Ok, I've been watching for long enough, I've gotta get some more cheap china glass in my collection.

I'm def gonna get one of those sidecar matrix ones (D020-W?)
And the original D020.

The D020-D seems too similar to my ion matrix to be a worthwhile purchase (if they put the better matrix in there ill grab one straight away though :D), but if the W impresses me, I might end up grabbing a D or 2 for mates :tup:

So is sunshine store on dhgate the only place to get em?

I was also thinking of getting the fritted a/c.
I'm hoping to get all 3 for $100 or less including shipping to Australia...

Anyone got any suggestions for the best way for me to go about buying them?

Yes I'm on that line too about nagging too much, but one thing I have learned in the many years been in business :myday: is that you will always do more for trickier, naggier customer, it is a shame but that is how it all work, so the patient client is often placed on the bag burner as too much attention is placed on the tricky customer to get them of your back, shame but that is often how it goes...

Anyway at this stage I will give it some patient thinking...

And better put these other 12 other designs i'd prepared earlier in the draw for now...

edit: @ Frederick McGuire any chance you could measure your Ion bottom to top of the can per chance, we still missing this info to compare to the new D020s?

I haven't placed an order yet, but Mike gave me a quote on like 5 pieces (plus a lot of little bits) that was US$74 for shipping to Australia by EMS (the DHGate cart originally quoted $220+ for the same order, but that doesn't combine shipping). Just cart everything you want, place an order, don't pay for it, and send a message to Mike asking for a Quote to ship the lot. You can probably even haggle a bit on the number he comes back with, but I haven't as yet.

He said he can only do EMS to Australia as China Air Post won't ship articles over 2kg, but then how does he use China Air Post to the US? They have different rules by destination or something?

In the Mobius thread it was established that Ions vary in height over a range of an inch or so, I think it was ~5.5" to ~6.5" can height range, IIRC. Mouthpiece heights and flare diameter also vary by a similar percentage range. I think even the base diameters vary as they're turned by hand also. The only constants are can diameter and mouthpiece tube diameter, which are fixed because those tubes are manufactured glass, not blown.

I also had the showerhead of my beaker tube break off, just above it the ice notches are located so now I've got a busted bong that's halfway useful and I'm not trying to inhale through it because of the broken glass. :argh::argh::argh:

So, the D020 IS a nice little bubbler. It arrived quickly (8 days) and works quite well given the small amount of water it displaces, but it is too small for my everyday use. With the size and shape of the HA, it ends up being right in my face and rests on my forehead. I can see how it would be great for a Nano or for desktop use, but I need something larger.

Well there we have it. So it appears he makes them himself (or at least his own manufacturer does).

So what is the email of the perc supplier itself, do THEY need ideas ???? don't worry guys I'll leave it at this.

But its nice to see that he is open and happy to ideas.

Sounds a bit strange, though, because if he's making these pieces himself, then we would also assume that means he makes the YQ-42, and if so surely he already has access to the perc we asked for since he can't make the YQ-42 without it. Heck, the fact that he does assembly "himself" should make what we asked for easier, not harder. We didn't ask him to source or make some new perc, oli made a pic that clearly showed it came from one of his existing pieces, so either he didn't recognise his own stock or there's still a bit of a language barrier going on here. Maybe he's only using "down" perks for this application, already attached to a stem and dewar joint? The Faketrix looked like a pre-fab "up" type. It could be modded into a down but you'd still have to plug the bottom, cut the top, cut a stem to custom length and weld on a dewar joint, which is a lot of extra work per unit.

Oh well, see if you can get him to send you photos of the perks he can use, and we could have a poll thread on them or something and link him to the results. If there's a lot of votes for a clear winner it'll probably inpire him to get it made...

I ordered a DO20 and 5 Ti Dabbers and they could not combine shipping charges. He said "All of my shipping charges are based on weight and cannot be combined.":shrug::hmm::disgust: Still $57 total isn't bad.

Sheesh, looks like we need a "D020 anticipation" thread. I ordered my D020-D on the 12th, my tracking has had the "origin post is preparing package" message from Hangzhou since the 17th, so I must have been on the slow boat. I'm going to bet it shows up on USPS tracking and then very soon after on my doorstep, this pattern has happened before....nothing, nothing, no update and then bam, delivered.

I sure hope so anyways.

This is what I'm afraid of. But if the build quality improves with their experience, I'd be happy to pay a bit more.

Nice, the -T and the TD-321 are on my radar too. I really like the WP-010 and almost ordered the TD-321, looks much more like the Frothilator, just afraid it might be too small.

For the newcomers to the game, like myself, it sure would be nice if there was a picture chart of all their glass. All the number/letter designations and subtle variations are a bit rough to keep up with.:shrug:
