I don't know if the V1 protege will ever come back. I suspect there will be a restock sometime of the V2. I'd probably look on Entexchange or the Classifieds here instead of waiting. I saw a green V1 on EE this morning.

Thanks! V2 has thicker glass right? Is that the only difference?

I believe that one is a v2? Or at least listed as one, I wouldn't be able to tell from looking.

Yeah no it was a complete redesign pretty much, similar style, but frit barrel inline instead of frit fountain disc inline, all around smaller (available in color, 18 and 14 mm)

So… like, what is the neatest CC piece? I got two that do specific jobs, but what are the showpieces? The ones that impress the friends? I mean, mind do already but you know what I mean.

My Vertex and Xeric just landed and I am stunned. Absolutely gorgeous in person. I wish I were a better photographer, especially shooting glass:

Unfortunately I have a bad cold right now so I haven't hit it yet. Maybe I will still take it for a test drive. Perhaps it will speed up my healing 😄.

Although I definitely use my other xeric (2.0) and my influxes the most.

Calypso or Vertex for me. The Vertex is an awesome general-purpose pipe with a great balance of flavor and cooling, wide-open airflow, and lots of sexy visual action. It's one of the most useful pieces I've had. The Calypso is kind of similar in terms of flavor, cooling and airflow. There are still air trap Calypsos available:

what about the influx? i have a calypso in hand and a prophet on the way and a few days ago was wondering what CC piece would be the coolest looking. I thought maybe that tornado inside might make it super cool to look at, but maybe thats because all of this stuff is new to me and I am easily impressed :D I have always admired the fumed vertex and would have ordered that if the bubble trap calypso's weren't available and i could have afforded both!

It's awesome, too. I think I'd go with the smaller one, maybe. It takes a good pull to get either one going but the smaller one less so. I'm a little older with lungs that have taken a beating, so it may not be an issue for you. That's really the only downside for me, its function is fantastic and the cooling's great, etc.

you know this is why i think i hopped on the CC train. I see function videos all over and barely understand how to interpret them. It seems like with the CC stuff the function of each piece is great so i can focus on what looks coolest :D

I agree, they really have placed function first and foremost, and the look an build are always top-notch too. I'm not sure who all is involved with the design process but I know some FCers have had critical input. There's a handful of other go-to functional pieces out there but the CC pipes are classics. I need to snag a Dante some day! ; )

well the build on my calypso is definitely not top notch, but it works great and its still my go to water piece! i remember a while back there was discussion on the prominent logo placement. i never had a problem with the cc logo until i got my calypso. the logo is printed exactly on the side of the piece which highlights how far off those little colored peanut things are from actually being on the side of the piece. i would never have noticed if not for the logo.

Ah. I'm gonna have to check mine out--I hadn't noticed that.

Honestly I'm not such a fan of the bubble trap or the fuming, partially for this reason, too unpredictable and I'm too picky so wouldn't want to risk not liking the way the color or pattern came out exactly...
i hear this, i purposely made myself not attached to getting some of the cooler bubble trap patterns and colors i have seen. in my glass adventure this year i have been finding that i like glass that has lots of little details.. raking, fuming, bubbles, etc. i often don't know what to ask for. In grad school I had a photography advisor who told me to always create pictures that take a while for the eyes to digest and that advice has served me well. As long as I can look at the glass and it takes a while to follow all the little details I am good!

Almost sold on the Vertex.

Uh… I have exactly THAT Calypso. Best glass piece I own. Just… it doesn’t do any neat water tricks. You know? The Vertex may fix that bugaboo.

Although I definitely use my other xeric (2.0) and my influxes the most.

So the Xeric is just a brilliant J-hook that stands? Isn’t the Prophet even cooler for that trick?

Another Vertex endorsement. Has me thinking.

Also… jerk! You always get the special colors! 😋

oh no, i am so sorry! wipe it from your mind if you can! i can be a little ocd sometimes. i loved mine until i noticed that and then i couldn't stop looking at it so i turn the calypso so the logo is away from me and just go back to loving it as is :D

If I wanted perfection, I would save money on something that isn’t hand blown. The perfect imperfection of CC glass is what has me sold.

Bubble trap is brilliant for its imperfections. Although I got a mouthpiece with a flaw… and it feels weird in my mouth. That makes my OCD sad.

How visually exciting it is depends on how high you fill it. I usually use it so that water is not rising up into the fab section, but it's awesome to fill it just a little more and get the water moving up there rather than just the vapor--it turns it into a recycler of sorts.

Yes, but the Prophet's a little clumsier to use by hand, it's better on the desktop. The Xeric is a more traditional j-hook in that regard, but you won't need to remove the bowl to lay it down, etc.

The Influx really interests me. Like, that is a water trick. I would love a CC piece that wows folks with the water. But my goodness the Vertex is easy on the eyes.

The Calypso’s pump and dump is kinda perfect for the smooth hits. But pump and dump isn’t really the coolest thing to watch.

Also, wondering why the Prophet only has a 14mm mouthpiece side? I would LOVE an 18mm option… but I do appreciate the OG draw.

It's a great pipe, I love it, but I wish I was younger me when I use it. ; )

I think it's my favorite of the CC glass.

yeah, I'm always grabbing this one, just about perfect. Probably my second favorite.

Third favorite and I'm not sure but it may have been to tighten it down a little for restriction? Idk. I think the modular MP was done primarily for shipping.
