Cheap High Quality Bubbler

The bases are exactly the same for mine

How do You like the New egg Fred? Your experience with glass supersedes mine greatly. What do you feel could've been improved?

I'm no eggspert, I've only tried these 2 Kathy eggs, but I really do like this proper egg style one quite a bit.

There's a few minor aesthetic things I'd change, but it mainly needs more or better bracing for the downstem... (and for the love of god anything but a 14mm Male joint...)

I heard a slight glass scraping on glass sound when I first put my banger on it.
I assumed it was something in the joint, but when I looked closer I realized that the bracing weld on my egg was broken.

The next time I tried to put the banger on there the downstem snapped off :(
I've contacted Kathy to see about getting a replacement but I know its CNY so I'll probably have to wait a bit for a response...

Also as with most of these rigs from dhgate, I would really like a larger one...

I would prefer 18mm female on all my pieces because I'd rather use a reducer and I'm a EVO/ Cloud guy. Yet outside that the 18 female allows better airflow. Also I'd love a bigger version of this piece. I agree with all your assessments especially the comparison to the previous egg

FC-187 Can OD = 66mm
GB-187-S Can OD = 60mm
(wow, I knew it was smaller, but 5mm is a small difference!)

FC-187 Sidearm Tube - 26mm
GB-187-S Sidearm Tube - 20.25mm

Really the only noticeable difference is the glass thickness. The FC-187 is noticeably thicker glass.

Still liking the GB-187-S. I can see why people like this series - @flotntoke - you need one in your collection! :brow:

I just realized that these minor diameter differences could be more significant to the volume of the vessel because of all those square pies. Mmmmmmm....... Pie.

Just comparing area of the circle:

66mm diameyer= 3421 square mm
60mm diameter = 2827 square mm

That's a 23% difference in volume assuming the glass thickness and height are the identical.

Very true, though your % may be off slightly as I estimate the glass is about 1 mm thicker on the FC-187

To be honest, I like the smaller volume for my Nano. For vaporizing, it's nice, though I'm starting to think the GB-187-S might not be the best piece for dabbing (fortunately I don't dab, so it works great for me)

Thanks, Man! Just what I needed. Finally have my GAS somewhat under control and now I have to deal with peer pressure, too! So guess now I'm up to 2 new pieces with end of CNY. D-cylcer desire has been overwhelming, and now this one. Seriously, thanks for the tip. Have been hemming and hawing on this one, and just as well. Think I'm going to gift the FC-187 V1 to a combusting friend. Just taking up precious glass shelf space here. But, still think I have been pretty lucky. Still love every other Chinese piece I have - including ashcatchcers on the rare occasion I use them.

Couldn't agree more! Wish all were 18mm females! Biggest reason I've held off on the D-cylcer as long as I have. Eh.... adapters are the cheapest glass of all, right?

I have not been on a lot of glass threads because I am scared to catch GAS. I need recommendation for using vapes like the minivap, enano, and solo. The three I hear the most about is d020, FC-187 v2, and gb-187. I probably wouldn't tell the difference if I was blindfolded (don't have much experience with glass). If you recommend one for using vaporizers (taste more important than diffusion, but still want it smooth), which one would it be? If you recommend one for using an enail, which one would you recommend? I bet you hear this question a lot and everyone has their preferences.

Well I guess the D-020 could be called old school Chinees style... Their first successful entry into the glass market?

Then there was the go...which kind of had its little hick ups along the way, quickly followed by the fc-187 which suffered from the same growing pains.

But the fc-187 v2 for now seems to tick all the boxes...

And for Enail I would advice looking into the famous fc-710 or the d-cycler...

Appreciate the valuable insight.

Like a stroll down memory lane! FWIW The honeycomb ash catcher from Ali express kicked off the "new and improved China glass era". Quickly followed by the discovery of Ms. Kathy on AliEx and her honeycomb bubbler. These two really got the ball rolling and a few heads turning. @jambandphan03 disclosed DHgate/Sunshine Store and Kathy moved there and it's been on like Donkey Kong ever since! Those were some dark days before the light!:)

8.54 pm here ;)

Are you just referring to the colors?
I held the bases up against each other and they are literally the same diameter :hmm:
Lol, yup the colors. I wish I could wake up to two eggs like that every morning! I'm settling for two sunny side up.

The D020 is very nice and super cheap, but it is pretty small. Some like this (I still do sometimes), but seems most like a bit more volume. Think D020-D is still available. It is a bit bigger.

I still love a sidecar mouthpiece with a dewar joint for a standard daily bubbler. Don't get hung up about the terminology, and no need to. Check @Ratchett 's pictures of the FC-187 and GB-187 S next to each other on previous page. They both have each.

Sidecar just means mouthpiece comes out off to the side instead of straight from can. I like this for 2 major reasons. Usually allows you to see the perc a bit better, and control your draw. Slower draw (minimal bubbling) usually gives more flavor with these type percs. Sidecar also keeps vape from being right in your face with the vaporizors you mentioned. With offset sidecar mouthpiece, you'll be hitting it from off to the side a bit so your vape won't be a couple inches right in front of your nose.

Dewar is just the type of recessed joint that is usually right in top center of the can. This is good with the vapes you mention for stability (weight of vape is centered and not going to tip anything like other stems that come off from side of can).

I don't own the FC-187 V2 (and not really a fan of the V1 I do have), but V2 took care of the issues I have with V1 (high perc more than anything). My GB-187 is great and gets much use. Only thing I would change about it is to have a sidecar mouthpiece. And, will probably be ordering the newer S version to pick up that feature.

Be aware that it is now Chinese New Year. The whole country pretty much shuts down for a few weeks, so probably not the best time to order. You'll see people refer to it here as CNY. This should all be over around the end of the month. Am sure you can order now, but don't think anything will be moving forward there for a couple more weeks. So, first week of March may be better time to order. I'll probably order last week of Feb in hopes that things will be packed and ready to ship once everyone gets back to work over there. Have a feeling our favorite vendors will be chomping at the bit to get things moving as quickly as they can. They certainly seem to appreciate our business and our $!!

This might look noob but can someone confirm what size joints the FC-710 has. It doesn't specify on the listing. Im about to order it but I want to add a dropdown not sure if I need 14 or 18. Thanks in advance.

It has a 14mm male joint. I opted for a dropdown from SSS on @DieHard 's advice that it moves the nail further from your face. It also helps making reclaim less messy!

Imo, if the D020 is too much percolation, you aren't going to find anything with a 18mm female joint that diffuses less. You need to go smaller, like 14 or 10mm.

Hopefully someone proves me wrong, :D

What about an 18mm J-hook with 30mL of water in the neck? You can't get any more simple than a single natural perc! Talk about flavor towwnnnnnnnnn

Toss an inline AC on it, and you've got a rig that stands up by itself (you could alternate between water in the AC and water in the hook depending on how much diffusion you want)
