changing water between bowls would be a high risk of breaking my glass! And it would slow me down!
Trust me, you can run it for hours straight between water changes without drastically changing flavor. But you aren’t exactly terp chasing at that rate either. Even when terp chasing and changing strains between bowls a water change might be overkill… but it does look extra fancy for friends.
Best practice? Calypso? Change water once a day unless it gets funky early. Bacteria isn’t a problem within 24 hours. Or like, ever really. Wash glass once or twice a week. Hot water often does the trick. Alcohol if you want perfection.
This bubble trap would take nicely to a patina. It would color. So a little buildup would change how it looks, and eventually make it look rather cool. But the flavor… anyway, it is glass made to take a little inside color, so it will always look great.
Let the ash catcher build up and wash half as often, as a little gunk helps it do its job.
Mouthpieces need a wipe on the outside more often than a cleaning on the inside. They get the least amount of buildup. So no need to clean them as often inside and out, again, unless you like to.
Prophet? Dry? 1-2 times a week with hot water max. With water? Follow Calypso instructions.
As for salt and alcohol? Every 2-3 cleanings. Will get everything out.
By all means, clean more often than that if you wish. Everyone is different. But as someone who has broken thousands of dollars worth of glass over the decades, keeping your glass too clean is one of the easiest ways to break it. It gets slick when you wash it.
No friend will ever complain your glass is too dirty following these tips. No friend will ever complain about the water flavor being off.
It is hard to get vapor glass too dirty if you clean it once a week or more. It should always look clean to a friend. Especially if you clean it for guests before they arrive.
Really though. So much glass breaks in the sink! Do not over clean. Better to have fancy glass than broken, clean fancy glass.
If you are chasing flavor by cleaning all the time, you will break your glass. Chase flavor by vaping. And find something to anchor your glass, so it won’t tip over and break. Trust me. Thousands of dollars of broken glass.
Aloha,
