Yeah I floated that idea, but the goal was not just having the logo, but making it prominent so people would see it in photos and videos etc. to be truly promotional and protect the proprietary designs even more, as is of course his prerogative, necessary evil, reasonable enough logic, but yeah I'm not sure if there will be future one off or runs without logo again ever, so those could increase in value on the aftermarket...

Protégé v2 arrived last night. Calypso pre-order still in processing. I have a fairly decent collection of different bongs and recyclers and initial impressions are this thing is unlike any other bong I've used. Probably due to the fritted inline, as I don't have anything fritted. Initial pull is hard until the air bubbles start moving through the frit and then feels more normal. It's also loud, reminding me of my honeycomb. It's very smooth though. For the screwball I have a SAML straight fab and the big league bubbler from vapvana. Both of those hit pretty similar, but I'm getting much darker abv after a single hit on the protégé then my old bongs. Which makes me think I'm getting bigger longer hits now because this is so smooth.

My 14mm Calypso arrived finally. Was well packaged. I like it. Pull is effortless, and I'm using it with a TM2 and a Nano NXT mostly. It gives a nice dark ABV and it also pulls straight down the middle of my stems. It tastes good and features lots of bubbles. It's easy to hold for cleaning too.

I go 50/50 on logos. Some can be well done and some just suck. I really like this one. It is not obtrusive, plus it feels nice to the touch and it adds a little something positive to it. It's elegant.

With the stock mouth the vape is really close to my face but due to its 14mm top it's easy to use almost anything with it so I made a silicone whip.

I think it's a good buy, and now of course I want one in 18 and maybe another pipe of theirs.

Nice! Presuming you got the bent neck higher flow? Instead of the full laid-back slant neck model then (both are available as optional stock mouthpieces for Calypso)

@Sparkpug i feel your pain, I have a pink straight catch from CC that is gorgeous, but if I use that with Calypso and Epitome, the head ends up about 1.5” from my face 😂

Luckily I had one of CC’s old style dropdowns, it’s a really tight design that doesn’t work with a lot of glass (hence the remodel), but it’s perfect for Calypso!

Yeah, got the high airflow mouth.

Earlier I was going to post but got sidetracked. I ended up linking both pipes together by taking a piece of tubing and connecting it to an angled 18mm tubing adapter for the mouth of the Influx, then I pushed the other end over the 10mm side of a 10/14 male/male adapter to put into the Calypso, essentially turning the Influx into an herb (aka ash) catcher. It still has an easy pull. It remains extremely cool too. I'm sick at the moment and can't quite taste anything (smell seems fine but everything tastes dull or muted) so that might be a casualty but I don't know.

At 6.5 on my Nano, 2 pulls with a single 50mg scoop gives a subjectively nice high.

Still waiting. Got the pre order notification weeks ago. This is getting silly. Half a year wait.

But the glass is so good.

My Prophet is legendary.

Still… I mean? Come on.

After a week of ownership and testing I have found that linking the Influx to the Calypso is the way to go. It's super easy to pull through both, unlike most of the other linked setups I've tried (essentially all the pipes I own have been linked together at some point. I have a huge fittings collection and always have ideas for funky configs.)

Something interesting: despite being first in the loop, the Influx stays cleaner longer. I was running an Envy Glass Pop Rocks frit UFO style perc on my Influx before and both got super dirty super fast. Gunk build-up everywhere. With that gone and the Calypso as the pipe I draw from and the Influx as the one the Nano is on, gunk seems to build up on the top of the drain tube from the water line to the top of the curve on the Calypso after a few days. The Influx stays clean for an entire weak, then gunk appears on the top of its drain tube and walls closest to it. It became slightly cloudy above the water line on Thursday, but visible gunk only appeared today. There's no bits in my water either. Previous setup would fill with little bits of flower.

Very happy with my purchase.

Nice, glad you are enjoying, interesting setup, it makes sense though, recyclers do this well, there are a lot of crazy recyclers that have two recyclers essentially in one piece, or more lol so that is kind of what you have set up on your own with the two separate pieces, and it makes sense that Calypso is showing more dirtiness because it has more function with the extra tubes, typical of pump and dump in my experience, compared to the single uptake vortex style cycler, you might try reversing them and see if anything changes? Because I'm curious if it is simply that, or that the second piece will always be the dirtier with recycler function...

Reversing them does not work as well. It was the first way I tried running it because usually the smaller one goes first but the draw is harder. It also causes the Influx to not work right unless it's mega filled but that causes a massive amount of back flow and water gets sucked into the connecting tube. Current setup has both firing like they should and while the Calypso's water is pulled to the top, it doesn't get pulled into the tube.

I took the Calypso off the loop and cleaned it yesterday, today it was the Influx's turn. There are no bits of flower in either pipe. Cleaning was a breeze.

I was talking to the guy at Lid Glsss about having him make me a custom 18mm triple Lidcycler but I don't think I really need it anymore. Well, I never "needed" it...

I've been waiting over a year and a half for a custom heady glass piece from a US artist so it's all relative lol nobody forced into it

Wut?

“lol”

lol?

Come on now.

Let’s be real. This glass is conspicuously late. You have made evolving excuses on behalf of the vendor this whole time.

That isn’t necessary.

The wait is simply frustrating. And your evolving excuses have yet to prove true for ME.

@FlimsyKnuckle thank you for the reminder.

Been another month since my order was moved to processing.. This was after I reached out. We’re into 7+ months since payment now.

Really weird thing is that I believe that I have consulted with and ordered 2 separate custom pieces from the same DHGATE manufacturer in this timeframe. And believe it or not but I received via mail after payment with none of the excuses that have been provided. Walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it’s probably a duck. 🦆

Just Pre-ordered the Pink Calypso 18mm as my first pure vape rig. I see some people are waiting a long time for their CC pre-orders. Really excited to get it, and don't mind being patient. Just want a ball park time line. Anyone know how long I should be expected to wait? Like a month?

It seems like we’re in a lull, lots of stuff waiting to ship; likely iDB is waiting for the stuff to ship to him. It’s generally not long, but each project seems to be more and more demanding…quality takes time!

I got frustrated with the “drop” production cycle the first year I was vaping, but if you want any of the really good stuff in this sphere, and especially if you don’t want to take a mortgage to get the piece, waiting is usually part of the price.

Thank you for the reply. Been using the Mighty + for two years and decided to finally step it up. Went with the new Vapvana Ace and wanted a complementary piece of glass. CC honestly seems like the best bang for the buck. I’m assuming it’s made in China due to its price, but I’ve heard nothing but great things about CC’s glass. Also, any small business trying to make a living gets my money.

It’s engraved; subtly and beautifully. If it were a distasteful logo or poorly executed it might bother me, but I think it enhances the look of the piece.

Calypso is a ripper! I love sipping on Protégé, and Dante fits right between them. Now to go try the Prophet I finally scored on a maiden run with TA3!

I got a feeling, that it’s gonna be a good good night!

ETA: I used Epitome on a CH Matrix bowl for the maiden run on Calypso, I figured it would be nice and open and the Matrix is my deepest bowl. Nearly cleared it in one rip, normally I get a cleanup hit that is light green in the Matrix!
So the Protege has less chug to it than the Calypso? I was looking to switch to a piece with more resistance than what I'm currently using but it seems you're saying the Calypso does that job better

For me that would be Protege, that’s why I say sipper. Its frit perc is restrictive but incredibly smooth; once you get it going it almost feels like it powers itself at a low rumble. I keep my water just above the perc so the bubbles don’t climb into the Swiss section. It’s also very tasty in my experience.

Calypso is a ripper because it’s wide open, you can hammer it and it will just work faster. Lots of diffusion from the gridded perc, the pump adds in splashing, making vapor super cool. But in my experience that mutes the flavor a touch.

This is pretty accurate in my experience. The Calypso is super effortless to use. The flavor is a tad muted when used on its own or with my dual setup -I use the dual setup 100% of the time now. For cooling it is unbeatable and it just feels nice to draw from.
