Cloud Connoisseur Glass

thank you! what do you think makes the difference in the ones you like best? lots of water volume, lots of glass surface area etc? I had heard that the CC pieces were designed for dry so maybe they are too tight with water in them?

we vape the same way. I do one hit extractions until I can see clear. but the whole thing still just takes a few seconds compared to my dynavaps where I was sucking a golf ball through a hose from click to click with my lungs hurting for the second half
I think some of the CC are designed for dry. Like the prophet. Others like protégé and calypso are meant for water. I haven't used calypso yet, but I think I'll like it as I have other similar ish recyclers that I use to dab.

The sky lunar bubbler piece that I like best has a wide short can 75mm compared to 50mm I think for ones like the big league. Air volume is probably similar between them as the narrower piece is taller. Sky also has an excellent perk that stacks bubbles like crazy. The hit itself I don't find vastly superior in the sky compared to big league. It might be a bit cooler, but it's other things that really bring sky to my top. One, I never knew what a proper joint felt like. I can pick it up by it's removable mouthpiece give it a shake and it doesn't separate. It cost me $320 so I'm not picking it up by the mouthpiece, but it's nice to have some assurance if I forget or someone else picks it up "wrong". I also like shorter pieces as I'm always in my recliner when hitting. Between the 3, sky, saml, big league I honestly don't think I'd be able to tell them apart in a blind test except for the mouthpiece designs. I'd easily recommend all 3.

The protégé is definitely unique though. I also have the neutron on order from sky which is a rbr style rig. It has a splash guard built into the mouthpiece and if it works good I was considering having a custom lunar bubbler mouthpiece made with the splash guard. Because if I wasn't drinking water with the protégé I also think I'd really like it as it's the most unique piece I own. It might also have the best cooling of all my pieces, I just need to figure out the drink problem. This one I could identify in a blind use as the initial pull is much harder, but eases once the bubbles are flowing, and the perk is louder than the others.

Where are you filling to in the protege? I have never come close to taking a drink. Also is this a V1 or V2?
V2. Unless it's only like 1/16th of an inch over the perk I can end up drinking. At that level I don't think it's as smooth as with a bit more. About 1/4 inch above is much smoother, but risk drinking. Short pulls are fine, but longer ones once the water starts climbing up the swiss holes and can't fall back down quickly enough and it just keeps climbing all the way up the mouthpiece.

That's wild. Your water level is much lower than I typically do and I have never had a drink. I don't try to rip it hard but I definitely use the Swiss holes. I wonder if I can make it do that...

I've noticed with the screwball it produces vapor better if you hit it hard. So I'm for sure ripping it hard. Hard, steady and long rips. If I slow my draw I can keep water out of my mouth, but then I'm not really getting the hit I want. And having that worry that I have to draw right or drink isn't preferable. I also have the 18mm. Do you have the 14mm? 14 might reduce the flow enough to prevent or reduce this?

Yep, my V1 is 18mm and my V2 is 14mm. That could be the difference. Neither one has any chance of giving me a drink.

I do agree with you about the screwball. I have the original housing and it definitely prefers a hard rip.

The Calypso is designed for heavies and ball vapes. It is pretty small. Very open draw. Good filtration. And you can preorder. And you can connect a whip like a hookah.

I’d throw caution to preorders. My June preorder still sits in processing and undelivered. I’ve now asked for a refund.

That probably means it's likely to arrive with the other shipments any day now, delayed from the holidays even more? So I think it would actually be the best time to pre-order a calypso right now, especially if someone else is asking for a refund, there will be extra and the wait won't be nearly as long... :2c:

The website needs serious work, it’s confusing and slipshod.

Yeah I can apologize for that a bit because I had volunteered to be help update all the copy to describe better, but too many things came up and I haven't had a chance to get in there yet... New Year resolution I will! Feel free to let me know anything in particular (not formatting layout though) although my plan was to go through everything anyway

Not sure if the discord link has been updated, but I had to email idb to get a working link. Seeing as a lot of the updates seem to be posted there instead of the website currently, that'd probably be a good quick update.

Yeah unfortunately I think the discord link needs to be updated on the regular as they expire so definitely a good suggestion!

I also pre ordered in June, got a shipment notice 24 December it’s with customs now, in the Netherlands. So I’ll be getting it pretty soon.

you can make persistent discord links but the default ones expire. if you need some help maybe I can pitch in. I was a web dev and a computer scientist in a previous life

Awww man, that's exactly what my wallet didn't need to hear T_T

The last time I bought gear was 6-7 years ago and this year is the big update to modern tech! I actually switched from 18mm to 14mm as part of all of that. I see the Calypso is available fumed in 18mm and clear in 14mm. Would you recommend one size over the other? I like the fuming on the 18 and have a reducer although my ocd doesn't like to use it

I run straight 18mm and it is remarkably open and smooth. Quick hits. This piece is so awesome. Got the green bubble trap with opal and both mouthpieces matching. That may have been a special edition color.

Fumed is cool. Dark green is mostly blue. I would rename it but pictures are fairly accurate for coloration.

I bet it could work with 14mm too. But I have no experience with it.

I am new here! are prophets available regularly? How long ago did you place your preorder?
I am not very aware of how things go but it seems @iDRINKBLEACH makes batches of them, that you can preorder. This specific batch was a bit exceptional since the preorder was in May and was supposed to be delivered in August, but things don’t always go as expected. I guess usual wait time isn’t that long, but I don’t think batches of these glass pieces happen very often. Maybe someone will add some precision to ou answer ?

There is no regularly, someday there will be plenty of regular stock in the store for purchase, still new company growing pains however. There haven't even been that many production runs of anything yet really (this year was the first time we had a large pre-order of so many products available at once)

oh wow, I didn't realize how new their glass offerings are. I suppose I actually have no idea how long the company has been around. But I feel the respect that the community has for this company so now I want some too :D

Yeah it is a young company built from our community, you can chart the whole history here in this thread! Big things to come, should be another big year for CC :tup:

Hope this year is gonna be better, eyeing CC’s glass for a while but it seems like there is nothing in stock, communication could be better imo.
Happy my Calypso is finally on the way.

I can happily report since receiving my Calypso last week, it works just like I had hoped.

Quite small. Like, the same footprint as a Prophet.

The pump and dump isn’t as fancy as some of the water tricks we see with other CC pieces. But it is still mesmerizing to watch the water move and fill the second chamber with bubbles. Hits come fast and easy, and get the right amount of filtration and cooling without giving the vapor enough time and space to blossom and become harsh.

An absolutely brilliant piece to use with a whip. It is taking my Goo Roo out of circulation as my primary hookah.

Bigger is not always better. With vapor it is best to get your hit quickly, it keeps hits as smooth as possible.

Both mouthpieces are excellent and I struggle to pick a favorite. I switch between both and my Goo Roo mouthpiece depending on where it is sitting, as different mouthpieces are best ergonomically in certain situations.

And the opal is well placed and a worthwhile upgrade if you like eye candy.

No clue if it is their best piece, but as a quick and potent delivery system for ball vapes, it is the best and most versatile I have in my collection.

Gotta be careful not to review things the day I get them, as everything hits better when brand new and my lungs are not used to it. But after a week, the Calypso holds up. It truly is everything I hoped it would be.

On the road today with my Zeal and Calypso. Compact. Travels well. Usually go with my metal bong for trips but it was too hard to give up the Calypso for a few days!

They should just make the opal stock and build it into the price. Can’t imagine a Calypso without one. It is kinda the signature.

Or at least something with the marble, every time. Every batch. It has a marble. Use it!

Also, fumed pieces should be clear in the middle, like the bubble trap. Exceptional coloration. It is all about the opal.
