CCA Liger banger V3.0

20mm + Sapphire finally arrived today, only a day late. Started around 500 with the Tsunami, great full flavor dabs. I'm getting some splashing on the cap and side walls though, some even dripped down behind the insert. I didn't do a larger than normal dab, and I'm coming from the 16mm. Maybe it is the tight suction of the cap?

I've got the Hurricane and Chad Bro Bubble to try when I get home. I'm going to need to give it a clean though already! Any tips on cleaning the Sapphire insert?

Ive read on this thread and now do it myself. Simply soak it in distilled water for 30 mins and use qtips to whip off excess carbon. works for me great! At room temp.

Yeah and really 99% of the carbon comes off instantly. I just drop in the distilled water and wait 20-30 seconds before swabbing out. If I put more distilled water in and soak longer there is never any more carbon that comes off and the insert looks brand new.

For those interested in my caps for the 30mm I’ve just been waiting on feedback from a couple of testers. Feedback is great and they seem to love them. I’m charging 40$ each for the style pictured in comments on the last page. Hmu if interested.

Just order one from him. He charge $45 shipped. Guess the $5 is for shipping. Or at least I hope so and not just getting up charged. Ill update yall when this piece arrives. Im excited to get rid of the metal sticking hurricane cap that holds my sapphire insert hostage!

I have and will be going to a bunch of headshops this week looking for a nano rig and trying to find any glass caps that will fit this 30mm beast! I really want a mushroom or bubble cap design but so far, everything either falls in the Liger or doesnt completely seal the liger.

Edit

BTW, @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd was easy to work with and very quick at replying.

Do u notice a diff between your sic and obsidian?
I ran my new Obsidian last night with some great GG#4 rosin a friend made up for me.

I have just a couple of observations:

1. Its really easy to clean up with a qtip due to the rounded corner where the inside wall meets the dab surface and the polishing. Stuff just shed off of it. Very nice.

2. I lowered my temps 15 degrees F and think I can lower a bit more and still have the same performance as the SiC. When I get time, I will add to my set point vs dab surface temp chart and see if there is indeed a difference.

3. Taste....I dunno...tell the truth, I have vaped some kick ass, high end, sugared live resin and the like and I still don't think that any concentrates taste particularly good...especially as compared to herb. I can tell when I don't like the taste (as in on Ti, for example) but in this case I think its a wash between the SiC and the Obsidian.

Bottom line, I like it, I'm glad I got it, I wanted to have two inserts so now I have the SiC and the Obsidian. But, if you have good SiC, I'm not at all sure its worth the extra expense to buy Obsidian.

I noticed that when I clean my insert after dabbing rosin I press myself with 90 micron screen it's not clean after 1 q-tip swipe so I have to crank it down to 300 and use 5-6 q-tips... I get this golden crumble from another guy and it only takes 1 tip of a q-tip to clean it. Rosin seems to have microscopic plant matter that gets thru screens and ends up as black carbonized resins inside your insert.

I only dab rosin I press myself in 120 micron bags. I've got 14 strains in rotation right now and notice it varies depending on the strain and also what temp I pressed at. I finally just got a second insert so I can hot swap them a time or two a day with a short distilled water soak for the encrusted one.

You're probably looking for those complex sesquiterpenoids which only form during the curing stage of flower. They never develop in a fresh frozen live resin extraction.

People see these high terpene percentages in lab tests, but they are only testing for like 10 terpenes so it skews the results. Many of the terpenes and unidentified biomolecules which make up the unique flavor profile of cannabis are not translating during extraction. That's why a jar of bud reeks and will blowup a room, yet concentrate pens with tons of terpenes can be used ultra discretely!

I've always felt that way up until sometime earlier this year when I was able to get my hands on some of the latest and best extract products.

A top shelf concentrate, like a true FSE (not mislabeled live resin) will stink up a room just as much as dank flower nugs will.

There is a chart floating around by a company "extractioneering" that explains how an FSE captures the biomolecules that live resin lacks. I'm out of town and replying from my phone, so can't look it up right now. But might post it later.

I'm quite familiar with Extractioneering and his process. His cannabinoid ratios are in line with the cured flower, which is very impressive; but not "full spectrum" as in a complete extraction, with all of the same actives as the starting material. A cannabis concentrate is only concentrated when comparing equal weights. 1g of extract will appear concentrated when compared to 1g flower, but if you adjust for yield, the flower will always have more active cannabinoids, terpenes, and biomolecules. That's the chemistry of polarity when extracting with aliphatic hydrocarbons. Since terpenes span the entire range from very non polar to very polar, and chemical extractions can only extract within their polar range, it would not be possible to entirely extract these molecules.

Dry sift resin heads is the only full spectrum concentrate which actually retains all of the compounds found in the starting material. The reason is because it's NOT an extraction, and instead concentration via mechanical separation.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with this.

Dry sift heads are usually separated from the plant after a long curing process.

This means that the starting material has lost many of the terpenes that have evaporated off from say a fresh frozen - water hash or rosin product and many others have changed form from their original composition during the cure.

Yes, it is mechanical separation vs chemical, but it does not "retain all of the compounds found in the starting material."

That's the whole point, for the harsh volatile terpenes meant to offgas at room temperature during the cure to leave and convert to bi and tricylic sesquiterpenes.

I'm talking about retaining the same compounds as cured nugs, not as wet bud. Cured nuggets = starting material

My 30mm Liger with obsidian and sapphire dishes arrived today...at the same time as my AH coil. I currently have it running nicely on an Auber RDK-150-DC 12v controller with controller temp of 570F and dish temp of 390F. I could probably stand to spread the coil a bit to lower that delta, but right now I'm just mesmerized watching the Agent Orange rosin turn into delicious terpy vapor in that huge bucket.

Those of you who own both 20mm and 30mm, do you use your 30mm at a lower temp than 20mm? If so, how much do you lower it? I'm only 3 hits deep and trying to bracket the right temp, but so far it's seeming like about 390F is right for my 30mg to 40mg size rosin dabs whereas I've been closer to 440F with the 20mm

That’s a nice setup man , how are you liking that incycler ? It’s a leisure ? I grabbed the fumed version on sale the other day , can’t wait to get it and give it a try . Such a sick little piece . ** Edit - just saw you wrote it’s a leisure , enjoy I’m digging it .

Thats my next rig. Was gonna get a Grav Labs/Bates internal or external but i think i will just end up with the Leisure incycler to add to my Leisure collection.

Did you grab the 10mm or 14mm fumed?

14mm fumed , I gotta stop buying glass though or I’ll be in trouble soon lol . I like to use my rigs with flower and dabs so went for 14mm . It seems to be a really nice functioning rig from the few videos I watched on YouTube .

LOL... Shouldnt we all stop buying so many glass rigs. Isnt one enough? I just got a new SOL on black Friday and said thats it for the year and a week later, i back in the shop looking for a mini rig under 6 inches. Which is why I am leaning towards the 10mm incycler. Leisure glass is just so thick and heavy for such a little rig. And i love the mouthpiece.

I got my Joda directional carb cap for the 30mm Liger and its not bad. It seems to taste better with the glass cap to me. Maybe better isnt the right word but smoother or cleaner. My only issue with the cap is that i cannot spin it or the seal breaks. I have to know where the hole is and lay it on the Liger just right to get a vacuum seal and when that happens. Boy its really nice. But its a hit or miss with each dab. Its only 41mm wide so it barely covers the entire top. Its sorta like a glass version of the Tsunami cap. I got pictures ill post shortly.

Let me add that he ship this thing right away like he said. Great packaging too, peanuts and bubble wrap.

I ordered the Chadbro cap V2 cap to try as i just want a working glass cap. Hate the whole bro theme tho. But now on a hunt for a glass cap.

Is it me or does a glass carb cap seem to taste cleaner or smoother than a Ti carb cap?

I also somehow feel like the hit is cleaner with a glass cap, but I am sure it is something to do with the tactile feel of it in my hand too. I alternate between my joda and the factory liger, but the wife goes for the liger every time just for the simplicity of it. speaking of simplicity, I am seriously considering the skeleton handle to be able to use the 'dab and cap at once' capability. Does this work well, or do you just have rosin climbing back up the dabber tip? I have yet to have much luck using the liger dabber tips on a separate dabber with rosin and have gone back to my old ss dental pick for now.

I haven't used my hurricane since I got the joda. I want to give the joda cap a chance.

And I broke down today and picked up a Leisure incycler to add to my collection. It's basically a short and fat 10mm size incycler as it's 6 inches tall but with a 14mm female joint.

Never seen this before. The guy just sold his 10mm fumed over the weekend.

This Lil guy works great with my Liger 30mm. Maybe better than the brick stack.
