CCA Liger banger V3.0

Sorry if I went too far. It's just that when I hear comments like we can finally be free of CCA then it seems personal and not like an honest conversion about the merits of a product.

Peace guys?

There is no need to take anything personal. Options are good for the world. You never want to be tied to one source. Most of what you read in this forum is honest experiences. Its not like I am making this up as i write. Each and everyone of us wants and wanted to see CCA succeed but they keep letting people down time after time. Its like an alcoholic girlfriend telling you she wont drink anymore. Like your gonna believe that.

I just wanted to drop in and share some positive stuff about the current V3. I just got a ruby sphere from https://www.etsy.com/listing/613019031/ruby-spheres-by-cryptic-culture?show_sold_out_detail=1 and put it in my 20mm and it's making a difference. Not massive but it does make the Liger more efficient. Cleaning with qtip is super easy too. I highly recommend you guys with V3's get one. I will be keeping one in my Ligers for now on. It's part of the setup for life.

I will be ordering 5 of the 6mm Rubys in a few weeks. Cryptic Culture in Socal makes these and the full opaque inserts.

3-4 Rubys in a sapphire dish!!!!!

That's what's up. These are so cool and the more we use the better the dab. I can't wait to order more!

I am starting to get good results with the liger using a huge 50 mm saucer cap. It seams to me that the biggest problem with the liger, besides the chambers dimensions ( I think deeper and narrower would be better, like a high walled 20mm or something), is getting a good seal on the banger. All saucers that I have seen are for some reason blown with a ring indent made to center the cap on any banger that matches the ring. The main problem with the liger is that it's wide 38 to 34mm outer rim is so non standard that NO one indents a ring to that dimension, so no saucer cap is really going to work great. The larger one just has a relatively flat surface, so I think that the interface gaps are small. If I could find a absolutely flat saucer cap at 50 mm with a 60 degree bend, I would be smoking instead of typing :)

the best "saucer" cap is the chad bro terp trunk....

Clearly, you are pissed at CCA and I would be too if my Liger came with a nipple. I bet Josh would replace the nippled Ligers with Liger airs once he has caught up with the PRE-ORDERS. I don't see what he can do about it until he has replacement stock. Truth is I don't think they are making that much money over at CCA and I would not be surprised if Josh has to work another job. They are on Obsidian #200, I'm guessing the company only does like 50-60k a year. It's a very small niche market but it will grow on him if he can turn things around. I know the Hex nail girls have to work other jobs and I'm pretty sure August isn't able to support himself from the Kube/coils alone. It is nice that people are working so hard to bring these types of high-end specialty products to a market that has not yet been proven viable.

The topic of this thread is CCA's liger banger. I feel that it is a poor etiquette to fill up a thread about one product with its competitor products because you are mad over of your order. There are other threads about quartz bangers.

Also, you talk about not wanting to be dependent on CCA for gear. Seems strange to have a dependency on needing new gear. New gear is nice but a collection like yours or mine has plenty of backups. Just try to be patient...

When I was a kid in the 90's I had to wait 4-6 weeks for anything mail ordered. Now we are spoiled by free amazon 2-day shipping. Of course, Amazon spent something like a billion dollars on that automated robotic product delivery and fullfillment network.

I'm finding your feedback quite refreshing. When you aren't saying anything to directly offend anyone, but your opinions generate a stern response nonetheless, it's just triggering that part of human psychology which interprets them as a threat to one's inner narrative... Please don't feel discouraged from sharing your thoughts in the current format.

Totally agree with what you're saying about CCA's business struggles. There is no way Josh makes livable money with CCA. There have been too many pages in this thread with posts that went beyond negative feedback, were totally unconstructive and just emotionally driven by what I'm guessing was some combination of a lack of patience and a desire for an outlet from the frustrating set of circumstances in daily life.

Also, about the titanium over quartz for a bucket... As long as one cleans all the titanium pathways every 2-3 days, the taste is AMAZING off the sapphire insert. I find that right around day 3 or 4 of heavy use, there is a big drop off in how much of the flavor gets muted. Also, I like having my AH coil screwed on as TIGHTLY as possible around the bucket so that there is maximum heat transfer and quickest response time in temperature corrections from the heating sensor to the dish surface... With quartz, it seems you'd have to up the temp by around 100F just to compensate for the lack of a shroud and quartz's thermal properties. But with the slower quartz heat transfer ability in comparison to titanium, how do you compensate for the much slower response time in correcting temperatures between the actual dish surface temp and the heating coil sensor?

I'd switch away from Ti in a heartbeat if there was another, more inert material with all the same or better thermal properties to make the bucket out of... Still waiting though.

I looked on my Liger and it has a reverse nipple or belly button (it's an inny", not an "outty"). If your liger has a protruding nipple then you might be able to remove it with a careful hand and a Dremel tool. A small divot won't hurt anything but a nipple will affect heat transfer through the bottom.

Thanks that helps me feel better about my post.

I'm sure there are better materials out there. I have sent Josh some of my ideas on a few but it seems like his first priority is the Liger Air and catching up on outstanding orders. I'm sure he will look at it eventually.

The best way that I found to uptemp with the AH/Liger 30 combination is to:
  • Fully coat a warm obsidian* insert.
  • Set and stabilize the AH at 550 and
  • Turn on "cleaning mode"
  • Wait 5-15 seconds
  • Drop the coated obsidian insert into the hot liger
  • Carb cap
  • Wait 5-15 seconds
  • Start inhaling and dont stop until you don't like the flavor or the temperature reaches 610-630 or so
  • Wipe down right away with cotton q-tip (dollar tree)
  • Then you might as well let the cleaning process finish as you should be sufficiently and efficiently baked
* I have not tried this with sapphire and I would not guarantee that it would not crack. For drop-in up temping, the lower thermal mass and higher heat transfer rate of obsidian should produce better results however quartz can also handle the thermal shock.

I lost a 20mm sapphire to thermal shock when the water hit it after it was used with the wrong glass piece and tipped.

The heating curve is steeper in cleaning mode and glob mode does not always like to work on the KubeOne.

I think my "inner narrative" is telling me that it is your OPINION that the chad bro, when modified by a glass blower{ to show I now actually research posts and posters before giving them advice), is the best. I have tried to contact chadbro through messenger to no avail, so I am finding alternatives locally. I have found nothing I really like yet.

it is indeed my opinion. but, the fact of the matter is, no other glass blower makes 'saucer' caps as consistently flat and wide across the base as chad bro does, which will give you a 100% seal on the liger (just that directional spout needs to point downward more). he explains his unique way of making them in his live streams once in a while... and I'm saying this after having negative experiences in dealing with the guy and knowing that he can be a dick sometimes.

also, regarding contacting him and you saying you "actually research posts", in the one by me you're referencing, you'd have seen that I also mentioned chad bro takes weeks to reply when I suggested contacting him directly about getting this cap.

once, he replies to you the first time, it'll be slightly faster responses after. he gets 100s of DMs a day. so he can only reply to so many at a time....

I ran out of iso so I left one of my dirty sapphires in a cup of Dawn Ultra, water, and glass clearer overnight. Everything came off in one quick wipe of a Q-tip. I think it worked better than iso.

I would give it a good rinse and run the Clean Cycle afterwards in case there are any rinse aids left on the insert.

I've been eyeing these for some time now: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bf_phumAfOc/?taken-by=zc_glass
Bottom is ground flat and it has an adjustable periscope air inlet.

seems interesting.... that's the flattest caps i've seen besides chad's. accomplished with an entirely different technique here

i like to warm my carb cap up by placing it on the bucket before taking a dab... i wonder if that rubber would melt if I accidentally leave it heating up for too long, as it occasionally happens to me currently

I'm gonna give chadbro a few more weeks to get back to me, but if I don't hear from him I might have to grab one of those... Great idea.

@JigMelon I had a ChadBro Terptrunk (non-modified) and ended up selling it.

The best caps I have found are by Coojoglass on IG.
I have a couple: one with very tight air restriction, one with more open air flow.
This is a pic that has been posted before, but here they are:

Proper cap definitely makes or breaks a set-up, I hope you find one you like.

Maybe I’m missing something, but it seems like a better method than the wait weeks approach.

I wanted a custom order, with tighter air and a longer inlet.
