Again, I am still just anticipating my D020, but given what I am reading I think that if I do decide to get another piece I think it will be something a little larger than the D020 series. The ideas in these pieces are great, but it may make more sense for me to go with something that has more volume. Sadly there are no LHS's around here so I can't really compare and contrast options. My best bet is to go by recommendations. And avoiding a serious case of GAS is a high priority for me... ;)

In the mean time I have to find a new downstem for this:

Pull it out, measure it and then get a GonG and jam it in there with the grommet around it.

Mike replied and said it would take him a while, so I don't think bugging him more would be productive. :whip: Maybe wait a month or two and recontact him to make sure it doesn't fall off his radar. I don't think it's like petitioning city hall. And you never know what might come out of the store in the meanwhile, I really like the direction it's going naturally as well. :D

The perfect volume is such a hard thing to find. Even the slightest difference in height or bore of a piece can really make a difference. The D020D is just about perfect, but I'm betting you will still love the D020.

Who knew it would be a cheap $33 bubbler from China that would hit these points before many of the american glass blowers. And this was posted almost 2 years ago.

You "noobies" to glass don't know how well you have it right now, :D :lol:

There is no GG connecter, it is just simple glass with a flare at the end that had a slide bowl. The whole stem is 3 7/8" end to end. The flare is 3/4". I think a GG connection is 7/8" (at least on the bowls that just came with my D020) so I should add about 1/8". I think I can get another 1/8" closer to the bong wall to get as far into the water as I can without being too close to the wall. So, ideal would be 4 1/8" but probably what would be available would be 4". Does my logic sound right?

Any recommendations on the best diffuser type? I'm thinking showerhead.

I completely get that. The stem I have (besides being cracked) has a plain end which doesn't diffuse at all. There appear to be a lot of choices to diffuse that end.

I read what you said but I must not have understood it. I would love to get the rubber out of the path but I'm not sure how and your description of how (if that was what it was) went over my head,

The interior measurement on the grommet is 14mm

My D020-W came in today. Damn that shipping was fast!

First impressions: its bigger than I expected. And thicker. (Thats what she said). Joking aside I am pretty impressed with it thus far. I'll see about maybe getting some pics up later. Thanks again!

What a great combo!!! Both bubs are great, my W is a bit smaller can height than the D. The bigger base and volume is a nice improvement from the D020, IMO. The D has a pull very similar to the D020, however the W is different, and I like it! The W has a restriction that I like and no need for an additional downstem, like I use in my D020. I also prefer the sidecar style mouthpiece for a more flavorful extraction. The Maria's are a very nice touch on this piece. They are all winners in my book and they just keep getting better and better!

He made a custom 6 slit DS with 14mm GonG female( to my specs) very cheap, even included the grommet. Pick one on his site and put your desired length ( also include hole diameter), in the comments. Also ask for 10% off for FC discount. :tup:

Who else do you all like for glass accessories (downstem in particular) other than GBD? They are going to cost too much.

I check the DHGATE tracking until it arrives in the US, then I check it on USPS. Have you already tried both?
